I stayed there in Kas for few days a few years ago as part of a two month trip around Turkey....a very easy country to travel by bus. Lovely to go down memory lane watching your video. I first watched your videos on traveling to Kathmandu before going there last year and it was very helpful in preparing me for what to expect. Thank you. I am still not quite used to seeing you outside of Asia without your Hindu god shirt! Glad to see that you are still traveling while I am stuck at home. I will just enjoy your videos for now. Aloha
Kas is a resort town, many cruise yacht anchor for the night in the harbor, including the Gulet/yacht I took last June. There are bars which open until 3am for the party goers. The crystal clear water is just amazing. This type of resorts are not feature on the news, only political conflicts, but it's good for those who like to travel on the lesser know town, who don't like over tourism to ruin the environment.
looks idyllic I moved my ticket to start at Istanbul to next May as lockfowns again in UK but you have definely cheered me up after 8 months isolating here ... yes ferries cut but they ll soon be back again ... amazing how you capture exact atmosphere wherever you go ..you really travel everywhere as a lot of vloggers just go kind of luxury route but this is great viewpoint ... I miss Turkey have been quite a few times now since 1997 .. Bodrum I love as so close to many beauty spots .. and Kas is in a few films ...thanks again Gabe
Enjoying your Turkey videos Gabriel. The new hotel looks great. Especially for the price. I quite like that little beach you popped in towards the beginning of the video. It would be great if you be the there while it was empty. And how cool is the amphitheater. Incredible view from the top.
We’re here in Kas today 😃. Came back to see if we managed to visit all the spots you hit. It’s a beautiful little town. We found some tombs on the hillside overlooking the town which were interesting. There is also a tomb and a few sarcophaguses just over the back wall and a short walk from the amphitheater. I noticed them from our balcony but not many people seem to make the effort to look over that way as there are no signs to explain or show the way.
Nice room hotel, sandals are the right choice for tourists, the building that was converted into a mosque is very nice (1000 years ago? Wow!) And the atmosphere is very warm and cozy. I think the area is very suitable for tourists 👍
Hi Gabriel, I’m currently in Kas and it’s been 4 weeks now and one more ahead. I must say Kas in reality much more beautiful then it looks on camera, it’s breathtaking nature around you and lots of fresh air. Restaurants serve only for takeaway now, and there is lockdown on weekends, so town is quit empty compare to your video. For the long term it’s actually really great cause it doesn’t feel like touristic place and you just relax. It’s a pity you didn’t show road to the peninsula from the other way of the town, it has very stunning bays. About internet - I stayed (so far) in 2 apartments and I noticed in advance that I have to have fast internet as I work remotely (Some owners warned me honestly it’s not), so I choose after confirmation only. Also you can have very good discount if you rent for month (I have got 40% discount, I rent duplex apartment with 2 bedrooms and 1 big dinning room+kitchen, 2 balconies, in the center, where all shops are, old town). To me also important how many good quality food here - greens, veggies, fruits, peanut butter(local), nuts in general, home eggs, fresh fish, fresh bread in the bakery by very convenient price. On fridays they have small market where prices even lower - local farmers sell tangerines, bananas, cheese, etc. for those who want get lost, have positive energy from locals, tones love from cats and doggies, eat fresh food, waste time on beaches - best option. Gabriel, cheers!
Wow, a nice place! If you did not tell us it is in Turkey, i might well be mistaken it is some greek island. Have visited quite a few aegean islands, and landscape of Kas area is so...greek looking!
Υour videos are always enjoyable...great job.👌👍. I just want to make a note: at 6:50 the island that you are pointing is not a Turkish island, it's Greek and is called ''Strongyli''. At 6:59 also the island located west of Kastellorizo is Greek and is called ''Ro'' or ''Rho''. Greetings from Kos island - Greece...to you Gabriel and to the neighbors 👋😉.
My very short visit to KAS was from a different angle, I was on a Turkish Gulet/yacht 3 days cruise in June 2019, departing from Fethiye to Demre, with many stops, including St Nicholas Island (yes, Santa Claus was supposedly born there) and the yacht anchor for the night in Kas. The main square/harbor still looks familiar, I bought 4 fabulous Turkish 100% towels in Kas. By day, it's so colorful & sunny, by night, all the bars were full of tourist partying until 3am, including my shipmates. We all slept under the stars on the yacht instead of our cabins, because the weather was so perfect and it's easier to watch sunrise. The is a famous World Heritage site, the Cleo Patra Haman (bath), where all the tour boat can swing by but no swimming allow. I would love to re visit these island via the all inclusive yacht cruise again.
You are so fortunate to have been there before the earthquake. Now we can see how it was before that horrible disaster. Thanks again. I have subscribed.
I must be lucky, I’am staying in Kas right now, May 28th 2022 and the internet/WiFi is very good in my hotel called La Luna, in fact even the restaurant I went too was also very good. So maybe they’ve improved the internet since you were last here! In fact I uploaded a few vlogs with incredible speed on my own channel
Hard to blame you when borders are not marked on the map, but the first island that you pinpointed at 6:51 is also Greek and is called Stroggili (meaning round-shaped). The same holds for the "Ro" island at the left of the bigger "Megisti" (meaning largest) Island. All three Greek islands constitute the Kastellorizo group of islands. The main Greek island (Megisti) is in fact an awesome place with good infrastructure and picturesque main town that is absolutely worth visited from Kas. Unfortunately, this is not possible thse days due to a number of reasons as you pointed out. Thanks.
if you get chance shuffle along the coast to a resort called side. the history of the place is amazing and in last 60 years they have been excavating the ancient city it's absolutey amazing to see. enjoying the videos thanks for bringing these beautiful places to us. safe travels take care
The reason for the slow internet is the poor internet infrastructure. If you want some good beaches, hit up Muğla (if you didn't yet). And if you go there I would recommend getting on a tour of Marmaris and Sedir Island. When I went there they picked us up near our hotel and brought us to a boat which took us island to island. They have great historical locations and attractions from Ottomans, Greeks, and a lot of Kleopatra beaches.
I spend my Vacations since 14 years in Aperlai/ Lycien pilgrim or by boat to reach, very close to Kas. Few Times visited Mise / Castellorizo, which is very famous for the stunning cove, where in you can swim. Lots of rich people have their summer residence in Mise. Its 20 minutes by ferry boat from Kas and you need to bring your passport along with you- as you know its Greece😊 Sad that you cant visit it. You have to Code again dear Gabriel🙂
Great video Gabe. I’m loving the Turkey trip. I’ve actually decided to take a solo trip (My wife works for the government and isn’t allowed to leave the country) to Turkey since US citizens are allowed in. I got my Visa today and I’m Leaving on Oct 25! This is my first real solo vacation trip, any tips for a newbie? I’ve traveled solo for business plenty, but this feels different! I’m very excited and a little nervous 😎
Sweet. Depends how long you have but for a first trip I would recommend Istanbul and Cappadocia as the top destinations. And if you have more than a week then head to the south coast. Fly into either Antalya (I'll be showing it in upcoming videos) and check out the ruins of Side, Perge and Aspendos or else fly into Dalaman and hit the beach towns of Dalyan, Fethiye, Oludeniz, Kas.
@@GabrielTravelerVideos I’ll be there for 9 nights. The tentative plan is a few days in Istanbul, definitely Cappadocia, and I’m super interested in seeing the ruins of Ephesus, so I’m thinking of staying a few days in the Izmir area. Thanks for the tips. I’ll check those places out!
Spent a few days trying to rebook a SFO flight with a voucher with Turkish Airlines. Lax office was the best as they got me new ticket for November 1st. Wasted lots of time talking to main customer service line. Best just to communicate through e mail. It’s amazing there still direct flights from SFO to Istanbul without too many restrictions.

One of the comments below mentioned the slow internet speed is intentional. It reminds me of life before the internet and cell phones. I would be happy to live out my days there. 😎
Gabriel I read about the wifi problems you r facing, have you ever thought of a wifi dongle adapter with some antennas on it. This might make your life easier when in a room far away from a router. I think a device like that might give you at least a better reception and some more wifi bars eventually. By the way, very nice videos as always
Gabriel, I am very impressed with your travel vlogs. Really enjoy it. I have a question. Many a times I see you travelling to remote locations and dark, blind alleys. It is not easy to carry the backpack and your camera in hand. Is it dangerous to travel? Hope you have never been a victim. Also, sometimes I see jumping into sea and taking pictures. Is your camera waterproof? How do you safeguard your valuables while swimming? Raj
Ah Gab, galling to be so close to the island due to Covid but I can assure you, much more galling to be stuck in the UK, in many cases unable to even visit the next town 😷 Still, enjoying your videos as usual, I'll need them more the colder and worse it gets here. 🥶
@@themissdior1235 Sorry to hear that. I am mostly locked away at home, apart from shopping tips and walks, partly through my own choice as I worry about people's behaviour but I haven't seen family either since March. Fingers crossed for all of us 🤞
I appreciate and enjoy your videos Bro'. You cover many places I've been and more recently, where I want to go. Stay single! (is my "Old Dude" advice to you!) Have you done Morocco yet? It's one of my old haunts. First time in 1970 and 3 more times since. I love Tangier, Chachouen, Fez, Marrakech, Essaouira. You seem to have an excellent community. That says something in a hate-filled medium! The ability to not offend may outweigh the ability to make friends nowadays! Stay healthy.
@@GabrielTravelerVideos Fantastic Bro'....you are probably the ONLY guy...in the right place right now. On the Road...finding places you can enter. You may want to consider Tibet, Bhutan. I know you were close there in N. India. I am expecting some kind of extreme, "extinction-level event" which is coming. (and No, I'm not completely out of my mind!...lol) I am a practitioner of Dzogchen (Ati Yoga, taught to Padmasambhava by Garab Dorje) in Oddiyana - (today's Swat Valley in N. Pakistan...in the 6-7th C.) Dzogchen is practiced primarily by the Nyingma sect of Tibetan Buddhism. I also study megalithic structures left LONG before the years given to us by "mainstream" Archaeologists. The reason 9/11 happened was to get soldiers into Iraq, where Sadam had his hands on some ancient, very high technology - hidden in the Bagdad Museum's basement. You may have heard about the 15' tall,m red-haired giant (with 6 fingers on each hand and foot, and 2 rows of teeth) who killed U.S. soldiers in the caves of N. Afghanistan until it was neutralized by a dedicated platoon of Special Forces. We also recently found the tomb of the proverbial "Gilgamesh" under a riverbed in Iraq - where it was said to lay, according to ancient writings. Remote viewers (specifically Dr. Courtney Brown of Emory Univ. and Major Ed Dames - former C.I.A. remote viewing trainer) have clearly seen an extremely reduced population on this planet in the year 2050, living in sparse "agrarian settlements" by the time 2050 they are well-settled, which means that the preceding disaster must take place 20 + years BEFORE 2050 (meaning...ANY time!) It could be solar flares or a comet impact...even a volcanic event is possible. This is just to say, keep your e Thanks for writing. I appreciate it!
@@bradbryant332 I'd love to go to both Bhutan and Tibet, super high on my list. I guess we'll see what happens. It's a strange time for humans these days, anything could happen.
Would you be allowed to take the ferry to the island Kastellorizo since Americans are not allowed to enter Greece right now? Maybe there would be an exception for such a small island. I am very curious to know. Looks like a cool place.
Ferry’s to the close by Greek islands only run during the summer peak season months. Not enough business rest of year, at least this was the situation when the travelled along the Mediterranean Coast of Turkey, March and April 2019
Nice. Curious to see what speedtest.net would inform you about internet speeds for an IT nerd like me. Also love hiring a bike anywhere I go, cover a greater distance and still be engaged with the environment, came across in the video too.

What do you think about the drink ayran? As a Turkish person I love it but many tourists don't like it.
> The 'Athens Convention' on archaeological restoration states that newly refurbished elements are to be clearly discernible from any existing work that remains in place. Hence the different coloured stonework in the Antiphellos amphitheatre.
Hi Gabriel. We encountered the glacial internet speed in Kalkan and had to hotfoot it out of there the same day due to my work being online lol. Sounds like it is a problem in the area. Of you need a place to crash with far internet in Antalaya, let me know. I'm American and my fiance is from Iran and we have our own global crazy covid story that beats any movie lol. Thanks for the video. 🙏Ben
Great videos of Turkey. I am researching which town to to live in Turkey. I do live streams on UA-cam so I need fast wifi. From an American point of view did you find any town that was a hit for you? I am looking at Antalya and Side and around. Many thanks
Antalya is a great choice. You'll probably find the wifi is variable depending on where you're staying, but you should be able to find fast wifi somewhere in the city. I made a video there as well: ua-cam.com/video/G18xPJFwFhQ/v-deo.html
@@GabrielTravelerVideos Thanks Gabriel I would have to go and test the wifi as it is crucial for my business and would be shooting from my own apartment either rented or purchased.
@@GabrielTravelerVideos gracias Gabriel I am going to watch all of your videos. Is there one place in the world that you have travelled that would be a good base for an expat in your opinion? I can tell by your comments you really like Greece.
If you get your own place then I would imagine you should be able to get high-speed wifi, but of course it will depend a lot on where you end up staying. You also might look into Goreme in Cappadocia, great area to stay for a while. Yes I love Greece but wifi can be a real problem, especially out on the islands, which are the best places to be. But the internet will be extremely variable there. And of course the problem now is Covid and where you can actually go. Most of Europe is looking bad right now with lockdowns and borders closed. Mexico is fully open and there are lots of nice spots all around the country.
@@GabrielTravelerVideos Gracias Gabriel I am looking for a long term relocation location starting after getting the vaccine and open borders so am in no rush but would like to narrow it down. I did hear that WiFi in Greece had improved a lot. Many people were getting the dish and putting it on their balcony. It was terrible last time I was in Athens in 2017 but heard it has since improved. I would also prefer somewhere cheaper in cost. I always seem to go back to Thailand for long stays. I am tossing up between Thailand and Turkey right now. I don’t have papers for Western Europe otherwise would probably choose Italy as I speak fluent Italian. This is one of my other channels, sorry for any confusion 🌞 Amira
Exactly. This was even worse than anywhere I went in Greece, but pretty close. I remember on Corfu once it took two or three days to get a video posted.
@@SoloTravelerOffTheBeatenPath I think you can consider yourself very lucky. It took me days to upload videos in Athens, Leros, and Patmos, I just gave up on Santorini and Kos, but Symi was ok for me.

Hey fella, love your vids - what room number was that at The Hasbesos?
Gabriel just found your channel and it’s awesome, at the start of this video is that your hotel if so which hotel is it please x
You’ve just answered my question in the video x
Cool.
Fingers crossed for all of us 🤞
Persian Empire was the first empire to occupy this area, 5:46 those letters written on the wall are actually Farsi letters.
Very nice thank you Gabriel.
I appreciate and enjoy your videos Bro'. You cover many places I've been and more recently, where I want to go. Stay single! (is my "Old Dude" advice to you!)
Have you done Morocco yet? It's one of my old haunts. First time in 1970 and 3 more times since. I love Tangier, Chachouen, Fez, Marrakech, Essaouira.
You seem to have an excellent community. That says something in a hate-filled medium! The ability to not offend may outweigh the ability to make friends nowadays!
Stay healthy.
Cool man. Yes I've been to Morocco, here are the vids: ua-cam.com/video/OkQSDU2v8vc/v-deo.html
Courtney Brown of Emory Univ. and Major Ed Dames - former C.I.A. remote viewing trainer) have clearly seen an extremely reduced population on this planet in the year 2050, living in sparse "agrarian settlements"
by the time 2050 they are well-settled, which means that the preceding disaster must take place 20 + years BEFORE 2050 (meaning...ANY time!)
It could be solar flares or a comet impact...even a volcanic event is possible. This is just to say, keep your e
Thanks for writing.
0:40 this Indian bed sheet has travelled to more countries than any of its siblings :D
Awe I wanna go love it
Welcome TO TURKEY
did you remember to bring cash to Kas?
What is it like?
@@mtballard4044
it is basically butter milk
@@mohamedkabha6861 Sounds nice to be fair 👏
@@mtballard4044 yeah I actually love it, it grows on you
Indian restaurants in the US add mango or other fruit flavors to Ayran or Yogurt which seem to work well.
Well done 👍
Haha that Deriya beach should win a prize for smallest beach in the world 4:16.
> The 'Athens Convention' on archaeological restoration states that newly refurbished elements are to be clearly discernible from any existing work that remains in place. Hence the different coloured stonework in the Antiphellos amphitheatre.
Hi Gabriel, another great video, loved the ampitheater! Bummer about the internet there. What case is that you are using on your DJI Osmo Action?
It's actually the windslayer I bought for my Gopro 7, but it fits almost perfectly.
🙏Ben
16:30 Gabriel has arrived 😂👏
@@GabrielTravelerVideos Gracias Gabriel
I am looking for a long term relocation location starting after getting the vaccine and open borders so am in no rush but would like to narrow it down. This is one of my other channels, sorry for any confusion 🌞
Amira
That’s cool that they preserved their history . The population must be a real mix of different nationalities it seems very peaceful no?
Internet speed sounds a lot like Greece. I loved Greece, but the internet speed was hard to work with.
Exactly. This was even worse than anywhere I went in Greece, but pretty close. I remember on Corfu once it took two or three days to get a video posted.
That interesting, I had great internet everywhere I went in Greece. Even the more remote islands.
@@SoloTravelerOffTheBeatenPath I think you can consider yourself very lucky. It took me days to upload videos in Athens, Leros, and Patmos, I just gave up on Santorini and Kos, but Symi was ok for me. I hope they step up speeds all around, Greece was so incredible I hope to go back and spend a lot more time.
@@GabrielTravelerVideos ah man, those multi-day uploads are tough. Thanks for keeping the videos coming, they're helping to motivate me to get back at it myself.
They’ve got to get decent reliable WiFi everywhere these days, it’s just as important as water and electric now!
That is very sad, well when I traveled , I unpluged everything.
and enjoy the Present moment.

I do, too. But, I still like to be able to keep in touch with family & friends when away. I’m not on any social media.
I think download speed is fine.
You have got to be a SAGITTARIUS...I am and your missing the Greek Island is sooo much me, love you!
Where is the nearest airport Gabe? Great video thanks, enjoy & stay safe
