People seem to think listening to metal is like a personality trait and it’s not. People think listening to a certain type of music makes them dark and brooding instead of just listening to it cause you think it sounds good. I didn't know what music she liked until we got back to her place and she started blasting deathcore so her roommates couldn't hear what we were doing...but yeah, Ashley, if you're reading this, I had a great time.
I appreciate the normie-core content because growing up I didn’t live in a household where I could wear the stuff I wanted without backlash (or even afford it), but more than that I never fully connected with the alt aesthetic either so it was like I had one foot in the door music wise but could never fully fit in with the alt kids nor the actual normie kids.

16:52 Nirvana is classic rock, which was weird when I first heard them there, but Kurt died when I was a toddler. My middle school years (early/mid 00's) had a ton of pop-punk starting with Green Day and American Idiot, and going in both chronological direction. The first time I heard Good Riddance on the classic rock station a few years ago, my hair spontaneously turned gray.... 🧓
17:32 I shit you not, about 4-5 years ago I bought a Slipknot tank from H&M, which in eastern europe is like your most generic store where literally everyone and their grandmas get their affordable basic sweat shop clothes. The future is already here
I love that woman that went into deep lore about accents. Like you said that's my favorite genre of content. I shouldn't care about whatever you're talking about but you're approaching a ludicrous topic scientifically so I will watch everything.
I have rarely had negative interactions with metal fans at shows, we just talk about music like any other group of dedicated music fans/musicians. Obviously not everyone has positive experiences with metalheads cause with any group there’s assholes. I think it would be nice to see metalheads feature in a non derogatory way to reflect that we really aren’t all terrible gatekeeping assholes.
Emotional damage? Shit you ain’t wrong king. I Got molested by my friend and his girlfriend at 15, Korn was what really resonated with me after that. Then at 16/17 my girlfriend at the time’s uncle had a psychotic breakdown on me and The Acacia Strain brought me solace. At 21 I got roofied by a girl and Spite helped me cope. As cringey as metal culture can be(as exemplified in some of these Tik toks), it’s genuinely helped me feel less alone sometimes. I get most people aren’t into it and that’s ok. Like what you like, just don’t be punisher about it.
Now I know what all those girls I saw at rock/metal club nights do in their spare time. Gotta be honest, the dedication to honing one 'like' into an entire identity is impressive lol.
This reminded me of the guy standing behind me in the MIW crowd at Earthday Birthday 2 weeks ago... The whole time waiting for them to come in he's talking nonstop to the person beside him about how "these people don't know, man... All these pretty boys are gonna run when they start, they don't know this crowd man." The last thing heard him say before they started was "time to separate the men from the girls" 🙄🙄🙄
Who remembers when almost all white people with guitars music was misgenred as emo. I still remember some guy listing Slipknot and Radiohead as his favorite emo bands.

Who is that linguist girl? --and can I marry her?-- But yeah, scientifically overanalyzing the things nobody thinks, or even really cares about, are the most interesting studies IMO.
01:41 WAYYYYY better than emo girl. By an order of magnitude lol. If they actually made a video, I think that would be the final nail in MGK's pop punk coffin.
The part about people calling metalcore screamo reminded me of this meme i saw that was like Oh you listen to that screamo stuff?? 16yr old me:IT'S NOT CALLED SCREAMO IT'S CALLED METALCORE GET IT RIGHT UGH vs 24YR old me:hell yea man love it I was like "yea 😂"
The screamo thing isn't necessarily annoying to me because of the mis-genre-ing. It's the fact that it's usually used in a super negative context. It's like the modern equivalent of calling everything heavier than Elvis "death metal". That and the logic for non-listeners of what is and isn't "screamo" is just so overly simplistic. To some of those people, a song is screamo if a band member screams even once, which is just a shallow way of categorizing music, and it technically makes James Brown and the Isley Brothers screamo. It's like if I called Katy Perry "gangsta rap" because Snoop Dogg raps like 4 bars in California Girls. I won't argue or get upset over it, but I definitely internally eyeroll if someone calls something like Linkin Park screamo just because Chester yells for like 20 seconds.

Yes to putting movie and tv show samples back in songs. We've used a few.
I recognized that tease of a break at 18:13 so goddamn much!!! It took a little while (song nr. 103 on playlist) but I found it. O.G. Loco - Of Mice & Men. 🥳😆🤘 (and had I just watched 20 more seconds... hahaha)
"begone, Jezebell" in metalcore font would be a killer shirt
I gotta say I never fully grasped how bad metal tok was and I know I'm late to the party on this video but metal tok is full of folks who look like the dudes who use to hang outside pizza hut and block buster video in 1989
16:52 Nirvana is classic rock, which was weird when I first heard them there, but Kurt died when I was a toddler. My middle school years (early/mid 00's) had a ton of pop-punk starting with Green Day and American Idiot, and going in both chronological direction. The first time I heard Good Riddance on the classic rock station a few years ago, my hair spontaneously turned gray.... 🧓
the moshing at @14:30ish is like GTA San Andreas dancing bad lolol
Not gonna lie, the breakdowns in the “try not to headband challenge” made me want to get up and smash some stuff.
7:29 and on describe me to a T.
Also currently wearing my battle vest and drinking a Budweiser lol
Lmfao break down blue balls needs to be a t shirt 😂😂😂
🤢
Who remembers when almost all white people with guitars music was misgenred as emo. I still remember some guy listing Slipknot and Radiohead as his favorite emo bands.
Need to create an app called "buttrock people meet" cuz I still believe in true love.
Fox racing girls near you are looking for love
Your comments at 13:23 literally remind me of the date I went on last weekend. He just this blonde white dude and I’ve got the e-girl hair dye and my septum pierced 😭 like why actually
It’s crazy Slipknot is to little kids now what KISS was to me when I was little
"Plural Noun" is my new fav band.
It's true. Slipknot are Dad rock now. I play them in the car on the way to work and my Daughter has a "retro" T-shirt of them.
My UA-cam scene is 240p windows movie maker, with a "thanks for watching!" at the end.
Who is that linguist girl? --and can I marry her?-- But yeah, scientifically overanalyzing the things nobody thinks, or even really cares about, are the most interesting studies IMO.
The very last frame upon where the video ends and I think the video is abour to start, looks like Finn is about to blow a big kiss 😘
Paleface is amazing Finn you should check em out! I feel metal and rock/punk pop in general have become way more fun again and I love it!
Oh shit, Izzy is my friend in real life since since I've been like 15, It's awesome to see him in the video. He's been doing good on tiktok this year.
I believe blink is trying to sound like oasis, tom singing like Liam faking a English way of singing
23:19 I got into heavy music because I lack emotions, and I need something easier to emulate than love.
the worst part of this video is that it ends
Watching your videos always reminds me of all the shitty hardcore bands I use to listen to… And I miss those days now…
Speaking of dreamy metal men. The tin man is the epitome of dream metal guys.
01:41 WAYYYYY better than emo girl. By an order of magnitude lol. If they actually made a video, I think that would be the final nail in MGK's pop punk coffin.
That last one got me in the feels😂
No shame I'm going to see Lorna Shore and Suicide Silence on may 17th in Columbus and I'm legitimately excited
"Begone Jezebel" ADVANCED SHIT RIGHT HERE
The part about people calling metalcore screamo reminded me of this meme i saw that was like
Oh you listen to that screamo stuff??
16yr old me:IT'S NOT CALLED SCREAMO IT'S CALLED METALCORE GET IT RIGHT UGH
vs 24YR old me:hell yea man love it
I was like "yea 😂"
HAHAHHAHA omg I'm glad I could provide the ONE TRUTH for metalheads! Love your stuff man! ❤️
I'm unironically going to search out that pop punk accent video now
The Mortician reference 😂😂😂
