- In this weeks midweek episode we test Starling for off-grid camping. Yes, we have had it for a few months now and we have tried and tested it.
We get a lot of questions in regards to internet as we do work full time on the road and its been over 2 and a half years now on the road for something like this to give us the freedom we were looking for.Or isn't it ?
If you enjoyed this episode and want any more info, please drop a comment and we will be very happy to try and answer them.

So happy to see you now have so much more freedom of movement, awesome.
You guy’s always deliver the goods , you keep it simple and non biased plus you are always upfront if and when you are collaborating with who ever. Personally I am getting very tired with certain UA-camrs that get a ton of gear for free and they promote all their products ( which they have been given) and are increasingly getting worse, as far as being biased . Not like you guys- you keep it real. THANK YOU 🙏
Thank you Phoenix 🙌🏻 appreciate the support and kind words 🙌🏻
@@justvanningit you are always welcome my friends, stay safe and travel well .
Thanks Phoenix, always appreciate your comments and support. Have an awesome week and catch ya on Sunday!
Aw Derick you're a tech genius. ;-)
Thanks for the review - we’re just about to push the go button on Starlink and you’ve nudged us over the line. Loving these midweek episodes. Also good to see that you’re getting close to 10k subscribers. Great to hear your going to make into WA.
Thanks charlotte 🙌🏻 if you need internet, it will be a huge help having starlink 🙌🏻
The review I've been waiting for. Thanks guys
Too easy Ashley . Hope it helped 🙌🏻
Thanks Ashley! Hope it delivers what you are lookingnfor. Please feel free to reach out wiyh any questions!
@@suelandolt6840 now I need to find that job so I could hit the road full time 😊
Cracking Ep guys
Thank you Craig 🙌🏻
Thanks Craig appreciate the support!
Great review mate, ordered week ago, just subscribed.
Starlink is good for the people that can utilise it enough to offset the cost of it i.e for work, schooling or full time content creation.
Starlink is good for people that are tech illiterate as it's an easy setup process and the price and ongoing price reflects that.
That out there internet kit is more involved with the setup process as it has a directional antenna (not an "any direction"/put up and point anywhere or at some random town) which means it has a 10°-20° narrow area to be pointed directly at a telstra tower to pick up reception. If you can't set it up properly please don't use it in a comparison video.
Thanks mate , think we are going down the star link way too
Well said 👏 👌 👍
Brilliant guys, will now buy this stuff
Thank you 🙌🏻
Great to hear Stephen, strongly recommend it 👍
Great review, mine will be delivered next Monday. Thanks for the heads-up about Outcamp too, I have just now ordered the Starlink bag and a generator bag.
Thanks mate 🙌🏻
Awesome review, thank you.
Thank you 👍🏻
Great video guys. Very helpful. We’re heading off for an 8 month trip of the eastern seaboard and I’m going to be working remotely, so this review has been most helpful 👌🏼
Thank you 😁
Deryck,Sue,Bob,that was delivered with great excitment. Thanks your quite the salesman.👌🏾👍🏾
Thanks Doug. Who knows what the future holds for me 😂😂
Thanks Doug 🤣
Thanx guys, its amazing how you compared and show us how the products work.
Such a pity you missed out on the reduced price and we will get one for sure.
Nice to see you guys and mr Bob in the week, cant wait for Sunday morning.
Thanx for your hard work
Cheers

Thank you guys 🙌🏻
Thanks for the heads up on the travel bag, have ordered mine 👏
Too easy guys 🙌🏻 it really is handy
Awesome 👌
Thanks, another great upfront, honest and unbiased informative video, thanks and that is why you guys are the best on You Tube as you are the real deal. Bob didn't look to enthused re Starlink at the end though 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Looking forward to sundays episode and hopefully you have had a great week and no disasters like the previous two weeks 👍
Thank you. Appreciate feed back like this. Hope we can deliver great content moving forward. Yea Bob just plots along 😂 enjoy the rest of the week 🤙🏻
Sticking to flat bitumen road this week! Ahahah
Our caravan guy put a boat bung through our van now we have the router in side in a cupboard which has 240 the cord can be run thru the caravan to the outside then connects to the satellite dish. Works great
Thanks Debbie. That is a great idea
Looks like this starlink is taking on well
You guys are the 6th UA-camr from Australia that showed this product 👏 and its the next thing to slice bread .
Awesome product 👌
Greetings from south africa 🇿🇦 😀
It is. Especially if you want to get off grid and be able to explore not worrying about internet 🙌🏻
Thanks for your ongoing support 😁
great video definitely made my decision easier not going to try piss around with the other options
We have completed 2 x 5 month half laps around eastern Australia over the past 16 months. Around 45000kms in total. Chasing mobile service for internet has been a limiting factor for us. I have just purchased Starlink to use during our next trip, 12 months in WA. The ability to access internet in otherwise unserviced locations will be fantastic. We will explore places previuosly not available to us. I have tested Starlink at home. It is generally 3 - 4 times faster than my current nbn service. I share your excitement.
We agree. Internet can be very difficult to access and we can’t fault starlink. We travelled from Airlie where we had it delivered and we have not gone without internet now we have starlink. The speeds are fantastic as well. To be honest we didn’t do it for the speed but just to be able to have internet for us to work. Speeds are a bonus
That is awesome 👌 wow alot to look forward to. Perhaps we will cross paths in WA next year good luck with your prep for your travels!
Going to order the bag didn’t know it was available, it wasn’t on their website when I last looked which was when I ordered the dish.
Great stuff. I watched a few reviews already but your comments regarding saving money by not needing to be close to towns and therefore skip the caravan parks really makes sense! I am still unsure if I buy it now while it is on sale or wait until there is a 12V version out. Does anyone has a crystal ball and can predict the future please? 😀 Decisions decisions! Thanks for another very helpful video!
Thanks guys, apologies we missed your message. Thanks for the feedback and support. Hope you have a great Christmas 🎄
Nice
Thanks 👍
Hey guys great episode, we've had Starlink for about 10 months now and it's awesome, hopefully a tip for you travelling always try to set up the dish facing towards the Eastern sky's, stay safe out there and keep up the great work 👍
Great video Deryk, lots of good information, thanks for sharing. We can’t find much info on the website about plans, ie download limits. Is yours unlimited? Kind regards, Corrie
This is a no-brainer for you guys. You live and travel in a van full time, Sue works full time on the road, and this thing will set you free.I hope one day you surprise us with a live feed from some of Australia's remote places.
Thanksbso much! That's a great idea, will live feed when we are back out in the out back!
What size inverter are you running? Thanks for the review!
Thanks for this video I have recently put in the residential service and its amazing compared to anything else I have had. We live in the Hawkesbury and internet or phone reception in general has been an ongoing nightmare. Question for you, your traveling fulltime so I get purchase the RV version but if your only traveling say 3 months or so per year can you pause your subscription?
Too easy 🙌🏻
I do believe you can pause the subscription on a calendar month.
Awesome review on Starlink! My wife has just accepted a position as a Vet Nurse on call and we have been looking at options for reliable internet? Currently using Nighthawk which needs phone reception! You reassured us that this is not always possible 🤦🏻
We have been told that you need reception to set Starlink up each time you move? Watching your review, this obviously is not true?
Kind regards
Jeff and Jenny
Hey guys . No you don’t need phone reception to setup starlink. We use it where phone reception is nonexistent.
Just watch for trees etc. you open the app and then scan the sky and it will tell you where and if there is obstruction in the way.
Then when you plug in starlink it will automatically move to its position and you will have internet. Just remember it’s data and not phone reception but there are many apps you can phone off of
@@justvanningit that’s awesome information, thank you for taking the time to get back to us!
One more question? Do you need to update your location as you travel?
Cheers 🍻
Jeff
@@jeffgibson7528 not with the rv starlink. You do with the residual one
@@justvanningit legends, your amazing 🤩
I have just seen that Keelan and Sarah have got Starlink👍
Take care
@@jeffgibson7528 no worries . Yea they have 🙌🏻
Worth the money if you travel. Would be awesome if it was 120 Mega "bytes" per second, alas it is Mega "bits". Still super fast for downloads
100% worth it, have already seen the benefits of it in just a few weeks!
We’re also really interested in starlink. Do you feed a cord through the window? Would it be worth installing a caravan wall plate for whatever connection it has?
We do feed it through the window and still able to close the window. There is I’m sure ways to have it go through the van. We haven’t ventured down that road yet as it works fine the way we have it. Over Christmas we will look at some ideas 🙌🏻
Do you think you can use your existing Multi Directional booster Mast and stick ya Starlink on the end of it ? Keep it high and away from thieving Hands , I’m thinking quite a few Starlink dishes will go walking if not tethered in some fashion. Thanks for posting an honest review
But without the modem which also powers the dish it is pointless for anyone to steal it.
@@bobr6555 tell that to the shifty fingers , I guess they’ll get a rude shock selling it for quick bucks lol
Thanks Paul. It’s not a bad idea but if you need the dish to be in a better location than where your van is parked then it’s better to be able to move the dish around.
Theft is something to think of.
Do you know if you can permanently mount it on the roof and leave it there without having issues due to dirt and weather?
Hi Tony, not sure to be honest. It is fully waterproof and automatically finds the satellite.
@@suelandolt6840 hi.. thanks for getting back to me.... I've seen people deleting the stand and mounting them on their roof permanently on other YT channels..so yeah that answered my question 😅
Is it waterproof can u leave starlink out in the rain , great show guys 👍
Thanks David. Good question. Yes it is waterproof and we leave it outside. We currently in NSW and has been raining pretty heavily and we have left it outside
Thanks David, have a great week 😀
Are you running Telstra Wifi Calling so essentially you have phone reception via Starlink?
And that’s why Australians think like convict’s could’ve would have should have and some one comes in and destroys the useless opposition 😂
😂
Starlink now half price until xmas
Such a great deal 👌
Yip, did mention that in the video 🙌🏻
Hey guys, do you know whether you can purchase the hardware (while it's on sale) & not have to link it up or start paying for internet use until later (when we're ready to use it?
I’m not 100% sure. When we ordered it and it arrived it took $174 for our first month. Just remember that you can pause it until you do need to use it. I’m not sure if and when you do it
