I started paying attention to Tomo Fujita when I found out that he was John Mayer's guitar teacher and mentor. The man is just incredible and his humility when playing with other musicians is just admirable. The man is an absolute compliment to any artistic setup.
It is such a beautiful thing to see two musicians at this level just get lost into a conversation with each other musically and just have FUN. Tomo has the most disciplined right hand technique of any guitarist I've ever seen, and his playing is so tight in any given situation, he isn't in the box... he is the factory that MAKES the box. And Eric never fails to impress me. He is loose when he wants to be, tight when it counts, and 110% of his heart is always in his playing. The only other guitarist I've ever seen that has such a raw, instinctual connection with their instrument was Jimi himself, and I will leave it at that.
So sad a lot of people don't know or understand Eric, who is having fun. By the way he learned to play the guitar this way its a family trait and tradition. He is widely known as an amazing Hendrix player. Nuanced... Jimi was many different things and precisely got tired with people telling him what he was, and how he should play. Eric can do nuanced... This is having fun at a trade show and "the judges" come out. In any case thanks Eminence for such a cool jam!
@@ecedeniz678 yeah Eric gets possessed by the Holy Ghost when he plays man. He jus feels different than tomo and that’s why watching two guitar masters is cool. They’re completely different players and gods in their own rights
to see these two combining their talents. tomo with his jazzy blues and eg ripping it up, it’s amazing. i didn’t know that eric could do so well with a jazzy chord progression. very impressive
Two of the best right there. Not exactly in sync but grooving off each other and reacting in very short time. Playing thru the Eric Johnson signature speaker LOL love it!
@mixermantim Awesome show this year. We launched a signature Eric Johnson speaker, and three new pro audio drivers. Attendance for the show was significantly higher than previous years, a good sign for our industry.
wow masters at the guitar!!! I use to have a old Jazz guitar teacher in 1980 in Montreal on Decarie boul. his name was Frank Quinn. He would hold his guitar just like Eric, picking with left and the strings upside down.
No, Jimi switched string positions even though he used a right handed guitar. See for yourself: /watch?v=fBgyXXnbfBc . THIS guy is a leftie AND he's playing upside down (high e top, low e bottom).
legend says he played with the strings upside down when playing right-handed to please his dad. He took right-handed guitars, inverted the strings to play left-handed with the low strings on top unlike Eric Gales, Albert King or Otis Rush and then when playing for his dad who wanted him to play right-handed, his low strings would be at the bottom... I think
Hope they make a Record together.Tomos sound reach to me in germany and iam happy to found Tomo and Eric also here on youtube.Mister Tomo Fujita i saw in Berklee videos with John Mayer and since this iam a fan.How all he plays the Guitar its inspire me to involve it to my playing on Guitar! all the best :-)
they went to work!!!!!! ay dios mio. crazy story. i left plenty comments on tomos youtube tutorial videos years ago before i knew who he actually was and he replied to a bunch of those shits lmao. i had no idea that i was talkin to a guitar god. now i watch videos on his channel to see the conversation lol
Love this, it demonstrates how music unites us all, regardless of cultural, ethnic, sexual, and geographical differences, like love it's something we all understand and relate to, which is why I follow music not political bullshit.
I love Phil X , But between his band and this one, I haven't heard so many people Butcher Jimi's song "Little Wing" in my life. If you want to hear a GREAT RENDITION of it...Go Listen to Steve Vai...Live at Astoria London and listen to something that would have made the hair on Jimi's arms stand up and gave him the chills , as it did me..
At the end Tomo plays that sweet John Mayer kind of bend but Eric's like "No way dude" just totally ripping like probly one the fattest, cleanest, and most elongated EJ style lines like everr 🤣 I love Gales
The EVM12L would be cleaner and more neutral. The EJ1250 offers more harmonic detail, a natural compression when pushed because of the Alnico magnet, and nice, warm, crunchy break up.
two greats! I forgot Eric Gales plays a setup like Albert King with the Low E on the bottom. There is some crazy talent going on in this video and to think the average person will never understand their true genius.

Then why does john meyer suck?
@@rccarsandmusic2641 this made me chuckle :p

Maaaan no one understands the words that are coming out your mouth 🤣🤣
Damn man haha I burst out laughing when I read that
haaahahahahaha
make my day
Sometimes I think I'm a good guitar player and then I randomly stumble across videos like this.
No stress, music is no competition, so just KEEP ON!!! Cheers!
Don’t expect too fast, don’t compare, be kind to yourself
Thats yin and yang. Water and fire. One flows calmly, the other exploding all over 😍. Yet still connect beautifully
Yes they are talking can you see it
Thats WHAT
What u mean that guy is going way overtone man
@@Laurens-777 gales love to push for a battle. he loves it. watch his battle with joe bonamassa. its great.
@@mattamagiera haha I was joking, all love for Tomo and his friends
I don’t think we realize how legendary this video is
Totally. This is insane! And personally the most awesome “cover” I’ve seen of little wing
It is such a beautiful thing to see two musicians at this level just get lost into a conversation with each other musically and just have FUN.

"damn dude". I love how Tomo moves closer and Eric leans in. What a combo.

Both have such distinct styles, really cool version of this song.
My thoughts as well-very distinct guitarists but you can watch them learn each others language in the short duration of this video.
tomo is so deep right here
These two bring out the best in each other. This was absolutely incredible thanks for sharing this video.
3:21 " Your not close enough" " i need you to be closer. I always thought jamming was an intimate dance between 2 players, but this proves it lol
boy once they got comfy it started to sound very sweet at parts very nice!
Tomo is fantastically inside the box and Eric is in and out when it pleases him. Love it.
Love it!
If these guys had a show, I would watch it every week! :-)
Heck yes! Wow that would be amazing

Daaaaamn tomooo those are the sweetest lines played over little wing.
Every time I see Tomo Fujita play with anyone it warms my heart
This is incredible, you two really are my inspirations...maybe when i come out my cave we can jam - UK HERE
Body language says it all. They almost ended up sitting on each other's lap.
the fujita rhythm is unrivalled

Tomo’s playing is smoother than butter.

Tomo...king of Melody and Eric is icing on the cake!! Both are gifted!!
Jesus😍 I hoped Gales and Bonamassa teamed up, and they did. And now this!! God i love the cooperations between these geniuses.

Brittow I believe there were some instances where he’d play it like Eric Gales

Two of my guitar idols.
This guy playing his guitar upside down😭😍
Hendrix style!
Maybe you’re playing upside down, think about it.
At about minute 7 u ask yourself how this was ever little wing..
Lol
I asked that after 10 seconds
Tomo leads and is making flow. Incredible playing.
Now thanks to Lemmo I'm seeing Tomo everywhere
I honestly did not expect a response... thank you for your answer and time!

Tommy is really, really good. Also Eric, but Tommy is on a whole different level about improvisation and Harmony.
Late but damn tomo solo at the start was just crispy 👌👌👌
Damn tomo so tasteful solo. Hey i will glad you teach me to play like that

Poetry in motion
Now this is a crossover
Why didn't Tomo Use that Vibrato Bar-- I would like to see how he can incorporate it into the playing. Tomo makes everything seem so easy and clean.
Amazing Will Smith!
Eric is another kettle of fish, this dude will have you with sushi 🍣
yeah, and the strings aren't even reversed. talk about making it hard for yourself.
While Eric has killer chops, Tomo's playing is so much more tasteful and lyrical.
So much Tasty and Nuanced playing.... Great Google Moogly!!!!
Eric FUCKEN Gales - what a legend

rush hour 4 "the retirement"
finally it has been released to the public
Anyone know what chord changes they're using? I realize it is Little Wing, however I'm having trouble getting these chords from ear.
31v13 tune down a half step
Can anybody here explain to me what Tomo is doing when he's adding chords between the lines?
Does anyone know how the EJ1250s in a Twin reverb reissue would compare to EVM12Ls?
The EVM12L would be cleaner and more neutral. The EJ1250 offers more harmonic detail, a natural compression when pushed because of the Alnico magnet, and nice, warm, crunchy break up.
What is the model of guitar tomo is playing here?
Holy shit!
