      Just because the bags look OK doesn’t mean they are. Ziploc bags should never be boiled. The boiling temperature of water is way above the maximum recommended temperature.

    • @kianbidari8121
      @kianbidari8121 5 років тому +2

      @@morningstar8187 The recommended temperature is set purposely set lower than the actual point at which the bags become dangerous or harmful to use, so that in case one was to hit that point, which is above boiling point, and were to sue for damages, SC Johnson could argue that they said never to bring the bags to such a temperature. The bags are completely safe to boil as long as you do not let them remain in contact with the metal part of the pot. Have you ever heard of Sous Vide? Where they literally use plastic bags to heat food items? It is the same idea, and I know it is a slightly different material, but from my countless times I have used such a method, the bags melting from boiling water was never an issue. I love trawling the net looking for something good to eat. Last week I found a site where many Europeans/Americans found themselves living in China for however long. One thing they ALL seemed to love is stir fried lettuce (all kinds) or spinach. I tried it and man was it ever delicious. Lettuce isn't just for salads, and burgers, and BLT's any more. At least not in my house. Here's my doctored version of their recipe. I've made this recipe using a mix of red leaf and/or romaine lettuce mixed with baby spinach.
    Fry lots of chopped up (smooshed is more flavorful) garlic for about 30 seconds in EVOO, throw some salt onto the hot oil, then throw in the washed green leaf vegetables, stir-fry together for no more than 2 minutes, so the spinach/lettuce is still tender. Amazingly delicious, healthy and inexpensive.
    Add ins to the leafy stir fry (use any or all--I used all): baby corn; sliced water chestnuts; straw (or fresh--I used both) mushrooms, sliced; whole green onions, sliced (snipped); baby bell peppers cut into bite-sized chunks. I stir fried all the "add in" veggies for about 2 minutes in the hot garlic oil before adding my leafy veggies.
    This recipe was so filling (we each had a pasta bowl full to the rim) that I put off cooking the entree AND I had so much left over I was able to freeze two more pasta bowl sized servings for another day. I also have enough of the veggies left over that I will be adding to my doctored slow cooker Hawaiian chicken recipe And still have enough to make a large batch of fried rice!

    This is something I wouldn't have minded trying before i knew about dioxins, xenoestrogens, and the phthalates that leach out of most plastics... especially when heated, melted, or burned.I recommend looking these up.
    looked tasty though.
    and im digging the show!

    I've been doing this for years in boy scouts and we call this eggs in a bag. What I was taught was to get all the air out and to check if they are done squeeze the thickest part of the eggs and if egg liquid comes out you need more time and if nothing comes out you're good
