Thank you for this, I keep seeing plans with exercises, stretches, running/swimming, even weights.... so confusing and was concerning me.... I hike at least twice a week, at least 400/500m elevation, ascent and descent, carry a 20L day back with full kit, on average for 4 hours at a time.... I was starting to doubt myself.... needed someone to tell me to continue to keep it simple...
Yup, those complicated training programs are unnecessary. We have no idea why so many operators and individuals state that's what you need for Kilimanjaro. It's totally not true. Your current training plan is great.
The difficulty rating of 7/10 is from the perspective of a typical person doing physical things that are accessible to the general public (like running a marathon). However, in the realm of mountaineering, climbing Kilimanjaro is pretty basic. We would rate a supported Kilimanjaro climb a 1/10, an unsupported Kilimanjaro climb a 3/10, and a Denali expedition a 10/10.

I’ve watched many Kilimanjaro training videos and this is the best one by far! Thanks 🙏🏼
Glad it was helpful!

Excellent advice. I am not climbing Kilimanjaro but your advice is applicable to most hikes
Indeed it is! Thanks for watching!
So a scale of 1-10 with a 7 when there are mountains like Denali…they sure didn’t leave a lot of room on their scale lol
