Andy Timmons is the best Rock guitarist on the planet. So much melodic artistry and sophistication in his playing. Every solo he plays is next level even among the best. Amazing.
Ocean Waves Rolling in then sometimes the Wave’s Crash against the Rocks and Beauty Floats into The Sky that is how this song makes me feel, Gorgeous Guitarist Notes that also Float Across The Air.💙💙💙
7:45 nothing better then two very talented musicians losing their self’s in the music. Beautiful. This is not just beautiful. It’s transcending. Thank you for this post
Thank you for posting this!!! I was at that show! We got there early and were just hanging out chatting with friends, chillin, and all of a sudden out of nowhere, Andy was standing with us with his hands in his pocket "chillin". We were all noticeably surprised, and Andy was like, "hey what's happening guys, thanks for coming to check out the show..." And continued to chat with us for a few minutes before he went on to greet others. Super down to earth nice guy. I always heard that about him but to experience it firsthand was very nice and my respect for him grew exponentially. And the show, like all of his shows, was amazing! Thanks again for posting this video. Peace
Wow, I'd absolutely love to have an encounter like that. One of the pedals high up on my list that I REALLY would like to get and use is the keeley Andy Timmons Halo pedal. I really feel it would fit my own style and sound very very well. It'll likely end up being the exact delay pedal that I've been looking for to add flavor to the main heart and soul of my own sound and what I like to play. That said mainly I'm wanting to build a very special pedal board that will do both hendrix and srv style tones and stuff(clyde mccoy wah, benson temp controlled germanium fuzz, a pedal pawn gypsy vibe v2, an older dunlop octavio/octavia lol(rip jimi), an ibanez ts9 tube screamer, a pedal pawn texan twang drive, and finally a legit vintage Leslie pedal like bonamassa uses). And maybe at some point throw a keeley darkside v2 back in there, I owned one but sold it regrettably.
Without a doubt. I wrote him a snail-mail letter back in 2018 or so, and .........He wrote me back! Guy is an amazing human and a talent without equal.
Andy reminds me of an old band mate, A-list session man in Nashville: JT Corenflos. (I miss him dearly - he knew when and what to play instinctively. And, he always had the touch of “flash and fairy-dust” that pushed the boundaries of a song with care and love …😢❤) . Keep on making me cry, Mr Timmons, and try your best to hang on to your persona, as that is what comes out of your guitar 🫶✌️♾️. 🎸👨🏼⚕️🎸
Seeing these superb artists play Little Wing reminds me for the 1000th time that kids these days have nothing at all musically to compare with this. Brilliant and incredibly enjoyable. Wow.
The kids can listen to Jimi if they want to. Some even do so. However, my parents who were in their 20s when Jimi was performing do not know this song.
The fact that this song is covered so much shows the esteem for which it is held. A true timeless immortal masterpiece by the one and only Jimi Hendrix.
@@ctusser Yes, this was an Andy Timmons/Travis Larson Band tour. Jennifer Young playing bass for both bands. Rob Avsharian and Dale Moooon! on drums...
TravisLarsonBand, Honored you took the time to reply. I saw you guys in Seattle when you toured with Aristocrats. You guys are awesome, and tour with top players. Would love to see you again if you come this way in the future.
Simply sublime playing. My favorite moment was when Andy, as Hendrix often did during live performances, referenced the Beatles in his solo at the 4:58 mark where he offered just a sprinkler of the the Beatles "I Feel Fine" melody.
What's apparent is that although Andy is probably the sharpest player in the room, his demeanour is that of everyone else is. Dang we need more dudes like this!
Awesome! Two of my absolute favorite guitarists jamming together on a beautiful Hendrix tune. Gotta love that! I've never had the pleasure of seeing Andy live in person, but I've seen Travis twice now and spoke with him and his bandmates both times. Wonderfully chill, down to earth folks, great musicians, and so inspiring!
Good version.Must have been very cool in a small club setting! A really stunning version people may want to check out was a Clapton / Winwood concert tribute to Hendrix not too long after Jimi's death. Great song with many great covers.
It’s a very nice take on the song unique and tasteful. I love Jeff Beck‘s version with his drummer singing I love Clapton doing it with Sheryl Crow and Dave Sanborn and I think my all-time favorite is Steve Lukather doing it on his 59 burst and singing it at the Les Paul 50th anniversary I believe ? Anyway kudos to all these players paying homage to one of the most beautiful songs ever written in my opinion.

Holy Shit!!! Most of the time the videos with headers saying "best version" or something to that effect usually suck. But, in this case header says "most amazing version" and it's all but an understatement. The virtuosity of Andy Timmons is breathtaking. And, the segment from about 4:19-5:02 come on now you're just showing off lol Fucking awesome. What a treat thank you Brad Thornton for posting.

I've heard him sing better covering this same track. I think he was having an off night. Mind you, he's not a great singer. But he's more competent than he sounds here.
And he's very humble about that, self-deprecating quite a bit about his own singing. Similar to how Eric Johnson talks about his own singing during his concerts. His competency is through the roof.
Andy’s singing wasn’t bad.... but one does not go to hear Andy sing... you go to hear him play...of which he is one of the finest electric guitar players on the planet.... ever!
SRV's version as an extension off the original is much better. Just as delicate. That Hendrix didn't 'finish' it left a lot up to the imagination of those who'd add to it. Versions by Hiram Bullock, Stanley Jordan and others...
I didn't know these two great players, I will certainly look up more of what they have done. HOWEVER - they don't bring anything new to this masterpiece. It's a first-class performance, but any guitarist playing this is going to be compared to the original master. Clapton did a great version with the Dominoes, but the original rules!
Not a bad interpretation of the song. I loved how they did their own interpretation of the song rather than making it a carbon copy. Good cover but SRV is King of this song as much as Jimi was the pioneer of this song SRV added to it and gave it life. I'd think that most people who cover Little Wing are emulating SRV emulating Jimi rather than just the latter.
I love Phil X , But between his band and this one, I haven't heard so many people Butcher Jimi's song "Little Wing" in my life. If you want to hear a GREAT RENDITION of it...Go Listen to Steve Vai...Live at Astoria London and listen to something that would have made the hair on Jimi's arms stand up and gave him the chills , as it did me..
??? This is completely different from Hendrix version. It’s 6 minutes longer. Way more notes. It’s even longer then Stevie ray vaughns version, from a guitarists standpoint, Stevie ray Vaughn literally OWNS that song. Hendrix sang some lyrics and killed it in his own way. Andy is doing the same thing here, acknowledging the greats while making it his own
