I made a whole excel sheet with games I have on my backlog, games I wanna buy this year, my excitement levels for each, etc. It’s a really great way at keeping yourself organized and being aware of what you have! I too wanna spend a lot less this year and play a lot more!

Luckily my Switch backlog isn't too bad I think, off the top of my head I got Sonic Superstars and the Spryo remastered trilogy (which I've had forever). Although I might be adding Dragon Quest Monsters to that pile. idk not a big Pokemon or Dragon Quest person but something about combining the two with the Akira Toriyama art style is really putting an itch in my brain that feels like it needs to be scratched lol
I commend you for tackling your backlog! Mine is extensive and filled with long games, which does not fit with a PhD student/comp teacher schedule. But know I’m living vicariously through you as games get completed! Edited to add: the only two new games in store for me are Persona 3 Reload and Unicorn Overlord, so hopefully those don’t get in the way of my backlog 😅
You're not alone in feeling stressed about starting Dragon Quest Builders 2. I've never been into Minecraft because I almost look at in the same way as I do MMOs. It feels never-ending/addictive and I need some type of structure in most of the games I play. However, I played DQB2 last year and loved it! It really does give you more focused tasks that's conducive to pick up and play for shorter bursts, but also a game you could play for hours at a time and make your own fun outside of the main story quests. The Dragon Quest aesthetic and music also brings a lot of the cozy and comforting energy that you'd expect. Highly recommend giving it a go this year! Great video and an excellent list of games you have lined up!

I know I was intimidated by persona 5 for the same reason for a while, but I finally decided to pick it up in the summer and it was fantastic and I honestly couldn’t put it down until I was done. Also, while I put in 165 hours, I might finished it faster than many other shorter games just because of how obsessed I was with it.
In my opnion, you need to Play P5 Royal. My advice is to see what you should do to have access to the new semester. After check my backlog, I decided to choose some games that I want to play in 2024. While I'm playing these games, I pretend to play some random games I decide to play that are in my backlog. The games I plan to play in 2024 are: Astral Chain Zelda BTW Fire Emblem Three Houses Yakuza Like a dragon Persona 5 Strike Detroit Become Human Resident Evil
I played the original Ace Attorney trilogy as a kid and I am replaying it now, such a great game series. I played chronicles about a year ago now, and what is so crazy to me is that as much as I absolutely adore the first trilogy, chronicles is better (***In my opinion***). Hope you have fun when you get around to them
I understand the want to play new games! I had started Ys 8 (great game by the way) and got like 20 hours in, but then Prince of Persia came out now I can’t stop playing that😂
Chrono Cross was one of the games in 2022 I bought and finished because I had taken out Chrono Trigger only the year before and was so excited to get it done as Cross never came out in Australia on PS1.
I finished Okami last year. (no spoilers) My best tip for anyone playing that game is, if you find it to be boring, repetitive or frustrating after the two hours mark: let it go. The end is good, but after the first two hours I stopped having fun and was mostly frustrated until the end. I would not recommend continue the game if you are not having fun. I am almost through persona 5 royal. (no spoilers) I almost got soft locked 48 hours into the game, so to everyone playing this game. Have a backup save for every time you start a new palace. Hopefully you will never need it, but it can save you having to replay the whole game, if you are unlucky. I played persona 3 portable and persona 4 golden before this game, it is not need but I was happy to have done it before tackling this beast of a game XD

Awesome games there. For me this year, My favourite genre is FPS...and I have a ton on my Steam library and I feel like finally going through them because I have put them on the backburner for so long. Cause last year all I played was my Switch 😅 and might do again

I won't lie, I'm new here but honestly wasn't expecting a big RPG/Adventure game fan when checking your channel out. I was expecting the usual Mario, maybe Pokemon or somethimg but I can already tell you've got a lot of love for a wide variety. You've got cool stuff to look forward to in this backlog. As for the games, definite big accolades for all of Ace Attorney from me. Been one of my favorite game series since i was a teenager. You're in for greatness all around. As for the order to play in, technically Great Ace Attorney can be played whenever. But as far as easing into the series and how things work, yeah starting with 123 and then 456 is best. The series adds more mechanics as it goes along and Great Ace Attorney has the most unique bells and whistles that may be a bit much for a newer player.
I'm drowning in my backlog, the problem is that there's so many good games and they go on sale often :') My backlog is: 1 game for ps4, 5 for PC, and 16 for Switch. Dragon quest builders 2 is incredible! It's in my top 5 games
Don't beat yourself up too much; I feel like a 17 game backlog isn't bad at all. You have all gems on your backlog though so whatever you pick will be a good time. I have 657 physical games in my backlog. I'll get to them all one day 😅
My backlog has a fair amount of overlap with the ones you listed, so I may not be of much help. I don't know what it is about Dragon Quest Builders 2 either... my wife got it for me for my birthday, and it still sits there. I think that little ol' Trails series is a reason why so much has ended up on my backlog. I'd say for Final Fantasy IX or X (I don't remember if those were in your final 6 or not). Have fun!

My friend, you are in for an INCREDIBLE year! Every game you showed, I was just like “omg she’s gonna love that…omg wait no this one’s even BETTER”. AITSF is freaking phenomenal and a wiiiild ride. I just beat Chrono Cross this past year and it’s somehow so cozy??? Such a fascinating world and I loved all the recruitable characters. Pls lemme know how DQ Dark Prince is - I’m not much of a DQ fan tbh, but that one really intrigued me. FFIX is a masterpiece and FFX has truly changed my life. X-2 is def quirky lol but honestly SO much fun. Just go into it with an open mind. GURL, you’ve GOT to play Persona 5!!! Get ready to have your life wrecked. The only game on here I’d warn you of is, surprisingly, Nier Automata. Just go into it knowing you’ll have to beat it multiple times for it to make ANY sense. I didn’t know that and felt super cheated by the “ending”. It seems like soooo many of us are dedicated to decimating our backlogs this year, myself included (with my one exception being FF7 Rebirth, obviously). I just started Tales of Legendia for the PS2 and the Grandia HD Collection cuz I’m itching for old-school RPGs right now.
SMT V was my first SMT game. It was a good game. Great music, great battle system but it is challenging. Dragon Quest Monsters actually has more similarities to SMT than Pokémon because it has the monster fusion mechanic. There are difficultly options for SMT, so if it seems too hard, you can adjust the difficulty.
I made a challenge for my self this year! I want to beat 30 games in a year, I’m not rushing my self either if I don’t beat 30 that’s okay too! It just helping me keep on focus of what I want to play this year❤️ Also I hope you beat your back log this year and I love this video!❤️
Yes, Harvestella! I think it also took me about 50-ish hours, and I didn't even completely finish the bonus dungeon, so I could have easily put 70 hours into it... I love that game so much.

FF9 is so good! I would probably call it a medium length RPG in the 30-40 hr range. Beyond that, there are just a lot of great games in this collection
This is year of the Dragon Age spin-offs for you! PLAY FFX WITH ME! I've played the beginning so many freaking times because I started over on multiple consoles. The Switch will be the console I will beat it on. I will make it past the tournament! Also Nier Automata. Girl, time to buddy game some of these. Excited for you to get into Persona. Those games are long, but oh my god, I love them. It's worth the time sink for sure.
personally I would do FF9 over 10, but I can get if you find 10's world more enticing I'm doing my own run through of FF games but w/ the Ivalice subsection, I already beat Tactics Advance so now my plan is to finish 12, and then do 12 Revenant Wings, Tactics A2, Tactics, then Vagrant Story what a weird timeline
Persona 3 and 4 golden both physical releases for switch through LRG. I got 3 and now im waiting on 4 golden to show up. I still need persona 5 Royal for switch. I think I'll play 3 first. There was a time when I really wanted to try every single game on my 1-in-258 DS game card. I know not great but I got it as a kid and all my save files are on there. So I'll keep it. 😅 Anyway I think I played a maximum of 20-30 games from it. Together with my little cousin we maybe played probably 45 games or so. So my backlog is huge. Add 3 wii games, around 8 3ds games and maybe 10 switch games 😂😂
SMTV gets a little flak because the philosophical choices you usually make in these games aren’t as impactful. Still an incredible game and one of my favourite RPGs on the Switch 🙂
i look at my backlog and almost all of them are RPGs. and Dragon's quest 11's post game is already kicking my ass and taking all my time ( longer than i inticipated ) so it's only gonna be harder and harder for me to complete my backlog 🥲

FFX was my first FF and it was a great first impression of the series for me. I've since played FF7 and I'm hoping to eventually get to FF9.

You definitely don't need to play the Apollo Justice Trilogy before Chronicles. Chronicles was so much fun, I really recommend! 😁
