Great information, thanks a lot. Just one little issue: I beg to differ about portable speakers. If I go hiking in nature, even more so in a foreign part of the world, the last thing I want to hear is someone else‘s playlist. Please, use headphones if you must.
Even tho I fully agree with you, they are really popular on the mountain and a lot of people have them. We only used ours on the last day when we were alone on the trail.
Glad you both enjoyed your first climb. As far as boots are concerned I always used Scarpa leather boots made in Italy they were wonderful but pricey and worth every cent. The great problem with modern boots are that many of them are made of manmade materials Gortex was originally made for higher altitudes and worked well and at lower altitudes they tended to sweat inside. If you are carrying your own gear you make it as light as possible even in places like the Himalaya or Karakoram the more stuff you have the more porters you need and the more you have to pay.So my advice to everyone make it as light as possible but don,t be stupid about it.
Climb Kili seems to be very efficient. The mattress is thin, but I know it is better than nothing. It is true, those boots are heavy, but are the most comfortable, that is, for me. The grip is good. Waking up early is very hard for me, but in an adventure, well.... I like that spring of water. Diamox... never heard of it and it is good to know. I was very very surprised to realize there are many people climbing, sometimes I think it is only the ones we see. The lack of oxygen thing makes me feel breathless. The place that had the least oxygen is the one that was most crowded. 12: 18 😂😂😂😂😂. That part about relieving ourselves is so so so helpful. Nice adventure.
Wowzer I am top ten to comment today lol you guys did great and the pace of walking up kili I noticed. Thanks for another fantastic video and very informative and entertaining 💕
Excellent advice and so glad you guys achieved this. Just a thought re the water my son drank direct from the source on one day only and at the end of trip, he got to the top fine, but after coming down he ended up in hospital and was very sick from drinking the water. So take care with that.
Thank you for putting together this series, we're thinking about a 2024 climb and binge watching all that we can. Really appreciate your honest thoughts and packing lists too! What was the best part of the trip? Anything you'd do differently?
The best part was summiting of course :) The only thing I'd change is to bring a "warmer" pair of boots. I still have a part of my feet that is num due to a frostbite. 😅
Great vid, I like how you went into more detail about the return trip downhill and the water situation. Wanted to ask, how did you deal with any blisters or chafing? I'm assuming walking so much all of a sudden has to have taken a toll on your skin.
Awesome tips. This was very insightful. I understand some people train first on smaller mountains before climbing one like Kilimanjaro. Did you have to do som fitness regime or climb any smaller mountains first?
Are your preparations on for the india trip?? You must have your bucket list for the towns you will be visiting, small suggestions you can check out on Internet and also youtube where you will find many videos the hillstations of shimla and ooty are very beautifull and also mahableshwar and lonavla which are near to Mumbai in case you are in Mumbai you can visit for a day or 2 to mahableshwar and lonavla
You are lucky that your hot Kenadian wife believes in you. If I told my hot Polish wife that I wanted to climb a mountain, I'm pretty sure that I'd be doing it on my own! 🤣🤣
Summit day was the craziest day of our lives! 🏔️❤️ ua-cam.com/video/viVwYN_4Uuk/v-deo.html

6:47 The Rongai route on Kenyan side looks dangerous, but I hear its scenic too.
Not the best route from what I heard.
@@DaveMani I heard that too.

I personally didn't get any. Tracey got a blister on the last day but nothing major.
Awesome tips. This was very insightful. I understand some people train first on smaller mountains before climbing one like Kilimanjaro. Did you have to do som fitness regime or climb any smaller mountains first?

Have a safe journey and a fabulous stay in India, looking forward to the best vlogs series❤️
High-altitude med is probably not a great label for acetazolamide, it is a diuretic that happens to lower the blood pH.
Yeah, that is exactly what it does which allow blood cells to stock more oxygen.
Thanks for sharing Dave! Why did you take 3 Thermal shirts? (not one)
I like to put fresh clothes on every couple of days haha.
Very informative
When do we take the high altitude meds ?sole days before the climb or while at it?
We started the evening before and stopped on our last morning on the mountain.
13:32 I don't think I can hold it first of all, I'll have dreams going to the toilet and trying to pee😂😂
Hahaha fair enough!
There is no way you claimed all that I was in school although but its weekend and I saw Mt kenya imagine
Haha It took 7 days!
What brand speaker did you bring?
It was a small JBL.
