Holding out for Pokemon / Grand Seiko collab
I have been collecting Hot Wheels since '68 when they first came out. I am also an avid more budget friendly watch collector (Christopher Ward, Dekla, Seiko, Laco, Baltic), so while this peaked my interest, I don't have 10 grand to drop on this IWC. The good news is that you can get the Hot Wheels mainline version of the Mercedes 300SL Gullwing for the bargain price of $1.00. They also have a more upscale version with a transport truck in the $13.00 price range. Definitely worth tracking down if you are into both Hot Wheels and watch collecting. Thanks for the great video. Always look forward to your content.
I was never really into Hot Wheels. However, the Gullwing and the BMW 507 Roadster are my two favorite classic cars.
Loved Hot Wheels as a kid and I dig this watch! Just wish I could afford it. Ha! Would love to see a Van Halen commemorative watch! RIP, Ed.

My first reaction was it’s a bit weird. If you were watching this late March you’d stop and think “wait, what day is it?” But then it made sense. My daughter built a Lego princess castle this morning and in the garage was a Hotwheels Buick Riviera. I’m thinking of collecting myself, more of a Snake and Mongoose man.
Weird, but they will sell these easily Hot Wheels collectors are nuts.
The Boldr/Kenji Chai collaboration was much cooler and a twentieth of the price.
My first collection was of hotwheels, then matchbox. I had over 3000 cars at one point. I ended up selling off my hotwheels collection to pay for my wife's engagement ring. About a decade later, I sold off my matchbox collection. These cars were one of the very few things my dad and I bonded over and I never told him I sold off my collection.
As far as the watch goes...I'm not really interested because it kind of feels like it would cheapen my memories of my dad and my car collection..not to mention, I prefer keeping the rest of my associated memories with my father locked up in the past.

As a Watch collector and a Hot Wheels collector I would have appreciated seeing the HW logo on the watch case side….or did I miss that?
IWC’s CEO is a Hot Wheels collector so this makes sense from that perspective. That said I doubt the connection does anything positive for the brand.

Takes the cake for the most unexpected collaboration. Possibly ever? A $12K watch partnering with a brand of 99 cent toys.
'68 also happens to be the year Hot Wheels were introduced.

Not sure about this one. Definitely was a Hot Wheels fan as a kid, just not sure about the dial there. Awesome presentation.
Next year Vacheron collabs with the Teletubbies? Idk, I guess it's kinda cool to see big brands doing this stuff, since it does have appeal. Does it "cheapen" IWC? Apparently not, at ten grand, lol.

File with Chopard Ferrari, Bentley/Brietling, Marvel/Invicta under "Nobody Cares" The toolbox is particularly embarrassing. IWC's cheesy marketing is gonna damage the brand, that bit of wood on the rotor was another low point, I forget which Allied aeroplane this Wermacht supplier refrenced but it was lame.

Agree with you... I do like the presentation but I very much see where your coming from... Kind of cheapens the IWC brand...
