Just finished "Beyond Ooda", very good book, Some very important points , self control is the most important thing in life, posturing is a very bad idea, concealment includes not letting potential enemies know what you know. I agree with all of this .
“If you cannot put the value of human life on a sliding scale, you will not effectively make the decision to defend yourself in a lethal force event.” Varg Freeborn. I love the idea he mentions of using real cops - real gear - applying real active shooter scene entry techniques as part of one of his firearms training events - awesome! Not words that Varg used in this session, but I think such a training experience would hammer home the message - Don't be the one holding a firearm in your hands when police arrive on scene!! Thanks Tim and Varg for taking time to share insights with us - very worthwhile!
This is great, I am a family guy that just wants to make sure I keep my family and loved ones safe from violence. You guys are teaching about the reality of violence and you bring up things most of us never even think of. Keep up the great work, I plan to sign up for Tim's course in Vegas and bring my wife before year end.
Just finished Beyond OODA - couldn’t put it down. Violence of Mind arrived today and I’m 30 pages in. For someone like me who grew up in a protected environment, these books provide incredible (and much needed) insight. Very grateful this information is available. If you’re on the fence about buying and reading them, I’d urge you to do so.
I've been into jujitsu for 11 years and it's great, it keeps me very limber and strong. My grandfather was a green beret he taught me many things as a teenager because I was always getting beat up. His philosophy was anything and everything can and will be used as a weapon in his court of law ,it took me a few years to realize what he meant
Love your channel and agree with your philosophy 100%. I just bought his first book on audible because of your recommendation and can’t wait to listen to it.
LOVE WHAT VARG SAID AT MIN 25:50 YOU WANT TO TEACH PEOPL HOW TO BE SAFE AND LIVE BETTER LIFES NOT TEACH AGRESSIVE PEOPLE HOW TO BE MORE AGRESSIVE YOU GUYS ARE TRUE WARRIORS
Great series. One thing I noticed that could possibly help is the intro and conclusions sound great but the interview itself is a little harder to hear, I would have to turn my phone up all the way and still miss a little here and there. I know tech issues can't always be solved but if possible it would help get this important information across. Again great video with real, applicable content.
What I've really appreciated about these various interviews is the introspection generated by the discussions. Whether or not we focus too much on sport violence, is our perspective on violence morally correct, or what are my true motives as they relate to training? As it pertains to realistic self protection, this channel is great about reminding us of the causes and consequences of violence and how it's truly defined.
When I was a bouncer most people when attacked the freeze up, and my instructor taught based on that scenario so we were better prepared for confrontation
Used your link and bought Beyond OODA. incredible information and amazing thoughts on principles. I have been watching videos on criminal psychology and it is amazing how people want to be a hero and set up scenarios to justify violence when it isn’t necessary. This book really helps explain mind set. Half way through the book and stopped to watch this.
These interviews have been great. This one nailed close the idea of purpose in training. In an exaggerated way, the question is are you Bob the salesman and part-time killing machine or Bob the salesman who trains to protect his family and life against predators. One is warped, the other is balanced. Concerning the specificity of training, again in an exaggerated way, do you need to be a Vale Tudo champion, or would you be best served with the highest white rank in jujitsu? Perhaps more importantly, the thing Tim has driven home is, walk away. If you're in it for the long haul, walk away.
I really enjoy your content. I would like to make a suggestion: The master volume is a bit low, and it really becomes obvious when an ad jumps in. I would suggest that you increase your overall master volume by at least 6 dB. I’m having to max my volume up to really listen comfortable, but as soon as the advertisement interrupts the video, the volume is abrasively loud. That means that your levels are not normalized well. Your videos have become too quiet in volume. Thank you for your consideration.

Great information Tim and purchased both books, looking forward to reading them, Varg appears to be a very interesting and informed individual.
We live in a world where image has completely triumphed over substance
