  • Found on a VX tape. Even though he turned 83 in 1979, they put on this special since he was "going to be out of town for his 100th birthday." The first few breaks are cut out (meaning small snippets of the special itself are cut), but fortunately the OG recorder later came to his senses and let the rest of the recording go uninterrupted. The Andy Gibb performance has been online, as well as some other bits from here, but nevertheless wanted to make sure the entire special was available in high quality for free!

This special aired on CBS January 1979 was put in after CBS postponed the premieres of "Flatbush" and "Co-Ed Fever".

George Burns did really reach age 100 in January 1996, he died 2 months later.

How difficult was it to get stable video and audio out of this format in a transfer?

I've found it's not more difficult than the other tape-based video formats I have. My DVD recorder has terrific video stabilization, so that's why there's no horizontal jittering in the final picture. The occasional slight up-and-down jitter is something I get on other tape formats, depending on tracking; it seems inherent in my rig. I've been very lucky in that almost all tapes I got from the seller of my player are very clean, so I haven't had to stop to de-gunk the head like Oddity Archive described.
