I am extremely OCD about clean hands when handling my silverbelly Premier Stratoliner. The problem is I really like to wear it often. Thanks for this video, Kevin!
Nice looking hat after your hard work!! 👑👑 I've avoided silverbelly and light colored hats because of how quickly they show dirt and stains. Darker Brown hides a world of sins. 😊👍
anybody ever get nervous when they see you handle their hat? I'm sure everyone watching this channel knows that you know what you're doing, but you definitely don't baby the hats.
No, if I feel someone is going to be that way I don’t do that in front of them. I tell them to sit down in front. I hand a hat back to people looking brand new, I’d say I do baby a hat, I make sure a hat is flawless, and without a single spot on it.,if possible.the difference is…I’m experienced, I’m not afraid to dive in a brush it, or remove a stain, that’s over 30 years of doing this.. When I first started, I 1994, I brushed it gently and I was scared of the hats. I’ve learned that felt has different finishes, if a hat is brand new and has a delicate, fine finish, I won’t even use packing tape on it.. it depends what you’re working on. It co,es from brushing thousands upon thousands of hats every single day, all day long.. you get a good feel for how hard to brush, or even when not to brush or steam it. Sometimes I won’t even steam a hat because I know I’ll make it worse.. It all depends on what kind of felt and felt finish you’re working with.
So I love the videos and I have a StratOliner silver belly and was excited to see this… but gave up 2 min in seeing that it’s a video shot entirely with either a back or forearm covering what I’d need to see and no commentary… in what world is that helpful?!? This dude is an artist and I enjoy the videos very much, very sad this one was a dud. But hey, can’t all be homers I suppose.
Some of those older videos were rushed and unedited, I apologize. There’s probably a few other videos of me doing the same thing on UA-cam. These days I try to take the backs out 😂😂oops
There really was t much to say here, so I just went w the visuals, and didn’t narrate, I’m basically just sanding and brushing away the debris… I thought it was self explanatory enough to just show it,without any narrative..in hindsight, I probably should have added some narration.thx for the input
Good job, Kevin. Also liked the style of video with the background music and customer interaction. Reality Hatting at its best
🎩
I appreciate that!

True ! but I’ve found as long as you do this once a year or so, it’ll work out. Silver belly colors works best with the buffing method
Maestro!
Another example of your love of hats
Thanks so much! You always say such nice things!
Thank you Kevin!
Now I know what to do the next time I get stains on my hat. Bring it to someone that knows what they're doing. Lol. Have a good one Kevin.
What grit level do you recommend for a sanding sponge?
It’s a 3M brand flexible sanding sponge, the reddish pink ones, I think it’s called 120 grit fine www.3m.com/3M/en_US/p/d/v000229166/
