Yes you will need an amp. The audio output is what is called, "Line Level Output", meaning it's only enough to drive an audio amplifier. It will not directly drive speakers, and probably will not directly drive earbuds either.
Yup, if you wanna learn about "audio levels" ua-cam.com/video/bM48k72YPu4/v-deo.html and if you want to try with a cheap amplifier, check out this video ua-cam.com/video/Q8skyeKEopg/v-deo.html
With that connected like that. Will let’s say a cable box or ps5 connected to hdmi 2 will that ark still send sound signal with the extractor to the receiver ??
you said HDMI output but does it say HDMI Out? or HDMI In? if it says OUT or HDMI ARC, then you can take audio out from there. Otherwise, you can't. Remember signals travel In or Out. I think your TV may just have HDMI in. but hopefully it says OUT or ARC.
I'll go ahead and thank you for the info. Also, you should go ahead and redo this video into how to connect a no audio jack or rca TV to an older audio system. That would bring views. How to choose an audio extractor? Will there be a significant contrast in sound quality between a low-priced and a high-priced version?
connect the new tv hdmi output to audio extractor hdmi input using an hdmi. the audio extractor will convert the signal from hdmi to rca, allowing you to connect to the older speaker. now, it does depend on which hdmi audio extractor you use, because some extractors come with the red white and yellow rca ports, which in that case, if your older speaker has an aux chord, you can get a rca to aux converter. but if you get the extractor with an hdmi output and not the one with an rca output, you might not be able to connect to the older speaker having a home theater or gaming setup that’ll get you by for now or will make you over all satisfied is something everyone deserves, sometimes it does require you to jump a few hoops or get creative. lemme know if it works!
Every place i go to,they show the HDMI on one end and on the other red, white and yellow-my amp only has connector for red and white. Can i just leave the yellow hang free?I'm trying to have my TV control a dvd, vcr, etc.I can hear them but can't see the the pics. The TV works just fine.
Do an AV receiver video ,I dont have hdmi on the receiver so wanted use my desktop to connect to receiver to play music because the way i have set it through the earphone jack on the from the back up the desktop monitor which works but isn't the best but work ,,but if i set it up better I can add more gear.thanks' a lot
Will this work for splitting the video/audio HDMI signal from a Chromecast or Firestick to a projector with HDMI for video and to an external amp with speakers with RCA for audio? So, based on your diagram, the connections would go FS or CC->Extractor HDMI IN EXTRACTOR HDMI OUT->Projector HDMI EXTRACTOR 3.5mm AUX to AMP RCA l/R jacks with AUX to RCA cable. Theoretically, FS or CC video would play on the projector and sound would come out the Amp and speakers. Correct?
Thanks for being thorough. I was concerned an extractor might completely remove audio from going to the TV but you have shown that it does not. Unfortunately, the link you provided to this device is now broken.
Your vidoes are great! Thank you so much Quick Q: After watching a few of your videos, I think this may be the solution to my problem (PS5 -> Samsung TV, yet puling audio to an old Pioneer amplifer + passive speakers); however, will i still be able to use my remote control to adjust audio? I heard that Toslink prevents you from doing so. Thanks again for your excellent work!
Welcome! And unfortunately it’s true what they say about Toslink(optical). The output that typically does let you control the volume directly from the tv is usually the headphone (auxiliary jack)
So I"m trying to connect my PC to a soundbar. The soundbar has an optical port and hdmi. But my PC does not have optical port. But I do have the Fosi K5 Pro, that has an optical port. I'm trying to figure out how to get audio. I can the see in my audio settings its reading audio signal via the USB connection to pc from Fosi. haha this is confusing.
Please consider posting a video on a widget that will convert new HDMI specs to older HDMI specs. For example if try to use a new Roku with HDMI with a tv that had older HDMI an shows HDMI specs do not match in tv display like this link shows photos.app.goo.gl/neEDSvc7fM79iF2J6
By far, the best explanation of this unit. Thank you.

I haven't tried a pricey version so I can't say. and as for the video suggestion you're right and here it is! ua-cam.com/video/CsHnqYGldj4/v-deo.html

After a lot of research my solution was to buy a new audio system.

@@SimpleCafeE that's what I thought, thank you! Will the HDMI method you describe here allow me to use my remote to control volume, then? :-)
@ziggystardew6268 I’m afraid not. As demonstrated in the video, when the volume was put up on tv- it had no effect on the speaker.

maybe this will help ua-cam.com/video/AmqbMNQ9WSs/v-deo.html and it sounds like you'll need this little converter> amzn.to/34TjONX
Done all that and still no sound from speakers new tv only has hdmi and optical still no sound through extractor box
ok so you have a tv, sound system and what's the 3rd item? (the source that you're extracting from)
I believe he is trying to extract sound from the TV (hdmi) to analog speakers (rca)
That's How I Set Up My Subwoofer Though
