    #4, Doesn't't lighter shoes lead to colder feet and less grip?

      Not necessarily. The outsole can still be robust on a trail shoe and waterproof shoes have a membrane that reduces airflow. I've never had cold feet on Kilimanjaro, even during subzero temperatures, and I wear trail shoes every time.

    So, if i have to train on a treadmill, i should aim to be walking at a good incline at about 2-3mph?

      Frankly, walking on a treadmill alone is probably not enough, even at an incline. It simply doesn't work you hard enough. A stair machine is much better.
