This video was done as a joke. In no way, will doing any of this help you. It is not intended to be taken seriously. Pat Barker is a funny guy and thought this would be a fun thing to do. Enjoy some humor!
“Sometimes I don’t even use a mic... an-and people seem to like it better.”
I finally died at this part.
It really is funny how many people don't even bother to read the title of the video they're watching. "How NOT to Sing Bass," people. This is some funny stuff, guys. Good work!
Lol I read the tittle but the acting was so good I completely forgot why I came! So funny
I heard once from Richard Sterban that when he was younger, he attended a gospel concert and JD Sumner, his future-boss, was singing. He approached JD and asked "I want to be a bass singer, how can I sing so low like you?". JD replied "drink a lot of coffee, son" and when Richard came home, he drank coffee that much until he couldn't sleep! Many years later Richard would be singing with JD and Elvis, and even became the legendary "oom poppa mow mow" guy with the Oak Ridge Boys!
The Onion would be proud!
Right!!! 🤣🤣
Thanks for watching. Please subscribe if you haven’t already.
“Put that in a sub and it’s over” 🤣🤣🤣
Pat: Tries that technique
So professional
Me: also tries that same technique
I just sounded like a sheep 🐑
Thank you didn't know it would be that quick thx so much eager to learn
the dude in the glasses sounds like a bass Hank Hill when he speaks, great voice
How do they keep a straight face?
On a more serious note, tried it and it was very effective.
What a prankster
Johnny Cash speaking :O
Yall are crazy!!!🤣🤣
Is "flapping" a technical term? 😂
Funny video but if a person doesn't know anything, they may take this serious. Badicslly, do the opposite of what Pat says here. ... Pat is a great bass and he seems to be poking fun here I suppose but s.g.m. is more, or should be more, about ministry. George Younce gave me the best advice evwr, concentrate on being a low singer and depth will come. Tone placement is the difference is aound. I have heard Matt Goucher when he was starting out with Sould Out and now with Legacy Five. He has developed bettwr tone placement and you can hear a big difference. Tim Riley, Jeff Chapman, Chris West....all the really."cut" sounding bass singers ALL use tone placement to project and get that rich siund. It's not volume as much as using the resonating chambers in your mask. Relax. breath properly and practice tone placement but for southern gospel, don't worry about what notes your.hitting, be a willing vessel God can use!
As a former music teacher I find this hysterical.
sometimes I purposely sing a little louder then what is written for church music to make my bass voice carry farther out there are no mics I use all the voice placements without the fry try for the maximum blend of resonating with allot of air to drive the lower notes and get the tongue out of the way. I feel the voice box force down gets the fry sound and the tone goes in the wastepaper basket. I m still learning as a bass. we need great tone and power without the strain to sing good.Any suggestions for projection for us basses
No mic bass.
+D Clark this video was done as a joke for sure. Projection is definitely something to strive to learn and do better at. Fry is no good in my opinion.
I was expecting to get some advice on how to sing the C1's a little louder xD
Or just have many throat surgeries like me :-P
Hello I've tried to enter the Facebook chat but nothing has come up may you please accept me to the Bass singing central Facebook group
+Metalwing 123 will do
How about a few tips from Nic Val too? 😃😃😃
Basso Profundo
At my age I have a high range that isn't classified as a bass. Not sure how to become a bass instead of a baritone. Still trying though.
+Comic Wars it's a process. At the end of the day everybody can't become a bass, you have to have natural abilities as well as training
Tyranus Graves as I got older my voice got deeper and I was able to transition from baritone to bass.
You can't try to be a bass. You have to be naturally blessed with this voice lol
ahha nice one
They're joking😂
How to create an unnatural and restricted tone
😂😂
Dude I was practicing it lmao
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
He's singing incorrectly then lol
Great tips only IF you’re not a true bass and trying to be one. A true bass wouldn’t need to do this. A basso profundo or oktavist just stand there and sing! 😅
So basically do what Tim Riley and ray reese say not to do
Agreed Tim and ray been singing longer than barker so they know the technique of how to sing bass
😳
Guide how to sound like Smithers
Not sure if i like the Frog bass style
well.. an advice is still an advice. Nobody asks if it's good or healthy
Rubbish 😂
Worst advice that I have ever seen 😂😂please don't believe this
Agreed! This one is all humor
So wrong
Yes! Obviously, this was for fun
The mask technique works for me. I'm sorry but I would take advice from Tim Riley over this guy anyday.
