  • Me being a cheapskate decides to purchase an HDMI ARC audio extractor rather than getting a soundbar. Screw capitalism right?

    You are the man!!!
    I have been fighting this for a couple years.
    Bluetooth disconnects every time tv is shut off, and my mother of 90 years has no clue to reconnect.
    This is so cool! It's criminal that ALL MANUFACTURERS have taken the 3.5 and audio RCA's off the TV's.
    Anyway, you have made my year!!!

    My tv goes from HDMI ARC to an HDMI on my mini computer. the 3.5mm from comp to speaker (Stanmore II Marshall) and all works fine also. To play my laptop on speaker, i added additionally usb transmitter 5.3 Aptx HD to the speaker (supports Aptx HD). There are different ways to achieve connections without breaking the bank. But indeed, as u showed in the vid. Wired is pretty easy, secure and hassle-free to handle afterwards.

    I bought an eARC HDMI extractor similar to this and successfully connected it, but I can't use the remote controller to adjust the volume... I can see that the TV tries to send digital data to increase or decrease the volume, but my sound system is a simple 2.1 Logitech speaker set, so it cannot receive any information through either from the jack or the RCA cables. It was a waste of money in my case. I guess an amplifier unit is needed that can actually handle the volume information coming from the TV. If an eARC HDMI sound extractor with a built in amplifier exists, I would be very interested in it, because I don't want to buy a soundbar or etc. But so far I haven't find anything like it.

      Yeah you need a receiver that will take hdmi arc because your audio extractor is only doing audio. I don't know how aux cord volume works but worth hdmi I know a receiver could properly handle dialing volume from tv remote

      @@marckman1411 So is there any tech like that? Coz I'm currently in a situation similar to that. I need to control the sound level from my tv remote to my 2.1 speakers which has only 3.5mm pin and a volume knob on my subwoofer. There isn't any digital display or remote separate for my speakers.

    Good video. Can you use your TV remote to change the volume while connected to the hdmi arc? I've heard that sometimes you can't do that when connected to the optical port. Thanks!

    • @MyEverydayTech
      @MyEverydayTech  Рік тому +1

      Yes you can. That's the reason I choose to extract HDMI arc audio signal.
      As for why sometimes we can't change the optical audio volume through tv, I'm still trying to find out the exact reason. Perhaps any audio expert could enlighten me on this topic.

    • @aednichols
      @aednichols Рік тому

      @@Lexington365 I don't think that's a good explanation, because HDMI is just as much a digital signal and clearly we can send commands in it that adjust volume. I think a better reason is, optical audio is designed to be line-out to an external amplifier, whose job it is to control volume. Therefore, volume commands are not present in the signal.

      . If u want to use tv speakers together u can. If yr sound bar has optical, connect it together with HDMI and u can output from tv speakers and sound bar at the same time . This is how also the Samsung symphony tv work

    2023 Samsung TVs finally support standard USB DACs! Probably you can even just add an Apple USB-C to 3,5mm dongle with an usb-c to USB-A adapter.
