Thanks for the video.
The Powerboost is a bit trickier to get the big pipes in since it has the extra coolant reservoir to the right of the main one. It made the install go a bit longer than planned but everything went in alright. The Ecoboost looks so much easier to fit it to.
nice video thank you
Nice cai... I am pretty sure your sensor on the intake tube is the intake air temp sensor....I am pretty sure these run on a speed density setup and don't have a maf. good info and video sir.
Your right Hogan!
Torn between this one, and S&B. I’ve ran S&B before, and was impressed with them. Never ran the Roush
im not sure you going to see a big difference between the 2. They are pretty similar
@@BeyondTheRaptor I ended up ordering the AFE Momentum GT. I liked the design of it, fingers crossed.
You did a great job on this video. You did a great job installing and I would definitely consider purchasing one of these.
I couldn’t have said it better myself. 5 ⭐️
What size is the coupler on the driver side turbo my kit didn’t come with one?
My concern with this CAI is that there is a big gap between the filter housing and the main tubing going to the turbos. This gap is on the engine side and would allow HOT air from the nearby engine to get into the system. There should be a seal of some sort to prevent this.
About the only thing you could do is shove some foam into the gap if necessary.
I know this intake is for 2018-2021 F150s, but will it work on a 2017 F150 3.5? I like the idea of having a cover over the air filter, especially a clear one. The air intake Roush makes for the 2017 doesn't have a cover. I would like to use this one if I can.
yes
Doesn’t it make sense that an oiled filter getting clogged quicker means it’s doing a better job? If the dry filter doesn’t clog, it’s gotta be going somewhere - that “somewhere” is in your motor.
Yes and no. Sometimes the oiled filter has a shitty micron rating (K&N) and actually traps less fine dust and dirt than a good dry filter.
dry filter can also catch dust and still let air through while oil and dust make mud and restrict when dirty...
Just bought one is it normal for the stock air vent that you put on the new filter box have a slight gap around ? The stock box just goes in tight no air leak. Called roush said it was okay, but felt they were bs
are you talking about the factory air scoop that attache to the new box or the lid with the clear window?
When you installed this did you have an issue with the air scoop that loosely fits in the whole on the bottom of the air box? When I installed this it kind of just loosely fit in that pre cut whole. Didn’t seem sealed at all.
i didnt notice that on mine...
I had the same issue with that. When you put the stick air vent to the stock box there is absolutely tight not wiggle, with the new box it's all loose even after bolt, roush told me it was ok,but doesn't seem right
What's the beat playing during the install? It's great.
Music from epidemic sound
Will this work on 2024 raptor v6?
Great video. I'm curious if you know if this 3.5 EcoBoost fitment will also fit the 2022 Powerboost?? I believe it's the same base 3.5 EcoBoost but I can find anything that states there is a different P/N for the Powerboost or not...
you just need to check that turbo inlet tubes are the same size, which I believe they are. Call roush... they have great customer service.. or hit them up on Facebook/instagram DM
The fitment is the same but it's tighter with the extra coolant tank by the Y pipes. I had to get my single pipe into the gasket with a screwdriver because of the angle.
Plastic is the best to use. I wish someone made larger cold pipes that were plastic.
Does adding a cai to the 3.5L cause the engine light to turn on? I was looking at the k&n. They’re $50 off right now lol
Nope
Just wondering is this install going to the same for a 2021 2.7?
yes Almost exactly the same
Didn't look like you used the pigtail provided - was it not necessary?
Nope
Great video but i think you missed a step. You have to take the factory air scoop off of the factory box and put it on the Roush air box :)
good call i did not show that in the video. I took the old one off but installed it on the new box off camera. Sorry about that
@@BeyondTheRaptor the issue I had with it is how it's supposed to look before I bolt it back down. It was a very tight fit on the original equipment but I couldn't get the Roush box to line up the same way for the scoop.
Can you hear more of the turbo with the cold air intake?
A bit, but More just air suction intake.
I put an injen intake on my truck if you like hearing your turbos go with a metal intake
that's a great tip for the metal intakes!
I had no idea the before and after would sound so different
You want to hear a really big difference try the AFe Magnum Force Stage 2 intakes. It's a twin filter setup and you really hear the turbos spooling.
They muffle the hell out of all cars stock, it's especially noticeable on turbocharged cars when you simply replace the air filter with a cone style open element filter as weird as it sounds. This is my third turbo vehicle, I wanted all the noises when I had my WRX and I just needed to find a CARB legal (I live in Dumbfuckistan) intake and put it on. I LOVE this intake since it comes with an airbox. If you leave the lid off you'll hear a lot more but your filter will get dirtier MUCH faster and you'll get a bit of heatsoak on the intake from heat coming off the engine, especially in the summer. Though heat from the engine won't be AS bad as it was on my WRX, these F-150's have a serious load of room under the hood! I'mma get this intake too, I want all the sneezes, wheezes, farts, and pops that come with a turbo (especially twin turbo!) engine.
Edit: I forgot to say with heat, you lose horsepower when you suck heat into your engine. I believe the stats are 1% loss of power for every 10 degrees increase in heat (Fahrenheit) , I'm sorry I don't know the stat in Celsius.
Edit Again: I also forgot to say that there's only like TWO CARB legal intakes that I've found, this one and I forget the other because I'm not getting the other.
Was there any change to fuel efficiency?
not much noticed yet
Very nice! Any change in the MPG?
Its hard to tell the way i drive :)
When I get mine I'll let you know. I primarily drive back and forth to work, which, luckily for me is only once a week with a little bit of city driving mixed in (grocery store, Subway, you know.) I'll throw a little report up when I get mine which should coincide with a fill up.
Edit: I should note that I pretty much Grandma Foot the throttle about 80% of the time.
@Bill did you notice any gains mpg or hp
Great video! Did you have to get it tuned afterwards?
No need
Do you have any intel on the performance module that comes with the Roush Performance PAC. It has to be installed by a dealer it’s a PCM tune.
What do theses and other addition do to the trucks warranty
Roush is a well know brand and I've seen little to no issues from dealers for aftermarket ROUSH parts
If it’s an F150, Roush Performance is a Ford associated company who builds the Raptor and the Roush F150, F250, Mustang, and Bronco. Roush vehicles are sold by select Ford dealers. You can buy and get these parts installed at any Ford dealership.
Can this work with the hybrid?
Yes
Will this work on a gen 3 raptor?
this was asked earlier and roush has great CS but i have not talked to them about this yet
Can you hear lots of turbo whistle noise?
A fair bit more yes! Specifically the blowoff
why changing it . it dose the same job ,. unless the intake mouth facing a different an open way for cold air
Less restrictive intake and washable filter that cam be services
Do you hear the turbo more?
Yes sir!
Nope! On my 3rd ECOBOOST Heard more with my 14 than 21. I also had an 18 & heard very little.
@@jamesvitale7132 You can hear my 19 pretty good with an S&B intake, which is half the cost.

Video would be better if you slowed it down a bit and do away with the annoying music version and add something to fit the video of working on your truck. It’s only what I was thinking. Other than that great job. Thanks
What's it add like 5 horsepower
maybe 1.5
1.25 :) no dyno numbers but its sound great!
Add an exhaust, the CAI and a tune like Livernois and you will gain 30+ torque and 30+hp easily.
I have used CAITs before, gotten mixed results...the only time I really saw any improvement was when we insulated the box, pipes and it seemed to help. But sitting in a hot engine bay in a Florida summer...cold is good. Just swapping out the air box same heat load better reevaluate. It only reduces the resistance to air flow but that only helps at WOT. These are daily drivers, not race engines. Deep throaty sound? Butt Dyno? Really? I am not going to second guess the Ford engineers and play bolt on aftermarket with my new King Ranch. I get 22 MPG HWY and 18+ in the city. That means more than a deep throaty roar...
The Ford air box is probably 1hp less than this $600 Roush unit...
@@enigma9789 I mean these are fun projects to do with your kids working on their beaters, and such. Gives you a chance to get under the hood and teach them. The old jeep wrangler I had got an upgraded intake and a snorkel just for practical reasons.
Totally respect your opinion. Practically.. the dry air filters are great for not having to pay for a new one every time but just clean the one you got.
WASTE OF MONEY!!! Honestly the video was great but the product is complete trash. ZERO noise gains, zero MPG gains, zero power gains according to said “butt dyno”. Save your money. I’m going back to stock for now.
