Started back in '06 when the tutorial was friggin' hard. Kept dying to the Red Ribbon Pig >:(
Dropped after a few months because my laptop at the time was laggy to the point where it was unplayable
Fast forward to 2010 when my classmates in highschool were making skits in Maplestory for class (lol)
That marriage system gave them a lot to work with
Reentered Maplestory in 2012 and tried to level a Mercedes. Remembered it was a huge accomplishment to hit lvl 95 Q_Q
Quit after a year to take care of irl stuff
Now quarantined and I've come back to check the game back out lol.
Chaos haha I figured out to hold the quest menu key and it would lag the game giving you a decent gap closer for drop games .. cheeky af

Imagine training so hard for months to reach level 70, suddenly you get in like 3 hours....So frustrating, I think that was the day people quit the most
Been playing since 06 all the way til like 2012. Came back a few times but it could never capture what really drew me into maple back then I don’t know if it’s because I’m older or what but man.. That history really brought me back to those days. Thanks coppersan :)
I played GMS from 2005-2012 and literally just finished redownloading it to check it out once again. Idk how I came across your channel lol but thank you for hitting me in the face with nostalgia. Pretty hyped to get confused af lol sad to see that free market is gone though.

Remember when Maple was lunching beta and I tried in a Internet Cafe, I was like 10 years old and I felt in love. But when real game was lunched, from then i never knew that i was missing too much my childhood. Just enjoying a magnificient game, making a lot of friends using F2, F4 face expressiones HAHAHAHA of F5 when mad.
I played until Big Bang update, i reached lv 89 i think Hermit Job. DAM GOOD OLD TIMES, leveling only doing PQ was the fastest way to lvl up
Tiger was #1 the entire time I played maple on Khahini server. Ah i miss my Nightlord now
Very unfortunate Tiger, Suushi nor CurryisHott didn't get 200 first. Scania was massively toxic and we were in a KS war for over a year with SuperVillian vs Vengenance. It was really epic and toxic. Supervillian got backstabbed and internally disabled by an officer we all had to re-guild, then a GM personally stepped in and dis-banned Vengenence because of massive harassment reports. Those were the high level days of Scania.... Pretty crazy looking back at it.
There’s literally SO MUCH that he didn’t talk about that I remember getting removed and added to the game. Still, shade holds the record as most depressing class in the history of maplestory.
Right off the bat I can name the kerning tower and familiar system. But I don’t care to list anymore since if you played ms then you would know

@@RTGPrince Both games have crazy economies, people paying BILLIONS for items and everyone doing somehting called "HP Washing" to be viable for bosses, which is expensive and adds 5x more grind that forces you to buy leech for many levels. Kind of ruined the game for me
yogg789 I remember back in 2008 I was 14. My mind was blown how real time everything was. Boat arrivals, time schedules everywhere. The travel to Ludibrum for the first time. It felt like I was going far away from home, a different world... so nostalgic. Amongst my travels I met new faces, friends and rivals guilds.. it was a wholesome. My guild was activily rivaling the other one to the point we genuinely hated each other but in a friendly matter, like if I saw someone from the other guild making some gains or losses the leader would clown the rivalling leader haha.. we always knew who the new members were, who defected us in the hard times joining an other guild, everything. think Maple Story was the best possible mmorpg to unintentionally roleplay in.
Still remember how struggling it was if I missed the ship from Victoria Island to the Orbis which scheduled every 10 or 15 minutes...hahah, and being killed by balrog on the ship due to curiousity😂
I remember when high level players would summon a barlog in Kerning City killing multiple of players waiting for Part Quests and barlog wasn't so NERFED
The ecstasy when you can actually deal damage to balrog and help fight it was real. It's like winning the super bowl.

Man, this nostalgia gives me such a rush of emotions.
Starting my own Guild and being recognized as a top Guild on the server.
The day I hit 200 and having everyone around me spamming showing love and the announcement it would show everyone playing that I hit 200. Random people whispering congratulations.
Getting married in APQ with someone I fell in love with that I never even physically met.
The obvious ones like KPQ, LMPQ, the carnival, just spending all those days grinding.
Then it all just went downhill when my character got hacked and someone stole everything and then got petty and went back and deleted my character. That was a painful day, as dramatic as it sounds, you're a kid and that's your life's work essentially all gone. Hackers were so wild and prominent back then.
What's crazy is a fellow guildmate I found out recreated my character and leveled it back to 200 for me. He's forever someone no matter how much time passes and we don't speak, will forever hold a part in my heart. I actually just messaged him after watching this to check in.
I'm almost 29 now, and I was 18 when I stopped playing. People thought I had a real issue with how much time I spent on Maple, but this was some of the best memories of my life.
Dang bro the feels. I think Maplestory will always hold a really special part in our hearts. I've played a lot of games since then and honestly, I can still say to this day that I haven't played a game that has been more fun and as diverse as Maplestory. I'm glad I was able to play it.
Damn man, this hit close to home, i'm 29 as well and quit around the same age you did, tried going back and it.. oof, it just ruins the nostalgia for me. Gotta leave it as it is, just an old fond memory lol.

Ughhh same, looking back at it so fondly now, feels melancholic lol. Back in the good ol' days when lvl 40 was an actual feat that you could be proud of LOL. I miss just grinding till I passed tf out and pqing with friends ;o;.

It's so funny how many people played Maplestory with their siblings, mostly cause one sibling would tell the other and the game looked too good to not play! Which is what happened with me, one day I saw my older brother play this really cool looking game, and I got hooked on it. Next thing I knew, I was playing way more than him!

It's one of the warmest childhood memories I had, honestly, maybe that's why it's remembered this way? The memories are so vivid, I will forever love the pre-BB Maple
05-08 were the prime years. Everything after that got a little too ridiculous IMO.

Mostly agree, played since late 2006, but it was also really refreshing around 2008-2011 when MS introduced a TON of new stuff (pirates + resistance) and Carnival PQ, so it was a nice change in that sense but yea after 2011 it started to die off for me when they just blindly added new classes and as a result, all the classes lost their meaning and value in a way.
everything pre-bang was awesome, after that it went to craphole. Heavy P2W. The only people arguing that new maple is better are the same ones that have spent thousands of dollars on this game.. cuz they literally bought power..

I re - downloaded maple story td 20 here started maple 2007 was hardcore player till I got bored when updates were coming slow so know I will try start fresh and aim 200 lvl within 2 months
reda berzou Im pretty sure you will be able to reach it before that🙂 its pretty easy now to lvl up! Took me like one week and I was almost lvl 100 already! But yes at some point around lvl 140-150 it becomes harder✌️ wish u luck!!

Part of me says how silly of me to have played this game for 7 years, part of me loves the nostalgia.
there was a period after big bang when game was still super fun PQ were still booming, leveling was still challenging enough and party areas at high levels were popular and a fun place to meet friends... to me that was the peak of maple. Before that was nostalgic but had many issues... and after that became the game it is today which you cant even play late game without p2w and you speed to lv 200 in a couple days entirely solo then just buy gear and log in to do your dailies..
Could play Reboot instead. Its not P2W, just P2Fabulous.

I still remember when the sauna got glitched and would DC people who entered it. My friend and I were unreasonably hyped when I got my character out by disconnecting from the internet and reconnecting at just the right time frame to walk to the portal out and press up.

I concur with these two fine peeps above me, MapleRoyals is fun and has kept me playing for a couple years now..since it's the only thing close to a nostalgic and classic Maplestory server.

2007 is when i started playing i remember recieving my first laptop at the age of 7 this game was legendary i would fake stomach aches just to stay home and play this under my bedsheets all day
I remember when they added cross world party quest. People would queue up for dimension crack until lvl 70 when you would go to Romeo and Juliet. R&J was op until I think it was nerfed. Now its empty

I remember when I first started selling ores by the hay stack in henesys to get gear. Everyone passed that spot to train the next map. I remember people used to chill in that map all the time. It was a hotspot for training while still being around other maplers. I miss that. You had so many random interactions with people. I remember pretending to get adopted and having a maple mom and sister for a little bit. Good times. Lots of memories for sure.

The one thing that maple did wrong is they forgot what the game was intended before. It was supposed to be a game where everyone around the world can play and "Socialize". Removing the socialization part is ruining the game... It was fun when you are looking for a party just to kill a boss quest or get the equips you needed. Now due to higher stat event equipment that the PARTY QUESt are forgotten, and now people just log in to solo kill bosses and sell items in the auction.
I didn't know, but after watching this I realized I played at the very beginning of Maple Story Global, around the time Zakum was released, until little after Cygnus Knights were added. 2005-2006 was peak MS, RIP.
fuuuuuck I was ten when I started playing maplestory? I remember when it was only Scania and Bera, like it should be. This game taught me more on how to type on a keyboard than my school ever did. I remember someone asked if I played piano because I could type so fast and I was too embarrassed to say that it was due to an online game, so I just lied and said I played piano LOL. Look at the world now, gaming is somewhat acceptable now lol. And then sadly one day in 2014 my account password randomly stopped working and I had to leave my dope ass i/l mage at lvl 169 and watch all my friends reach 200 before me ;o; sad days. I quit after that lol. Wow this brought back so much nostalgia, this was my liiiife for like 9 years. damn dude... I kinda want to try playing again now lol.

Me too..since i started playing maplestory way too young (around 7 years old), i noticed that i type way faster than my friends..and also having good basics of English (english isnt my first language tho) XD All thanks to spending hours playing maple. Later, I quitted in 2015 bcuz maple kept on having rollbacks and I've getting fed up of my unsaved game. I remembered I spent 4~5 hours to hunt for a Christmas chair (in the meantime i did level up some). The moment I finally got the chair i was kicked out and my character went back to the level i first log into game. This happened thrice and i finally gave up maple...*sniff sniff*

they should release a version of maplestory called classic maplestory with old school hard to level up and mesos being scarce that would be really nice to experience again

Things you didn’t mention , there were only 4 classes up until 2008 when the pirate class was added , henesys pq with the moon bunny , as well as Ariant PQ , I don’t remember the years but they’re classics 😁

He has got his dates wrong that's for sure. Cygnus Knights were already in the game in 2007 Windia was my first ever server. I will always remember my Night-walker completing the 999 mobs quests. in sleepy-wood.

U gatta love how the screen is full of people everywhere in the early years, less people after Big Bang but still packed with party quests and training, then 1 to maybe 3 ppl in the recent years... sad to see it deserted.
MapleStory was so great but some how they managed to fuck it up. Nexon killed their community in the pursuit of money.
The quality of the game and community was so high back then, then they ruined it with greed sadly

I remember when I first started playing in grade school in 2004-2005, there was only one world, "Tespia." There were only 4 classes, and if I remember correctly Orbis wasn't even around then, let alone all the other maps besides Maple Island and Victoria Island. I wanted to be a mage, but because I didn't know better, I added all my SP into strength so I could level up faster in the beginning, only to realize I had permanently messed up my character stats. I also maxed energy bolt instead of magic guard, so I also never was able to take much of a hit from stronger monsters. I quit around level 36 after 2nd job advancing to a cleric since it became so hard to level up, but I will never forget when the times were simpler, no one knew what they were doing, and we just had fun exploring a brand new world. Thanks for posting videos like this coppersan to bring back the nostalgia!
Tespia was Beta with only 2nd job, there were 4 classes with their respective sub classes. Archer> bowman/crossbowman, warrior>fighter/spearman/page, mage>cleric/lit mage/fire mage, thief>assassin/bandit. Made it to a 78 spearman there farming Jr Balrog for my lvl70 weapon (Golden Dragon) :)

@@WellsJimmy well it took some hardcore grinding and knowing which spots to train, best spot around that lvl was cargo map and not because of the cargos, but because of the ice eyes. My friend started later was 85 ice mage.

many years have passed, I remember a lot with maplestory when with my friends we met in a civer cafe to play all together, I stopped playing since 2010 and as soon as I return and many memories I have had with your videos I love them, Greetings from Honduras
Oh my gosh. What a trip down memory lane. I used to play when I was around 10 or so. I was in 3rd or 4th grade and now I'm 22 in my graduate program. I still play maple, and it's not the same as it used to be. Thanks for making this video and reminding me of my childhood and for the nostalgia!

The fact that it took 3 years after launch for someone to reach 200 shows just how hard it was back then. Bear in mind that the people at the top of the ranks were grinding 10 hours a day since release and it still took that long
Nowadays just one level like 299 to 300 would take more then a year if u grinded for 10 hrs a day

2010... it was a dark year for maplestory.... up untill that point player number where rising constantly, and exponentially. after big bang... it all went downhill.

One of the most amusing things i find about being a maplestory fan is that im only 6 days older than the GMS release but its still the game i know from the longest time. gotta give a shout out to my dad who prob downloaded it for my brothers.

2011 was such a Golden Age for me in this game. Super wealthy, OP character, huge Guild with tons of friends. I remember having a Protege, and giving him my old gear for free every time I upgraded it, the guy was so happy. And I remember getting the permanent Dragon mount, and people losing their minds when I rode through populated towns. A few months ago I jumped back into the game to see how things were after years away from it, and now I'm essentially broke, my main class is obsolete, and my once OP gear is average at best LOL.
I remember playing the OG maplestory back in first grade. That was in Korea in 2004. I'm 22 now and in the US. Time sure does go by fast. Feeling very nostalgic, thank you for this video

You forgot to mention when they kicked EU players out of GMS and made EMS. And when EMS merged back with GMS. God damn it. I had to start over from scratch when we got kicked out of GMS. I know a lot of people did not get kicked out, but I was not one of those lucky ones.
Ugh i remember when they added that bloody block, for years i couldn't access my account, then they finally released it for European players who created an account before 07, then they lifted the block completely and then finally merged lmao.
The easiest way to tell an old mapler from a new one is to see if he uses Basic Damage instead of Slash Damage.
The good old Maplestory days of grinding on Maplestory with your guild and be on for a long time sometime and get your wife mad 😆 but it was fun even at work fixing cell 📱 yes it was great!!

I remember when I used to buy millions of maple coins or whatever* it's been so long......I used to go to noob island and drop 1,000 bags and I use to have about 30 of the them following me. It was so fun. It was the best time my exhusband and I ever had, it was playing maple story together. That was the only fun i had with him. It took so long to level smh.
This made me realize that I played so much maple back in the day. Each year you described in my memory felt like several years of me playing back then.

I started playing maplestory in 2005 at the ripe age of 7...! Some of the most memorable moments and events for me were:
It took me hours to roll the perfect 4/4.
The old cursor was a blue diamond, and the buddy list was skinny.
The first time I made a character, I left maple island at level 7, and my brother made me restart.
I made a warrior, but I loved the mage clothing. I spent all of my money buying both male and female mage gear, only to realize I could not wear any of it.
Perion channel 1 was the place to be to sell/buy things before freemarket.
Kerning PQ was the ideal way to get from levels 21-31. Pig beach was a great place to train.
My brother and I got scammed 3k mesos for a sword we really wanted, through the "tab tab space enter" method.
Collecting candies during the halloween event, and getting the pumpkin basket
Getting the Pocahontas hat thingfrom the thanksgiving turkey event.
The ship to Orbis, and accidentally going AFK before it started and getting killed by Balrog.
Getting stuck in El Nath. My brother's friend had to come and help me find the way back.

Coppersan, u forgot about the economic crisis that struck MapleStory. When the hackers came with item dupe hack. Items with hundreds of stars and crazy stats. Infinite amount of miracle scrolls. PaC and BWG everywhere in the FM. Selling SoK for like 1:1000.

Maplestory was genuinely one of the best mmorpg video games I've ever played and I'm currently 25 y/o ( haven't played it since 2012-2013 when shit started going south ), the only regret I have regarding Maplestory is, when it was still good, I was too young and literally didn't have the tools nor the knowledge t omake progress and actually enjoy this game.
I do hope with all my heart that Nexon will make one good decision and create a classic version of Maplestory.
I have no doubt that even tho it's an old ass game, many players might return and keep it more lively than ever.
I know I will.
Surprisingly one of, if not the most played game of my life.
I started when I was 6 or 7 playing on a private server with my family, then began playing GMS around 2011 but never played seriously until 2015.
Though I've been through some tough times, issues revolving around depression, MapleStory was there to pick me up and help me collect my own thoughts, piecing them together, thinking while I grind. Even if I don't remember or will ever meet the people I met on the game again, I was happy to be apart of the community, and will hopefully stay strong as this game stays alive.
Can't wait to marry my future husband on this game, who is playing as a girl character because we still can't gay marriage.
Damn I'm 23 now and remember playing this during middle school and high school. But I can't remember exactly when I started playing, so not sure exactly what stage of the game I started playing it. Now I just really want another pc so I can play more before the game shuts down forever not sure if/when that will happen.
If greedy nexon really wants to make money they should really make an old school version of this game

The "kiddy love" going on in this game around 2007 was crazy and a big part of it for a lot of people I bet haha.
I don’t think I heard you mention the Ultimate Adventurers phase of maple where you could rebirth your Cygnus classes to a full class with a bonus skill. Sad that many people don’t know about this since they took it away shortly after.
Still remember the first time I got scammed by the "Tab + Tab + Space + Enter" thing during a trade.... ;-;
