I have to admit… I’m a long time gopro fan like yourself, …. But more and more , there are compelling reasons to get an iPhone for photography. Of course, this is a very dividing moment, as we are comparing something which is built to withstand knocks, vs another which is essentially a sports car. …. I am more an more compelled by the iPhones ability at night mode, however. It all depends what you want to shoot doesn’t it, , . . Depending how much u want to risk, etc..
The other thing which I just really feel must be commented on, is the GoPros continual problems with overheating.. let’s be honest… as lovely as the gopro is, a camera made to withstand challenging conditions really shouldn’t be giving up when it gets hot. Year after year they let this slide.. to be honest, it doesn’t matter whether I spend 400 or 1400 dollars in my opinion, to lose your recording at any point is very stressful.
There's something nobody talks about the gopro which i don't see with any other cameras ; The details in the sky (2:55) and on the texture of the road (3:12) You can watch any video comparison with other cameras and gopros are the only cameras to reproduce those details.
It is amazing what the iPhone (smartphones in general) can do with the camera system, considering that, unlike the GoPro, the phone is a multi-purpose device and not just a camera.
Thanks for the review, I noticed that the Iphone overexposure in some scenes, I usually underestimate it a little, so more details are manifested and better dynamic range, especially in HDR video. The picture on GoPro in standard mode looks cartoonish a little, not very realistic, it is rather suitable for fast movements in action scenes, when contrast is needed, and because of the speed of action movements, you do not pay attention to details, and the gaze falls on contrasting objects around, with a static image, such a picture is not the best, it can be beautiful, but unrealistic
I wish the HDR mode on the Gopro would be "real HDR" with Rec.2020/Rec.2100 color space and HLG output, in this case most Apple devices can play the footage out of the camera in real HDR but sadly its just Rec.709 color space thats the reason why the HDR mode on the Gopro looks "cartoonish". I've tested Gopro Labs with the "WIDE=1" setting, it allows the gopro to capture in a wider color space, wider than Rec.709 but still not Rec.2020 but if i put those Gopro Labs files with "WIDE=1" in Davinci Resolve i can render it out as a HLG HDR file and it looks really really good it comes really close to "real HDR".
I was upset when I found out that the new gopro 12 does not support HDR in rec2020. I ended up buying an Iphone 15 pro mainly because of shooting HDR video, I enjoy such a video when I watch TV, unfortunately this is the only option from compact devices. On the other hand, I discovered shooting at 3x zoom, also in 4x60 HDR, it gives more opportunities in contrast to GOpro. I left my GOpro only for action scenes, and there are not so many of them, since I use the camera for travel mostly
amazing video indeed... it provide me enough insights about go pro... i believe i will wait for iphone 16 pro to get my new all purpose pictures device
And the iphone 15 pro max can also make calls, surf the Internet, play music, play games and much more. The iPhone is a universal device for most people, the gopro is a niche device for specific events.
Gopro má více detailů u těch vzdálenějších objektů a lepší stabilizaci. Ale jinak klobouk dolů před iphonem, nečekal jsem nikdy, že ty videa z mobilu se budou hodně přibližovat kamerám.
In my opinion it's not about "fair" compare, it's about usage scenario. Use iPhone to POV shot XC race - emm, strange idea. Opposite case - use GoPro as photo device to get some cool photo. It`s possible, but why? As for me GoPro 12 have enough quality to make technically good footage. So, I trust it and try get something interesting, at least for me or my mom :)
Next time try to drop them both while recording, look for damages; Then there is only one winner 🏆 and you all can guess it who compare better the camera 1 or the camera 2!??😅

Gopro dynamic range is better in the sky. In my opinion, Gopro is better

It was an interesting and fair comparison!👍

Yes, absolutely - they simply have significantly more processing power.

Could you do a comparison of a sunset to sunrise Timelapse using the iPhone 15 Pro and the GoPro Hero 12 please?
amazing video indeed... it provide me enough insights about go pro... i believe i will wait for iphone 16 pro to get my new all purpose pictures device
Does GoPro 12 take good photos? I have Google Pixel 6 PRO, will there be a big difference?

thank you for discription=)
Thanks for shearing 👌
Does the GoPro night video get better on a gimbal if stabilization is turned off?
No - not necessarily - but the gimbal will help if you lower the shutter speed
Iphone HDR is not good because lot of people complained about photos and videos not transferring from iphone to Windows PC.
Thanks 👍
Good video 👍
Good job ❤❤❤
In real life you'll never get picture from GoPro like this without editing but iPhone does.
Спасибо. Было интересно смотреть.
Мне нравится и тот и другой прибор, теперь еще сложнее выбрать 😂
Согласен.
Amazing views!! Where is it?
South Tyrol (Italy)
Battery?

Can you please tell me what type of camera by which you made this video?
Sony A74 - link in the description
It depends on who endorses you
Good job
