    The shop that I use to take my hats into did something that most never think of, and that vacuuming the hat before removing stains etc. They did that to remove deep dirt/dust. They always did an amazing job cleaning my hats.

    I followed you instructions and got myself one of those sponges. I kinda ran into it by accident. It’s a windshield bug sponge. Well, mine is. And it works rather well! For little stains, it brushes it away very nicely. No idea what kinda stain they were but it worked. Nothing else needed either. Just went over it a few times and gone.
    Thanks for the video.

    Just bought me a new 100x Rodeo King. I thought I would never buy a Rodeo King but this hat is amazing. The fit, feeling, and finish is awesome! It will be a lifetime hat and I’m sure I’ll enjoy it for years to come.

      That is awesome. I am more of an American hat company fan and that is all I wear now but for the money rodeo king does not make a bad hat.

    This is more what I was looking for. Putting hat cleaner, sponge, and brush on the list to check the fleet supplier in my area.

    If removing your hat is important on special occasions (or for etiquette reasons), best thing to do is to bring a plastic bag and put the hat inside it so that it can be protected from stains etc. Most people would think its stupid to bring a plastic bag just for that, but hey...I own a lot of expensive Stetson hats and I dont wanna have them dirty 😖

    • @cowboybootshatsandwesternl9663

      @@tangzwire I agree with you but from now on I’ll be keeping my hat on at a restaurant or hang it somewhere if that’s an option.

    So sorry this happened to your hat. This is one reason lots of folks keep their hat ON in restaurants.

    Always wanted a Silver Belly, but was afraid of it getting dirty or oil spilled on it! Great video. Now I need to know how to clean my straw hat!

      And don’t be too worried about getting a silverbelly you can always clean the stains and some of those little marks and stains on them is what gives them their character it will look great.

      @@cowboybootshatsandwesternl9663 I was raised with proper hat etiquette so I try and be respectful but now days, it's tough because people don't respect the hat much anymore. I've had people actually take my hat off of a rack in a restaurant just to look at it. Who does that??

    • @cowboybootshatsandwesternl9663
      @cowboybootshatsandwesternl9663  18 днів тому +1

      @@America-Is-Doomed that would really upset me.
      Unfortunately nowadays with less people wearing hats nowadays there isn’t much knowledge on hat etiquette, but it’s general etiquette not to touch someone’s property without their consent.
      I always took my hats off at the restaurant out of respect of seating at the table but with the way things are nowadays and the lack of respect for hats, it’s better to keep it on.

    Enjoyed watching your technique. I didn't clean a felt hat but I have a light colored one that was left to me by a dear uncle that has passed away. What do you think about what someone else said about not using a dark colored bristle brush on a light colored hat? I would think it would be okay if it were brand new and never used on a dark hat previously.
    I had an occasion were I wore a new pair of suede light colored boots to the grocery store. I picked up a bottle of olive oil off the shelf that someone had opened and the oil was all down the bottle, which made it slip out of my hand and fall to the floor, and in turn, all over my new boots. I was devastated.
    I researched how best to clean it and found that plain old cornstarch sprinkled on the oil on the boots did the trick. It took several days and about seven (7) applications to get all of the oil out. I put the cornstarch in a shaker in order to sprinkle it on the boots and let it sit overnight to absorb as much oil as possible. Then I brushed it out completely between each application. Eventually all of the oil was gone! It took a lot of patience but I loved those boots and they could not be replaced. I was actually surprised by how great this worked.
    Hope this helps because I'm sure this wound work on your hats and no harsh chemicals are involved! 👒🎩👢

      @cowboybootshatsandwesternl9663  Рік тому

      Hey thanks for the comment.
      Glad your boot’s ended up clean at the end but like you said that would not be something to do on a hat because of the harshness of the chemicals but i would definitely use these products intended for it so if need be now as far as far as the black bristle brush as apposed to the white bristle brush I never had any problem with black bristles on my light colored hat because the bristles are usually boar hair and are naturally black so they don’t usually give any issues but you can definitely get white bristle brush if your more comfortable with it.
      Thanks for the support.

    Perchloroethylene, it's that dry cleaners smell, dissolves oils, if it's bad an you dun want to take the hat apart an wet block it.

    Hello Sir, could you please tell me, is 7x Stetson Rancher hat from the 70´s good enough for evryday use? Never been worn and it looks like a brand new and feels soft but little Stiff :) -Greetings from Finland :)

    • @cowboybootshatsandwesternl9663
      @cowboybootshatsandwesternl9663  Рік тому +1

      Hello and welcome.
      Yes a 7x Stetson from the 70’s has a lot more beaver the a 7x Stetson from today making it a much higher quality that could withstand some weather better then the 7x or equal to some of the 20x or 40x of today so definitely a perfect every day hat as it’s nothing too fancy but a great quality hat that you don’t mind putting wear on.
      Thank you so much for your support.

      Yes your right in this case I picked this one up brand new and that’s all they had at the store so I just grabbed it and if it was a nicer American silver belly that I will eventually get I would definitely only use a white brush but this is a hat I don’t mind being ruffed on

    No way those whitened spots were “blown off” by any compressor. They were bleached out from spot cleaning. Just sayin….. thanks for the video

    • @cowboybootshatsandwesternl9663
      @cowboybootshatsandwesternl9663  Рік тому +4

      Well, the product that I use does not contain bleach. It just forms a powder that absorbs the oil and grime and I work in a bike shop, so we have a very powerful compressor which was strong enough to blow out the powder very easily.
