@KurtCaz 'mafia' in Morocco is not what you imagine it to be, they don't operate at all in public, they're VERY VERY hidden and only do drug traficking, the law enforcement here is VERY strict. It's nothing like the Mafia as you imagine it is in South American countries.

As a moroccan who live in Morocco (Casablanca) , never do things like this (Horses etc) , it's just made for tourists , or the familys who wan't to do things like this , it'es better to just walk and admire things like the Mosquée etc , The only one who made a good price , it's the man who made the tajine For the shoes it's mean that a dealer is in the hood When you choosed the other horseman they were fightin to pick you And for the taxi , the minimum price it's 7 , tell them to pute the "conteur" to have the real price at the end of the travel , you can see the "conteur" in front of you a little bit down Be Welcomed to this beautiful country my friend ! All my respect for your work !
It's "Compteur", not "Conteur" and it's "Put", not "Pute" 🤣🤣 "Compteur" or "Taximètre" is the Taximeter, but "Conteur" means a storyteller or a man who narrates tales for children 🤣🤣 "Put" is "Put" but "Pute" means "whore" or "kahba" 🤣🤣
So you shouldn't ride horses and instead just walk around looking at places where people pray? Ya it's cool architecture but once you have seen a few it gets old. When you go on vacation you like doing different things especially if they are relatively cheap. I get it, I wouldn't do any of the tourists things in my city but I don't mind doing it when I visit other cities. It's just different ways to see the country. Don't hate on all tourist traps some are cool. Riding horses is one that is totally fine. Any sightseeing really isn't a tourist trap, it's just a tour.

99% of the people you met were helpful. Some info: Don’t eat w your left hand, one reason they were looking esp in close quarters in the first cafe. Left hand used for other purposes after eating if you understand what I’m saying. Put the camera in your left hand when eating. The sticky “wax” was traditional soap. The “gang” wasnt a gang. One guy asked you in English if you were a youtuber but you didn’t understand his prononciation. Moroccan women’s football team is world class, not just football being permitted. They got out of group stage in 2023 World Cup and lost to France. Most of the camera comments were not not to film but to protect you and your equipment. Don’t bargain after you’re done. Do it before like you did in the taxi. Lyautey was the famous French “resident governor” of Morocco during the protectorate. We don’t say Berber any more in English but Tamazight (or incorrectly Amazigh).
Tamazight is the language. Indigeneous people are called Imazighen 🙌 Tamazight is split into many dialects like in the north is Tarifit and in the south Tashelhit and the Kabyle in Algeria have their own dialect as well as many other Imazighen from Morocco til Mali and so on!

Kurt your videos are true travel experiences and so few these days embrace this kind of adventure. From 1990 - 2000 I went to 25 countries surfing in remote places and have countless crazy stories from those times. My buddy and I drove from Casablanca-Agadir-Marakesh-Casablanca and the stories from that one trip alone are frickin whacky and wild to say the least. Nothing documented but memories. Cheers for encouraging people to explore outside of the resorts and live life a little more! Be safe everyone, walk tall and confident, learn from Kurts demeanour and you will be fine.

Yeah, most people don't seem to be aware that a considerable portion of South Africa's population consists of whites, because of the colonial past of course.
Poor Kurt. After his bad experience in the neighbourhood, "I have a great idea, lets go to the beach", he was met with a worse experience. I'm sorry I laughed so much. I love you Kurt
Kurt has made me walk around with a bit more confidence and talk to people more. For most of my life I avoid scenarios where I have to make conversation. Now saying that, a few whiskeys and I’m like a talk show host. No stopping me 😂😂
Getting a bit drunk and talking to random people in the street while in a new place is liberating. You can meet so many interesting people and if there is rejection or a social blunder, who cares? You'll never see the people again.
I'm not tall and good looking like kurt, however I talk to people in all places. I think it drives whoever I'm with crazy. Especially my family, because I'll often talk to young women, and they think I am only flirting, but the truth is young women are often looking to talk. They are more social than you think. You just have to earn their trust.
Hi Kurt, this is a damn funny content for me as a Moroccan and a casawi citizen who can understand you and the locals you met over there .. the ones you met with the horses are the worst. Shocks me that these scammers still operate. Same as cairo. Surely people are wise to it now and its just as much work to go get an actual job? Just kills the tourism industry and the knock on effect will be way worse, in terms of their local economy. I've already cancelled plans to go see the Pyramids due to an older video by you, Kurt. Thanks for the entertainment!

The camera is a powerful tool, particularly when it looks like someone possibly "famous" might be livestreaming. Not many people are dumb enough to try to commit a crime when they think they might be on "live TV" with potentially thousands of people watching. It saddens me as a Moroccan citezen living in the city of Casablanca to see them horsemen chasing tourists or even the locals trying to impose on them to ride their horses and fighting each other over that. Our country is progressing and we don't want this type of behaviours anymore. The authorities HAVE to intervene and change that. I really hope so! Kurt, welcome to Morocco and please try to have someone with you that will help you at least to understand what's going on since not every Moroccan person speak enough English especially if you visit ghetto's or poor urban areas which exist in almost any country in tge world. Our country is progressing and we want to give a good image to strangers and tourists but unfortunately we still have some issues we should take care of and thus why the authorities have to move. Much love❤
To the film maker of his Moroccan travels: You are sadly ignorant of local customs and ways of behaving in such unfamiliar environments. You are also patronising in your way of behaving and dealing with people. You always need to agree prices in advance, otherwise you are asking for problems! When you accepted a sweet biscuit from the stall, you couldn't be bothered to wait to be served, and interrupted another transaction with the two ladies, and walked away, boasting of having had a free sweet. That was not fair on the poor vendor, whose income is extremely minimal compared with your wealth! The water sellers make their income through their sales and photographs, and are famous for this, you shouldn't have accepted the drink if you didn't intend paying for it! You are so rudely dismissive of local people, and their ways of operating in Morocco. You are really embarrassing as a tourist! Please educate yourself better before travelling, and get rid of your aggresive superiority. It is very much better to travel with polite assertiveness! I travel as a single woman, and love Morocco, though I don't enjoy the hassle, but deal with it sensibly, politely, and with gentle humour.
Advice as a Moroccan: In Morocco, it is normal to negotiate anything from 100 dirham to 20 dirham. Now that you have visited the least safe city in the country, don't forget to visit the good side of the country like (Tangier, Rabat, Agadir) in the hope that you will like it. Enjoy bro🤙🏼

Hello Kurt Caz, My name is Mehdi. I'm from Morocco, specifically Casablanca. I've just watched your videos and I really feel sorry for what happened to you, especially on the beach. Not all people are like that; you just met the wrong ones. Next time, when you come again, take someone with you who knows the neighborhood, and it would be good if they were Moroccan, like that girl. I really wish you all the luck. Best regards, Mehdi
I went to Morocco just before Covid and had a terrible time. Most people were rude and aggressive and everyone tried to scam me or ask for money. Would never go back was a really horrible experience.
Been to Morocco multiple times. It's nice to do the touristy places, but be wary of folks there (e.g. Marrakech). Once you go to destinations that are less popular, the vibe is much nicer, and people much friendlier and trustworthy (e.g. Tetouan).
I went there in 2017, and got exactly the same feeling. I felt like I had to be on guard 90% of the time, and I didn't feel like fighting the men in a strange country. The only places that I found nice where desert cities, or places in the mountains (basically the less people the better...). It's not just marrakech.. I also went to fez, essaouria.. most of the men I met on the street there where annoying me. They either overcharged me, kept following me, or basically scared me away, which never happened in my other trips in Europe, or Asia. Man.. I relate too much to these videos of Kurt. I still even get angry about it. I had one nice interaction I remember from Morocco, in a city in the desert, a girl working at a restaurant related to me when I said I disliked being in Morocco, she felt the same. I hope she is alright there.
@@mycellphone4437 A major issue I've noticed is with some cities the touristy areas are actually more sketchy than the non touristy areas, it seems to be different with every country.

what makes me mad is the tourists always go to either Marrakesh or Casa , where most there is the most scammers , instead there is sooo much to see in my country specially in the north .where you gonna find nice people and stunning places .
This person is very smart. He targets these people even though he knows they can fool him. However, he continues to do so and then complains and plays the victim. It is known that South Africa hates Morocco and is its enemy, and I do not rule out that he also harbors grudges and has a specific goal for this video, in which he distorts the image of Moroccans. This great country is not with the Moroccans, and you will not do this to them. A real tourist is one who shows you the positive and negative sides of a country. I can go to any country and make a video like this and it will hurt and generalize that all the people of that country are scammers. It is foolish to look for specific people to shoot a video as a Moroccan. This video provoked me. I hope the authorities intervene in this matter
I’ve been to Morocco several times. Been followed, harassed and generally made to feel uncomfortable every time. Same in Tunisia. Honestly , although I love the place, I’d suggest just go to Spain…
Have you ever wondered why? They are poor, unemployed and everyday is a Hussle to buy food and pay rent all while competing with others in the same situation. These countries are not for snowflakes... so avoid and stick to a $5K vacation in Spain.. You get what you pay for.
Morocco was the same for me in 2018. Constant hassling by tour guide touts as soon as you get off the boat from Spain in Tangiers, they follow you for a LONG time, I ended up literally running away from them, and then when you get in a taxi and think you escaped, the taxi driver is trying to take you somewhere you don't want to go (his friend's store or something). We wanted to go to a big souk (market) and he insisted on taking us to a mosque-type of place. I can't remember what the taxi charged us but probably got scammed since there wasn't a meter.
I flew Fez from Sevilla in 2018 too. It was a terrifying experience. It still gives me goosebumps. I thought all the sane Moroccans already left that country for France, Belgium or Spain.
I remember travelling through Morocco & was on a train to Casablanca, a Moroccan woman asked me why I was going there & to be careful, after that I was on edge, saw a lot of young kids sniffing glue & while I was on my way to the large mosque there was a man laying on his back in the road, had a large wound on his hand & was motionless, no one stopped to help him, eventually two security men came over to him, to this day I don't know whether he was dead or not or what happened to him, good for you standing up to the guys on the beach with the horses......
Man, I love how you handled the situation with the horse guys. You did right and the only problem is that you're a straight arrow in a crooked environment. Also, this girl is a dream🥰
The horse situation was a real sh*t show. He knew he was going to be scammed then went ahead anyway. Not Great judgement on that one Kurt. 40 MAD was a little insulting. He might have got more respect if he had refused to pay at all as girl he asked afterwards suggested. When traveling don't open yourself up for needless conflict if you want to have a good time. If you are needing to create UA-cam content however, and you have built the expectation of danger then go ahead and poke the bear.
Sometimes it's worth paying for an official guide particularly if you are not good at negotiating and don't want the hassle. Pretty silly to just jump on a horse without establishing price and duration. Taxis must use the meter in Morocco. If they refuse, just get out of the cab and find another one. The penalties for commiting crimes against tourists are extremely stiff so unless the people you are dealing with are crazy or extremely desperate you are reatively safe. By the way never heard of Moroccan Mafia. Weed guys from Morocco are pretty chill. It's not the Compton. Be discreet about filming in Morocco it's a matter of personal privacy. When you are a guest in another country it's best to not be disrespectful. Don't invite conflict, you'll have a much better time. Locals are not "petrified" of Derb Sultan. The waxy stuff is called Saboon Bildie it's a wonderful olive oil based soap.

Never go with people who want to take you to see a place somewhere, no matter how kind they look.

By chance, the police took them into their vehicles, stole their remaining jewelry and threatened them. Especially Morocco and Egypt.

Hello Kurt Caz,
My name is Mehdi.
Best regards,
Mehdi
Been to Morocco twice, experienced the exat same thing, I could not go anywhere without being hassled
It's such a shame because it actually is a nice city and most people are very cool but these guys ruin everything.

Come in Algeria you will see a big differences between this two countries.
Tetouan).
same
I went there in 2017, and got exactly the same feeling.

Not true, you can't say that easily@@Omnispek78.
Where in Tunisia? Haven't experienced almost any hustlers/scammers there.
Have you ever wondered why? They are poor, unemployed and everyday is a Hussle to buy food and pay rent all while competing with others in the same situation.
These countries are not for snowflakes... so avoid and stick to a $5K vacation in Spain.. You get what you pay for.
Same sort of people that's why
There are Moroccans in Spain/whole of Europe who will do the same 😂😂😂
@@germanico4817 جزائري مسكين 😂
I thought all the sane Moroccans already left that country for France, Belgium or Spain.
can you easily find Moroccan hash there?
Yup, went last year, I wanted to leave on my 3rd day (I was there for 10 days), I ended up just staying in the all inclusive hotel

It was that way in 1976….still is….that’s just the way it goes. 😂. It is a beautiful country, well worth visiting.
The horse mafia is wild. I love deleting places off my bucket list thanks to these videos, you're doing gods work Kurt.
I was literally thinking of visiting morocco
every country has got its pros and cons.
