what i love the most about him is that so down to earth. when you watch the interviews with him he is so humble and has all the respect for any other musicians. his mindset reminds me of eric clapton, once eric was asked how does it feel to be the best guitar player and eric's answer was i don't know, you should ask prince.
Absolutely. Hendrix wrote this when he was 24 years old. Such a genius. Then followed with Little Wing, Castles Made of Sand and a plethora of beautiful songs…still unmatched writing for the guitar. Hendrix is the true 🐐 and Eric can channel him through his playing and can capture the emotion of the song perfectly. We’re lucky to have Eric Gales. Eric said this song made him cry the first time he heard it as a kid. His chordal work is an extension of the Hendrix-esque style but with his own interpretation…playing upside down and lefty gives him the opportunity to make so many new chordal voicings that we’ve never heard before. A virtuoso interpreting a genius. This really makes me sad that Jimi died and with stories of foul play and wine being poured down his throat after it was found in his lungs and never turned over after choking and waiting to call the ambulance…his manager Mike Jeffrey who he was trying to get away from, was a well known criminal and to be involved in organized crime in England and America. With Jimi dead, he wouldn’t lose his cash cow and could control what happens to his music and publishing. But karma got him and he died in a mid air plane crash. Regardless of all that…Hendrix wrote some of the most beautiful music ever created and truly knew how to write for his instrument and was a revolutionary and a force in music we are yet to see matched..maybe only Jaco Pastorius was able to revolutionize the bass in the same manner but Jimi did it all in 3 years, all by 27 years old. To me, he’s the ultimate genius in modern music. RIP 🪦 Jimi 🦅 🎸 🔥
I can honestly say, this is the echelon of artistry in rock guitar today... here among us is this boundless passion, energy, & spontaneous creativity this gent seems to channel beyond measure & without fault. I've heard all the notes before... heard all the licks before... heard all the tones before.... heard all the chops before.... but I've never experienced it from such a consistently inspired realm as in the realm of Eric Gales. This man is a gift to the universe.
Yep that’s the spirit of the music, the spirit of Hendrix style, Eric Gales talent, and this wonderful performance. Even though , scuse me, um forgot the lyrics a bit, maybe tomorrow I just can’t say
Pretty much instantly my favorite artist. His sound and style are dominate among the rest. He's one of those that can hold one note and sound better then others playing every lick in their arsonal.
***** you are just amazing ...thank god i met your music so long ago when i was 13 years old !... I can honestly say you are one of my main influences !!!! blessings !!!
Thank you, Two Tone, you've done a great service! Finally, after decades of total brilliance, someone has seen fit to give Eric a well-filmed, well-recorded forum for his performance. Now please go on to do the same for the next guy who is most deserving of this treatment: Richie Kotzen! Oh shit! Just noticed you've gotten him!
Wow !! Eric is awesome, I've always thought that. He just keeps branching out and getting better. Killer rhythm section too. Ralph Macchio plays a mean rhythm guitar lol. One of my favorite Hendrix tunes done very well.
Ok my mind is blown ! Great performance and excellent version of this song I remember listening to Are you experienced on my turn table for the first time when i was 14 yrs old and looking at the thing like it was broken then realizing This is music it can be stripped down to guitar and drums and have interludes that don't follow a formula structure
That was a beautiful interpretation of one of my favorite Hendrix songs... Couldn't help but notice the right-hand guitar being played truly left-handed that is how I learned how to play I'm sure Jimi plucked his guitar that way before he switched the string to a true left-handed formation it gives you such a different way of looking at the guitar... Playing tight scales upside-down is amazingly difficult .. they will not sound like right-handed scales.. very unique.. awesome bro I diggs it💯
Holy shit man!!! Amazing song choice and incredible cover of it I’m amazed, Hendrix is a mastermind and you somehow managed to play this beautiful song
Does Eric Gales intentionally stay away from the limelight? For the life of me, I can't understand why this man is not world renowned as one of the best guitarists on the planet. There is absolutely nothing he can't play and play it well.
There's a interview he did for Anderton's Music, he said that he got involved with drugs and crime and because of that his name didn't get as big as other similar artists.
Ok.....I have been listening to Jimi since I was a youngster. I have been playing guitar for around 27 years. I know Hendrix stuff, I have played Jimi for so long, he influenced my guitar playing through Red House, I have a tattoo of him....I'm a fan. Listen to me, I wept when this kicked open around 3:48. I cannot believe how moving this little bit here is, it's like Jimi himself was making it again, but then not. Better, but the same, but not the same....I dunno what you'd even classify this as, but EG if Jimi could look down and see this he would grab his 68 Strat and come trade you licks.......and man I would sell my soul for that show, believe that...... Cooper Brown, was that the bassists name? Crushed it my man!!!
ONE LOVE TO EVRYONE !
I am a Hendrix purists . I want my Hendrix unadulterated . Leave it the freak alone with your interpretations . WHY DO I REALLY LIKE THIS ??? I must be getting old or maybe he’s really good . I’ll have another whiskey and have another listen .
Great cover imho! Maybe they are friends from childhood, but I just don't understand why this guy has a second gutarist camping/ killing flies next to him..Maybe is just fender that pays to have two strat on stage..
It's a messy take on the song. In my opinion it was meant to be a ballad that explores the natures of love hence hendrix uses images like the waterfall and rainbows to describe how love feels. This is why he deliberately plays every note with gentleness but still backs it with the roll that we know Hendrix can do. It's a delicate balance but he still perfected it.
the passion this guy puts in playing guitar is simply incredible and rare!
+Dario Brignone including his talent..for sure
This song and performance has Eric Johnson's smell all over, another underrated hero
The intro to this performance is incredible👌🤯
one of the top 10 guitar players and most people have no clue.
He should be a household name.
what i love the most about him is that so down to earth. when you watch the interviews with him he is so humble and has all the respect for any other musicians. his mindset reminds me of eric clapton, once eric was asked how does it feel to be the best guitar player and eric's answer was i don't know, you should ask prince.
Eric’s a genius operating on his own plane.
One of the most beautiful ballads ever written. Poignant and simply exquisite....
Great song. Actually one of the best written in 50 years
Yes indeed
THE best.

Amen!
Eric takes this fantastic song and completely makes it his own. Bravo, Mr. Gales.
Love it when an accomplished player such as Eric Gales plays his own interpretation of a Hendrix song and brings it off !
Absolutely one of the best things on UA-cam I’ve hung out with Jimi’s cousin a few times and he kills it on guitar
Beautiful. That intro in the beginning. Eric Gales. The Man. Genius.
Eric Gale is extraordinary, but Hendrix is untouchable.
AMEN
Fantastic! Elements of Hendrix, Eric Gales, Stevie Wonder and Eric Johnson. Love it!!
Yep that’s the spirit of the music, the spirit of Hendrix style, Eric Gales talent, and this wonderful performance. Even though , scuse me, um forgot the lyrics a bit, maybe tomorrow I just can’t say

That was a beautiful interpretation of one of my favorite Hendrix songs... The bassist is Ugo Perrotta. All three are brazilian. This was recorded here in Brazil.
Thank you Eric.

This guy is a hidden jewl
Phukn A !! ✌
sounded like John Mayer singing...great guitar playing...
As much as I enjoy Mayer in terms of guitar work, I don't think his vocals come close to this guy.
I am a Hendrix purists . I want my Hendrix unadulterated . Leave it the freak alone with your interpretations . WHY DO I REALLY LIKE THIS ??? I must be getting old or maybe he’s really good . I’ll have another whiskey and have another listen .
Because it comes from the same place that it originally came from. True to the music!
He does so much more than the Jimi work but damn.... Eric is the shite man :-) Love'em!

for a cover, i'll go with the pretenders

are you sure youre not hendrix?
I like hendrix version better but eric gales is cool
This dude plays a right handed guitar left handed strung right handed. Wtf?!
+Jeffery jd Just like Albert King
Erkel and karate kid do a mean Hendrix
Nah. Doesn’t flow like the original. Not gentle like the original. Not a love song like the original.
