your "little improvised" song was deeply touching. im sitting here at 4am with tears in my eyes. Tears of love, happienes, warmth, trust and a huge amount of melancholy. Thank you
6 voice polyphony single-handedly makes it so much more useful. The 3 voice limitation is a big part of why I sold it originally despite the massive sonic potential. Reverb definitely smooths out some of the harsher fm sounds as well.
Another one that didn't know there was a Volca FM 2. 64 patches and 6 voice polyphony are welcome additions. What's great about this getting a refresh is that v1 is not obsolete. It can be a dedicated bass FM bass synth.
Whoa! I saw Loopop uploaded his video and during it I went "Cuckoo absolutely loved the Volca FM, can't wait for him to grab one of these in May and push it." ..... and YOU ALREADY HAVE IT.
Your first Volca FM Mega tutorial was incredibly helpful to me, let me thank you for all your quality content, it is always so inspiring! Regards from Argentina!
I feel like this was the peak of inspirational product release videos. Lately everyone in the online music space seems burnt out on product releases, terrified of triggering someone's GAS out, and/or like they're trying to avoid being called a shill like it's the plague. 😂 Seriously, though. It's been two years and I still come back to this video when I need to feel inspired. I even bought a Volca FM2 in large part because of this video. So, thank you. Hope you're doing well. 😊
Love the fm vibes and also the roland drum machine :) A great combo indeed , and of course your voice played a big role too ! Continue to make more great music , love it
I expect that you pull out a video with the Volca Fm2 driving a NTS-1 via the FM 2 midi out. It seems that NOBODY has made a video yet on the Midi out awesomeness Korg has finally donated us mortals... Cheerz! You showed Midi clock out!!! I Knew it!!! Great Coockoo!! Feels like a subway jam also!!! Hats full!!! Increibles!!
wow, been debating about getting a yamaha dx, stumbled into this this morning, and geez, what tasty and heartfelt songwriting! the sounds of the volca are nice! and i really feel these lyrics! much love cuckoo
Very nice. Not sure I'll rush out to sell my original, but may upgrade at some point. Love the composition too. Nice to see the process of composing and adding lyrics.
I can understand it why you might want/need the Volca FM2, if you need a portable FM synth with keyboard level polyphony. But if you're just using the Volca FM for mucking around, basslines and such, the original is still pretty good (and has full sized MIDI in!)
I just decided that I would really like to dip into synth but I can’t even fathom spending the hundreds on most but this little beast is damn near within my financial grasp! Anyway, being new to all this, I’ve found out about this guy and the content is rad and inspirational! I’ll be diving more into these vids whether I actually get a synth or not!
I just bought the Yamaha Reface DX, but this is still on my wish list. You can never have too much FM 😄. Sounds really great and what a really nice song you composed. Love your voice. Wish I could sing like that. I tried recording my voice once and thought it sounded nice till I replayed the track and was shocked! Haha 😂
I did some investigation and, upon slowing down the footage, come to the conclusion after extensive viewing, the acceleration of the devices through the air gives the sound of molecules being excited when Cuckoo's lips move. I don't know, I am still waiting for forensics audio dept to get back to me. Doppler FM in the house!!!
Great vocals and lyrical content. The sounds truly inspire. Love the possibilities you explored with the volca. This is definitely a tune you need to write in full and possibly imagine a surreal video compliment to bring the song full circle. 🧡🔥✌😍👍🔥🧡
A quite awesome machine! Just clicked in to see how it sounded. Ended up hearing a beautiful song! I really like it. Yes, finish it and release it. So glad you are sharing your journey!!
Lovely track 'sketch', sounded already sooo good in its rawness. Love the sound engine of the FM so much, and it was you who sold me on it like two years ago, thanks for that :) Although Microfreak has become my go-to polyphonic synth, I still use the FM super often, especially for sub bass. It sounds sooo thick and the evolving character of the FM is real cool.
DANG those stock patches are pretty inviting and you cooked up a nice jam right off! You can really hear the benefit that the additional voices add. The patches have more dimension...very cool!
I got as far as “DX7 sound engine compatibility” before searching for somewhere in the UK that has them in stock, oh well will have to wait. Beautiful gentle song with your style stamped all over it.
Thanks mate! Yeah they’ll come available in stores shortly I bet. If the launch is today, and stock of the old Volca FM is more or less empty everywhere, I’m expecting stock of the new one to be imminent.
Great video as alway! I really love the song you started in this. I think the minimalist sound of these two instruments and your voice really works with the lyrics. Bring it into your next album! ❤️
Long awaited reunion of the volca fm and the Cuckoo....yes finish the song please and if possible, put it on Bandcamp? Those drums were a perfect companion. I don't have one of those but hoping I can make a similar kit with the volca drum and a Boss Dr-3 . Thankyou
I’m not going to splash out on another volca fm but this song makes me want to dig my old volca fm out and plug it into some guitar reverb. I never did really learn it properly as an instrument. At the time I found the built in keyboard too frustrating. Next I’ll check out the tutorial video and maybe give it the device another chance.
Was thinking of pairing this Volca FM 2 with my Microkorg, which incidentally I uplaoded Cuckoos patches to, they gave a whole new life to my Microkorg. I suck at patches but am ok on guitar, you have to pick your battles, I'm fine with taking patches from people who really know how to build them and altering to taste/mood, or not at all.
Loving the impulsivity to just start writing lyrics in the middle of the video! Now you definitely jumped up to the top of youtube reviewers in my book 🙏🏻🫡
Omg! Excellent 👌 I was hoping korg would do this one day but keep the beautiful aesthetics and that new green screen is the truth! We can make some serious ambient now.
Nice 1, great vibe on the song. I think rolling all the bass off the vocals and using loads of saturation (like thru an old phone) could really work on this song.
cool jam ! Def would be ok hearing a full song version. i forget how volca fm has some really nice sounds inside but i can hear some of those here for sure.
Personally, this is my favorite thing I've heard you make in a while. It is right up my alley and you have a beautiful voice. Nice one! What are you writing your lyrics on?
As great as the FM2 appears to be, this video was a reminder that I don't need new gear, I need to learn songwriting skills!
Thank you 🙏🏼 I think it’s an important message. Music is more important than gear.
A reminder for us all.
The best thing that got me to the next level musically was an acoustic piano. I never thought it would make such a drastic improvement
I'm so impressed with how little this man needs to inspire others like me. A volca and a drum machine is all Cuckoo needs to make great music!
💕 thank you for so much, Jay 🙏🏼
your "little improvised" song was deeply touching. im sitting here at 4am with tears in my eyes. Tears of love, happienes, warmth, trust and a huge amount of melancholy. Thank you
Any links yo listen full song?
What on earth are you on?! I wouldn't mind some! 😅
I immediately bought the Volca FM2 after watching this video. Awesome song, Cuckoo! Very inspiring!
Your jam was really good, man.

Seriously, that bass preset on the volca 1 is something i use all the time. So useful!
Thank you for giving me a reason to buy another one
That's so cool! Your first Volca FM video actually got me starting on my synth journey, I had so much fun with this thing
wasup aldo i'm a fan

3:15 Holy moly that put me right up on my seat.

different velocity when we play the keyboard is ALL in a FM synth. Expression, inspiration.
Immediately subbed after seeing your intro. No regrets after seeing you start that song! Awesome.
Thank you for the review / reveal and song Cuckoo. It’s always a pleasure to check out your videos. 👍🏼
That song was amazing! thanks - exactly the song I needed today.
Dude. You’re so on point it’s crazy. Keep living your best life my brotha, thank you for the endless inspiration. Beautiful song
amazing presentation and such a great, pristine voice! not to mention the profound lyrics
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Cuckoo the performance was absolutely beautiful , please do finish it
Your first Volca FM Mega tutorial was incredibly helpful to me, let me thank you for all your quality content, it is always so inspiring!

great showcase! the extra voices make this thing a no-brainer

Wow…so talented. I wish I could come out with voice melodies like that. Love the feeling you bring into what you compose. 💛
❤️❤️❤️
Seriously liking the vibe you got going here.
I love your videos and your music. Although you don't usually go for what I'd normally prefer, your music always feel so sincere and naked
Love the fm vibes and also the roland drum machine :) A great combo indeed , and of course your voice played a big role too ! Continue to make more great music , love it
I didn't even know a second FM dropped
I'm quite excited for the expansion and polyphony
You heard it here first :D The expanded polyphony is making a big difference.
It dropped 5 minutes ago. All your favourite UA-camrs are posting reviews simultaneously.
4:40 yeah we want you to finish the song!!
Thank you Michael 🙏🏼

And once again a super lovely song from you! Great sounds and the melody is sweetly haunting. Bass is perfect.

True Cuckoo and David Elsewhere - 2 artists that I enjoy without fail. Thank you ❤
To be praised bunched together with David Elsewhere is a true honour!! I love watching him move! ❤️🙏🏼😭
Very nice. Not sure I'll rush out to sell my original, but may upgrade at some point. Love the composition too. Nice to see the process of composing and adding lyrics.
Nice song. You're the only one to use the midi out on this machine. I wish you good continuation.
I really enjoyed this super chill jam!
Really enjoying your improvised songs/sketches. I’m always so impressed.
This is so cool!! I always knew VolcaFM had some punch packed into it!
I can understand it why you might want/need the Volca FM2, if you need a portable FM synth with keyboard level polyphony. But if you're just using the Volca FM for mucking around, basslines and such, the original is still pretty good (and has full sized MIDI in!)
Most waitable feature for me - polyphony more than 3 voices!
Really nice song loved the feeling changes throughout the song and restraint on the arrangement. You're a really good composer, period!
