I’m from Nigeria 🇳🇬 living in Thailand. I came across your interview on Punch newspaper. Nigeria security officials and politicians are highly corrupt. There a lot of bandits from northern side, But our country is very rich with large resources and people are lovely.
Your country is lost. Islam and Muslims from the north brought Crime, Dead and Jihad. People in Europe are sick of Nigeria. Keep your Allah and be happy. Nigeria is lost. Thank Koran, Islam and Allah.
Hello Nico, sorry for your experience with our law enforcement officers. if you read in the news and social media sometime around October 2020, the youths of Nigeria across all states revolted against the police bringing about the #EndSARS. The military had to be brought in to quench the chaos of protests. That what most Nigerians go through everyday especially in Southern Nigeria. The country is choked by many security forces but with no impact because of corruption. Safe journey to your destination. Adios and Odabo.
@@Nico-RideMeFive-English listen i am tired of you coming here talking about ivoirien police or nigerian police corrupted with your UA-cam titles. @@davidyt3234 If you live there and know all the tricks and ways to get around ... ok. But as a traveller, getting into trouble is a different thing. Just the presence of so many road blocks is already threatening, being stopped every other minute is a major put-off, can not enjoy a journey.
They don’t really check anyone for security reason in these checkpoints. It’s an excuse to extort money. With so many checkpoints you will expect the country will be very safe already but it’s the opposite. This is not just happening in Nigeria but also in other third world countries in Asia, South Americas etc.
They do have roadblocks and sometimes expect something. For example in Indonesia. Usually they will try to find a mistake, and then impose a "fine". Even if it is only that you forgot to switch the turn signal. But they would not ask for watches, just a small amount will usually do.
Too much corrupt police and military personnel and checkpoints on the road kills the happiness, thrills and excitement of having a memorable and wonderful lifetime adventure. No wonder a lot of african students particularly nigerians have opted to stay permanently in the Phils instead of returning back to Africa.

You should have told that cop you're actually a Nigerian prince who will give him 100000$ worth of diamonds, IF he only helps you with 1000$ for the transport fees.
A mate of mine traveling with another duo was stopped at one of the check points to pay bribes to pass. While the other 2 blokes coughed up some pounds he chose the route of saying he couldn't pay because he spent all his money. They then gave him a choice of eating a peice of dog poo poo on a stick or accompanying the local police to their headquarters to discuss possible payment methods he could secure with a relative or friend to wire him money. He said after that experience he will always carry 2 extra tooth brushes and a bottle of fluoride

Hola Nico mi Hermano, Let’s continue in English so everyone may understand my expierence. As a fellow Southern European I have traveled in Nigeria alone by car. As you stated that they might beat you up or steal your stuff if you don’t carry cash is not the case, I always stated that I didn’t have cash on me and pay with card, even tho they don’t believe me they never went through my stuff. The people of Nigeria are suffering, a decent job pays them 70k Naira a month, due to inflation it’s not enough to get by for many people, including military and police officers. Them asking for something is just a routine to earn a little on the side. How ever I never was in a situation myself that police behaved unacceptable, but I witnessed police brutality towards their fellow Nigerian brothers and sisters which is very sad. Overall my expierence with Nigeria is very good, very nice people, to all Nigerians I would say “ thank you all, you may be proud of who you are and please stay strong in rough times”
