- Panasonic confirms that it will stop making TVs in-house at the end of fiscal year 2021, but in a statement in response to our questions, Panasonic said that the company will still continue its OLED TV business in 2022, with the manufacturing of the televisions outsourced to an external company.

panasonic need to work on the marketing of their tvs. they provide the best picture quality and dont sell that many tvs? same thing happend with their plasmas.
@Patrick Swayze Panasonic better than LG nearly on par with Sony.
@@RobertK1993 totally agree with you!
They are doing the same thing to Technics ... great products with very few retail channels.
You just keep working on your capital letters at the start of sentences and especially names and everything else will be fine.
I own two Plasmas and one Oled tv from Panasonic (the VT60 is still my favorite). I love the picture quality, but I have to admit the Remote is pretty dated as well as the menus of the display. We had to wait ages to have Disney + incorporated too.
If I did not know anyrhing about televisions I would easily get a cheaper dispaly from LG and I think it is exactly what people do, chosing between Sony or LG.
Sad they don't sell them in the US anymore. Panasonic TVs were the ones I would buy back in the day.
Sony Trintron was also popular back then.
I would have bought one if they sold in the U.S. Hell if this outside player sells them in the U.S. next year I might by it if it's as good as this years model.
I am a big fan and owner of Pana TVs since Plasma. I hope that Future will tell that I am wrong, but I am afraid, this is the first step for Panasonic into either the death of Panasonic TVs or just badge engineering.
My last hope is, that they will badge engineer just the basic models, just to make profit and continue to put a lot of effort into their Top models. I am one of the small group of customers that doesn’t look to the cheapest price and is willing to pay more money for superior quality.
Totally agree with you and hope we are both right Pana will keep making the top-tier models in-house.
We had Panasonic Plasmas for many years and have had a GZ 2000 for around 2 years. Still the best for picture quality and the overall viewing experience. Combined with a Panasonic UB820 4K Blu ray player, I think we have the best of all worlds!
Still mourning the loss of Pioneer.
For real right. Was far a bigger shock and far more upsetting than when Panasonic pulled out of the plasma display biz. That and the unquestionable fact that they were the better build and better display and image quality overall.
What was sad about Panasonic pulling out of the plasma R&D and manufacturing was it signaled the end of the technology as a whole - which was incredibly sad when you think of how shit the early generations of OLED were regardless of what the delusional naysayers would try to tell you. Even today OLED sample and hold is inferior in many a way.
I'm looking forward to seeing Samsung and their upcoming True RGB OLED panels though.
@@stugtodd2778 Yeah, Panasonic basically spent the next 4 years trying to get their plasma where Pioneer was before the exited and then gone. I still remember the first time seeing a Kuro at this girl's house and her father was a Doctor and they had a Kuro in the living room and I immediately was like "what is that thing?"

Would of loved to have seen a pioneer oled... still rocking a 9g kuro in our family room and have a Panasonic HZ2000 in a 65 in my den.. only use it for blurays.. whereas the kuro is our everyday tv great all-rounder and prob best outlay in my life 13yrs old....the hz2000 is a phenomenal display but as delicate as hell whereas the kuro is built like a tank... tbh if Panasonic didn't do oled I'm not sure if I would have got into the tech... it has a very plasma cinematic picture to it... and still love my tweaked kuro but the Panasonic is in a different league for movie watching..

Another great brand following the same sad route as Pioneer Kuro
Oh no, we are stuck with low grade garbage LG.
@@pioneer2321 LG G1 OLED loses to Sony Bravia A90J Master Series OLED TV and Panasonic OLED JZ 2000
But Pioneer really got ridiculous with its prices. In 2008, I auditioned a 50 inch 1080p Pioneer Elite Kuro at the home theater specialty store where I'd bought my first HDTV, in 2007. That 50" Pioneer was selling for $4,500. But barely 9 months later, the same store introduced a 50" 1080p Panasonic plasma, that seemed to offer nearly 95% of the picture quality that the Pioneer did, yet the Panny's price was just $1,500! Yup, that Panasonic cost only a THIRD of the asking price for Pioneer's same sized, same resolution, plasma!! And since, by that time, Panasonic had already gained a reputation for making quite reliable, very good looking plasmas, it certainly came as no shock to me, when shortly after Panasonic had started offering such a reasonably priced 1080p plasma, Pioneer suddenly announced it was ending the production and marketing of its very overpriced line of plasma TVs. Yes, I must admit the Pioneer Kuro was the best performing plasma (& best TV, PERIOD) that a video enthusiast could get, especially with its black level, that no other display of that time could match. But since most scenes in movies & TV shows weren't likely to reveal the Kuro's superiority over the Panasonic plasmas, only a relatively tiny group of the most demanding video & home theater enthusiasts, were ever going to think that Kuros were worth their high asking prices, once people got to see the very nice looking PQ that a Panasonic could offer at a fraction of the Kuro's price.
@@mrb0775 the prices were high because they were 10 years ahead everyone.
@@mrb0775 still got Pioneer KRP-500A as the second tv at home and being also an owner of 55” Panasonic JZ2000 I can confirm that after 11 years this Pioneer Kuro is still killing 90% of current tv’s on the market including some Oled’s with the colour quality/accuracy and black level. This was the reference tv at that time.
I watch this on my JZ 2000 55" and love it. The settings are ingenious and I'm so happy to not own a Google TV. You can fell it's made for you! Also the way you can customise it to your needs is superb. Please stay in the business Panasonic ❤️

The prices were very high on the new jz series as new but would of had to go for a jz1500 as dont need the 2000 speakers.... only went for the hz2000 as the 1000s that were left increased in price to nearly 2k and I picked mine up for 2499 either 5yr warranty so a no brainer..
Bet you loving that jz2000
Hope Panasonic will stay in the tv business for a long time, and that this news does not augur the end of their tv’s segment.
Pretty sure it does. They'll only produce OLEDs now. It's just a matter of time before they'll stop with that as well.

Hope not... it was Panasonic getting into oled that made me buy one.. which replaced one of my pioneer kuros.. got my hz2000 in a 65 for amazing price but that's where they max out.. if they make bigger sizes that would be great as looking to move in couple yrs and a 77 or 83 by them would be awesome.. but as a monitor too no speakers at all.. that would be even better ...like them and pioneer used to do with their high end or pro plasmas
PANASONIC STAY IN THE GAME ❤️
My Panasonic plasma was the best TV I ever had, considering the value, pq and longevity. I'm glad I waited until I could afford an OLED (CX) to upgrade. Skipped the led generation completely. I would gladly have been a Panasonic customer for life if they hadn't stopped selling in the US.
I still have a Panasonic TX-P50VT65B Plasma which is now 9 years old, I still use it as my main TV and the picture still rocks. Even people who have modern OLED’s comment on how good the picture is when watching Blu-ray content. The Panasonic plasma I had before that is now over 13 years old and still works perfectly, my son has that set.
After 9 years I’m considering moving to a new OLED possibly the new LZ2000 model when it’s released, I’ll probably relegate the plasma to another room, don’t think I can let it go.

This is a shame. I’m still rocking a 2005 Quintrix CRT and a 2008 Viera Plasma TV, both made in the Czech Rupublic, both bought from new. I was waiting for one to break before I bought an OLED, but they’re so reliable that I still have them!
They make no fuss practically designed products.
Older products had superior build quality .
I bought a Panasonic 4K Blu ray player based on a video this channel posted about two years ago. I would like to buy a Panasonic TV but there's none available locally.
Really hope Panasonic are not going to outsource to TCL. I'm a huge fan of Panasonic and they are my go to for TV's... however I care more about security and allowing a state run/controlled company to produce a product that connects to home networks and gather data about you.... would be a massive mistake on Panasonic's part :/

So far, for me, between LG, Sony and Panasonic OLED TVs (calibrated), the latter were the only ones to compete with JVC D-ILA / Sony SXRD projectors in near black resolution and natural image, with projectors still holding the upper hand in many regards, but TVs got to the point they are good enough. Panasonic user interface is sadly the worst, but indeed there are a lot of settings and quite good calibration is possible. But anyway people tend to use Apple/Google/Roku/Fire TV, so UX is less of a problem. I hope Panasonic (and the others as well, FWIW) will continue to be in business.
Yes Panasonic makes great TVs however the UI and native apps on Panasonic TVs have never been their strong suit.
@@Astro49flyer Apps suck, UI menu wise is actually perfection. Easy to navigate, far more panel control for calibration and general customization as Vincent eluded to than anything else out there. The Sony equivalents by comparison are watered and dumbed down for mainstream consumers and offer far less panel setting customization. And yes I have owned both and still do in my home.
A projector having perfect blacks and natural image? Projectors holding the upper hand in many regards? Aside from screen size, it has always been to my understanding that projectors are inferior all across the board.
@@walmartpimp2 who said perfect blacks? But yes, more natural image, more colors, better color gradation, better motion, more 3D image, better near black resolution, image size, and no glass between me and the image. Less brightness, less contrast, more elevated blacks, lamp life, decalibration. Look at both, when properly set up. So far, for me, only Panasonic OLED was good enough to not fire up the projector for everything. YMMV.
@@zorqis You are right, you didn't say perfect blacks, so sorry for putting words in your mouth (so to speak). That being said, I never heard of anyone claiming a projector is superior to OLED. Aside from the emersion argument, and cost and screen size, every video, every article, every thing I ever heard about projectors is that they are subpar next to OLED. They have greyed out blacks, inferior colors, inferior contrast ratio, inferior peak brightens. Do you have any sources you can site that support your claims. It seems to me that you just want to feel like you have the best, but that simply isn't the case.
I have always seen them as a high end products especially in the 2000s to 2010 but when I came to looking for gaming TV's LG just delivered with the recent HDMI 2.1 OLEDS but back when it was HD over 4K with their sharpness they just blew everything else away. 2006 was a great year for them.
Any chance of you doing a sky glass setup? seems very dim in a dark room but can’t find a good balance for brightness
Love Panasonic always did. I even managed to get a Panasonic OLED TV from Canada here in the US but now even Canada doesn’t have them. Glad to hear the news that they’re still around and who knows maybe one day they may venture into the US again, that would be nice.

it's certainly possible. After all SHARP TVs are returning to the US next year Spring.

Have a Panasonic ST 60 which I am happy with never any fault !! Does anyone know anything about how the technical quality will be when Panasonic outsources production? Is there experience from other manufacturers?
Please come back to the USA 🇺🇸 I would buy a Panasonic over any tv brand available in the US. The thought the US having the best looking tv out of the box would be awesome. I spent $2349 for an LGC9 and $1498 for a Nakimachi 9.2.4 sound bar which is an amazing setup. Unfortunately now I’ve spent my lot and have no money for calibration. Would have been nice to get a Panasonic tv so that I would not have to worry about paying more after spending almost $4000 for my setup.
I was SO planning to get the JZ2000, since I waited a year because HZ2000 didn’t have hdmi 2.1. But after watching your reviews and learning that it’s peak brightness is the same as last year and its also using the older OLED panel & A90J is ahead of it, I decided to wait and see. Was a let down to be honest.
If you are a true video/cinema enthusiast, especially HDR content. Get yourself that JZ2000 and forget all that other noise. Panny OLEDs especially these reference pro flagships are the best 65 inch money can buy.
It would be rather a VERY GOOD argument to get that Panasonic.. Because next year they are no real Panasonic TVs anymore.. But Philips Oleds with a Panasonic label.. It is almost impossible that quality will be the same..
@@WiLDCATZ I am sure they are great and better than what I am using. But given their price, short comings, competition, and the fact that we are by the end of 2021, it is not as convincing as I thought it would be.
@@TheRealJohnHooper I am a serious Panasonic fan, and in my experience I preferred their TVs and quality of their images among all my other ones even though there are good too (Samsung and Sony). But I have to admit, Panasonic’s strategic operation is not as focused as Sony and all I want is a flagship for five years or so, which I don’t regret buying. I think A90J nailed it in 2021, but will probably upgrade in 2022 to see which flagship OLED wins me over.
Having said that, I will also try to see in person the JZ2000 if it’s on display somewhere nearby based on your recommendation and Emil Serafino. If its fulfilling, I could get it on the December discounts. Thanks you!

I really like Panasonic's Standard TVs. They make pretty good TV sets sometimes, and always make the best Oled TVs.
I ordered the 75 inch JX940 for a good price this week
I have just bought a Panasonic OLED in the sale. Excellent price, excellent TV. I have always liked the Panasonic band.
I was excited to finally see a Panasonic OLED in person since I am visiting Europe from Canada, but I couldn't even find one in the electronics store show room here in the Netherlands...would like to see one before these in house models disappear.

And does anyone know if Vincent has mentioned getting the hisense 75u9dg for calibration and a review? Would like to know how bright it gets in its brightest mode compared to the oleds. It can apparently hit about 1200 nits in a 2% window and 435 nits full screen sustained. So that should be a lot brighter than oleds can go. And with the local dimming having effectively 2 million dimming zones it should be a contender at least for one of the best maybe.....depending on how good the processing is and other factors of course. It sounds promising anyway, but knowing hisense......who knows?.......maybe those advantages/measurements won't count for much in real content like the value electronics shootout shows. Just want to double check their results, as they said the screen wasn't very bright at all in real scenes compared to the best oleds....huh?....maybe they didn't have the brightest film maker mode on?......thanks.

All these companies stopping in house productions is so sad. This makes the market a lot more boring to me.
My main concern Vincent with Panasonic outsourcing it's OLED TV Production is will the quality still be at the same standards as they have now?
Sad news indeed.
Still hoping Panasonic brings a competitive lcd tv to rival Sony's x90j to the market. The hx800 was good but here in Malaysia the ips panel (if I'm not mistaken, European had va panels) and edge lit for me took it out of contention. From what I've heard, the factory here uses LG Display ips panels as part of the deal when they bought the oled panels.
I kinda wanna see Panasonic get into the Mini-LED and more mainstream market. They're like the epitome of high end small scale enthusiast products, but they need to make products that make more money while still retaining their high end heritage.

I do suppose it makes sense. LG & Samsung have been very aggessive with their marketing. Sony a bit less so. Then below that some other brands. As for Panasonic... not much marketing to be found. At least, not where I live. So even though they make good TV's... they weren't really trying hard to sell them.
I love Panasonic in general a heavyweight in the market especially TVs. I recently bought a jx810e it seems great. I still believe in Panasonic heading to handheld video game console so many quality products. Any thoughts regarding my TV model? P stay in the market!

Well, let me just say it is one of the best Tvs I have ever owned and it is still going strong 12 yrs later with a fantastic picture. Everyone that comes to my home compliments me on my Tv, and they're shocked over the picture quality for being a plasma and its age. I was just looking to get another and I was disappointed to see they don't make them anymore. I appreciate your video. Now I have a idea what Tv to look for, and hopefully I can find another Panasonic.
Panasonic and Pioneer made the best plasma’s. I still use a Pioneer Kuros.
Australia misses Panasonic OLED TV’s 😔
I swear if I get one more "It's ok not to know" Google advert, I'm gonna go mental.
The. Get an ad blocker or use brave on a iOS or Android device to auto block them. I do
Eu fico bem cético na questão do Burn-in e no consumo de energia das OLED's. LCD-LED pra mim é ainda favorável por questões de eficiência energética e “livre” do Burn-in
I wonder if the color accuracy will suffer because of the outsourcing. That would be shame
Is it chance for android in Panasonic's OLED in 2022?
It’s a moot point for me as we lost Panasonic TV’s here in Canada in 2019 but my last Panasonic tv purchase was the DX900 and it’s still one of the best tv’s that I’ve ever owned and would have been a total shame if they stopped production on tv’s altogether thankfully that’s not the case.
I also own a dx900 and it’s an amazing tv, has been calibrated and it regularly blows me away how good it is. I also own a gz1000 and as good as it is I still think the dx900 has a better image especially in HDR, I love them both and hopefully they last a very long time. It would have been great if Panasonic made a follow up to the dx900, obviously they didn’t sell enough of them to justify making a successor, cheap morons buying crappy lg, tcl, hisense TVs have ruined it for those of us who prefer a quality viewing experience. At least we still have Sony to fall back on.
VINCENT Can you talk about white LEDs degrading to blue causing the screen to turn blue? I seen a 65 inch Samsung after a few years has gone blue.
I always go for Panasonic tvs I have done for 20 years, it’s a shame they aren’t as prominent in stores anymore.
Why is TCL assumed? Wouldn't TPV be more likely?
I'm still rocking the very last oled they produced. It's not 4k, but it STILL has one of the best pictures I still see. The cinematic quality is second to none.
do you mean plasma, don't you ?
This is only applicable for European markets right? (EEMA, ECE, etc.)
This won't have an effect for factories in Mexico and Malaysia, correct?
I really hope you get the Philips for the shootout. There really doesn't seem to be much info about them out there and i always liked ambilight.
Ambilight is a gimmick. Get a real bias light.
@@BlownMacTruck what does lord Vincent think about ambilight? I'd more or less settled on the 936+ as my next TV.
@@timeandspace_3.142 I mean ultimately if you like it, fine. But you can get actual bias light performance with any other display at a fraction of the cost, and real bias lights have tangible benefits.
Basically an ambilight is a moot point when buying a display since you can put a bias light on any TV (and those are more accurate). Ambilight is more like a colored LED light strip - fun for five minutes, but isn’t really useful in the long run.
@@BlownMacTruck thanks mate, it was more for the b&w sound bar and thought the ambilight was a plus. Vincent's review of the 935+ seemed positive apart from the hdmi 2;1 which they've fixed
@@timeandspace_3.142 and you don't get 50hz judder on philips... I'm looking at 935+ when the price gets slashed more. Less than 2k euro for 65 inch with decent sound out of the box...
I wonder what you'd think about their recent LED Model JXW944
Overpriced.... by a lot 🙄
@@desinho9 best LED you can get in 2021 for sure and supports all the formats
Jx810e?
thx Vinni
With all and defects, it is my Panasonic TV that gave me the best results for almost a decade. I appreciate LG quite a bit for introducing me to IPS technology, which is not perfect, but after seeing both panel technologies being born, it is a relief to see that the transition to OLED is taking place. Of course, we have 3 technologies in development that intend to surpass the ones we have and knowing the market will be something that will come by 2030.
I like this: "Not all shadow detail are meant to be seen."
I liked this :
Sony brighter shadows make it cleaner less artifacts , and sometimes you see all the details that you shouldn't 🙂
@@fullhd5277 By forcing the brightness of the shadows it also loses its naturalness and this makes the image look flat, with almost no depth. I clarify that I know many people who like this "technique".
@@VidRaza I agree with you that Panasonic is best ; but for someone like me going for the first time to oled , sony is best alternative .
@@fullhd5277 Thanks
I had 32 inch Panasonic led tv. I sold it so i can get smart Panasonic tv but i couldn't find one in Tanzanian Kilimanjaro region moshi town stores
Yes, they need to get better at marketing themselves as a premium brand. Sadly, they don't sell their TVs in Australia anymore.😢
Phew ... what a relief. I hope I can save up to a JZ2000, but I fear I'll have to wait another year to justify the investment.
Heard the rumour a while ago, now confirmed.
Setting for jz1500 gaming please
