Honestly, the Kozuki's fit more in the exception. Like the Monkeys, it seems the personality skips a generation (child takes more after the grandfather), but all the Kozuki's respect each other and have Wano's best interests at heart.

Oh, it's good. I've been reading it since 2004, in the monthly Shonen Jumps when it first came to the west. Feels wild since this is series is only a few years younger than I am.
What makes this even more compelling is that shanks protects Elbaf the land of the giants, in the bible Nephilim or GIANTS are essentially demi-gods born from an angel and human. If this theory bolds true this would make shanks in his own way a giant.
The theory does have a major hole in it though. If the CDs wrote Shanks off because he wasn't pure, then why does the fleet admiral and Gorosei make exceptions for him? Even Doffy was turned back when he tried to return to the holy land. It makes more sense that they didn't know Roger had him until he already spent many years as a pirate. So now they respect him as one of them from a distance as long as he doesn't break any of their taboos. Sengoku didn't end the war because Shanks is so badass, he stopped the war because a CD (Shanks) ordered him to.

He hasn’t formally stepped down, and I imagine you cannot revoke one’s celestial position for anything short of personally choosing to, since that would set a precedent most of them do not like (that their absolute power can be take away). They have to obey their rules and respect his heritage by letting him into mariejois and avoiding fights with him, but they don’t want him there, so they don’t ask for him back.
Bad theory. This basically just says Bible says something so Oda must've copied it. There is nothing compelling about this. Elbaf and Shanks are Norse themed not Biblic/Judeo-Christian themed. This also makes zero sense because Giants aren't humans in OP. Shanks is in no way a Giant, this made zero sense.

I really like this idea of Shanks being the child of two vastly different groups. It only adds more mystique to Shanks, and it's a great way of tying Rocks back into current events. Plus, Roger raising his greatest enemies child with Garp later raising Ace is a cool callback.
i dont think he was abandoned. As corazon said, pirates can't resist when they see a chest, the will always take it. Thats why i think shakns was placed in that chest deliberately, propably to escape from the destruction of the island.

Dragon wants to keep his family a secret even from his best friend Ivankov while Luffy just honestly says what he thinks right now out loud even to total strangers. Dragon's is very calculated by founding and building up an organisation over years while Luffy is very spontaneous in which adventure he wants to go on next.
fact that he was not referred to as "Shanks" or "Red-Haired" by any of the Gorosei and non of his key distinguishing features (No left arm and no scars over eye) were shown in addition to a couple other factors, makes me question if that man talking to the Gorosei was indeed Shanks
It’s crazy how oda not only has foreshadowing in his conversations but also his scene and clothing choices, shanks as a baby being in a onesie that has sun, moon, and star shapes doesn’t seem like a regular throw away design, going based on the theory it would make sense he had sun, moon and star shapes all over his body given he’s a physical representation of what combining both of his lineages would look like, As well as giving way for why the elder (stars) would give council to either shanks himself or a possible twin we have yet to see outside of that meeting.

I think it would be better if Rocks were more of a grey area. However, at God Valley, he was in the right. With Oda liking parallels, I can see Rocks asking Roger to take his son because some of the Celestial Dragons wanted to kill Shanks.

I agree. Shanks will be the only character with both D and Celestial Dragons blood. It would make him one of the most interesting characters as well as one of the most important. We even made many videos similar to this one explaining why Rocks is his father and how he married a Celestial Dragon which made him an even more dangerous criminal. It was also how he may have learned the importance about God Valley The pirate chest IMO proves Shanks has pirate heritage as it is the most piratey thing aside from maybe a Jolly Roger. It's possible Xebec also tried to steal Shanks from the Celestial Dragon but I'm more confident it's a clue to his heritage. I really like this theory. Ace took his mother's name instead of Rodger's, which could be the same here for Shanks as his mother would have to be a Figarland. This ties together nicely when you consider they wanted to erase Rock's name from history.
Now that I think about it, Shanks got his name from Roger (probably). That means he actually has another, true name. The one he was given at birth. Unless he had the name on his clothes or something.
This theory of Shanks D. Figarland sounds a bit like Game of Thrones: specifically Rocks is Rhaegar Targaryen, the unnamed Figarland woman is Lyanna Stark, and Shanks is Jon Snow. As well as Roger being Ned Stark 😉

Another supporting idea showing the possible parental contrast is that Rocks built a crew around all of the strongest pirates he could find. Meanwhile Shanks, outside of his main crew, has a bunch of famously weak allies that he protects with his reputation.
Ever since Whitebeard mentioned his scar to shanks, I’ve always thought he was referring to Rocks as the man who scarred him. Roger being the man makes no sense for many reasons with the biggest ones being - why refer to him cryptically as ‘that bastard’ then to go on and reminisce about him fondly in the next panel? - why would *Shanks* of all people remind him of Roger when Roger’s literal flesh and blood was his second division commander? WB also goes on to name drop Roger, Garp and Sengoku. What do Whitebeard, Shanks, Roger, Garp and Sengoku have in common? All were present at god valley, and even though it doesn’t seem that Sengoku was there, he’s the only one in the series to actually explain what happened. And why would looking at Shanks’ face specifically remind him of the scar? Oda specifically wrote “face” (顔) in that panel, so it’s not like that was a liberty taken by any translators. Implies that the person who scared him looks like shanks. If we rule out Roger, who’s left that genuinely intimidated or at least posed a threat to Whitebeard? His former captain, one of the most violent men he’s ever known and _still_ resented even in Wano. Whitebeard cryptically warned Oden about how too many ambitious people can’t share a ship, saying he knows from experience. Obviously referring to Rocks and the crew. And as if we needed any more hints about how brutal Rocks is, *he* made Kaido’s top 5 threats along with Roger, WB, oden and Shanks. Over big mom and any marines. All that always suggested to me that Shanks is related to Rocks and maybe his son. The introduction of Garling also still works anyway though if we assume Garling is Shanks uncle or something, they may still look very similar (Zoro and Ushimaru). So even if Garling was the one to scar Whitebeard, the resemblance could still be there
Love this idea. I’ve been saying for awhile now that once we fully understand Shank’s origins that some of the most significant context of the whole story will be delivered upon.
This also makes sense why Shanks and Blackbeard are fated to clash. Both having a connection to Rocks, both having a connection to the world nobles (Shanks actually being one and Blackbeard wanting to become one)

The main contrast between Dragon and Luffy is based around the concepts of freedom and binding responsibilities. Luffy strives to be the freest person and believes that’s what it means to be the pirate king, not bound by any higher authority figures or moral obligations. Dragon, on the other hand, while it may seem like he is also a free spirit at first, is more like his father Garp than he is like Luffy in that he is bound by a greater purpose of toppling the World Government, to which he has devoted his life. Garp also has devoted himself to his duties, except unlike Dragon he believes the best way forward is to work through the established system of the marines instead of overthrowing it, in spite of his disdain for the celestial dragons. Luffy stands out from both of them in that manner as a true free spirit with no greater responsibilities than to himself and his crew.
Rocks was probably erased because of his ambition to become king of the world. If the public knew that such a strong guy like that accompanied by so many, even now, strong figures seemed to almost succeed in becoming king of the world, then there would be imitators. Whitebeard and Roger saying that their dreams were possible was enough to start and restart the golden age of pirates. If something looks possible, then people will rally around it. If Imu was revealed, then there would be no shortage of pirates attacking Marie Geoise and trying to take his spot.
i just realized something that might mean that Doflamingo is an Anti-Shanks. Not only celestial dragon turned pirate but also they have inspired others and have different treatment towards them (Bellamy & Luffy).
Im with the theory that Shanks is the Son of Rocks but im leaning more on the Rocks is the Celestial Dragon and not the mom. He must have thrown away his real Last name Figarland due to the digust, he had a relationship with a commoner and like you said it is taboo so that caused him to "wanting" to change the world causing him to become a pirate and waging war in God Valley. Him being a celestial dragon also strengthen the answer to the question to why Kaido, Big Mom and Whitebeard would join his crew. Imagine being in a pirate crew led by a Celestial Dragon.

The scene where Shanks cried also might be the time when Roger told Shanks about his parents that's why he didn't pursue the one piece yet to find out the truth about his lineage this may also be the time when the WG find out about Shanks being figarland.

A high-idea I had was that there was a certain way a celestial dragons' death has to be handled or it has a negative real world effect somehow. That's why harming any was so serious , because they couldnt risk one dying.
we have no reason to believe that Shanks lineage was known to the WG until after he had already grown too powerful and too 'corrupted' by the outside world. If they did, this is a cool exploration of ideas. I actually think Roger probably told Shanks he was a CD, and thats part of the tears in the flashback. Shanks grew stronger and then went to go confront his lineage, reveals it to the WG, they confirm it, and now they have this tense relationship because Shanks has been someone that maintains the status quo for the most part, a useful gatekeeper. Thats now changed it seems.

I think the god valley incident was the rocks pirates went to god valley for a rio poneglpyh and was destroying the admirals,vice admirals and god knights but some god knights and admirals wasnt present at god valley i.e. sengoku, the roger pirates showed up also looking for the poneglpyh at god valley and only promised to help if they could get a copy of it, the WG begrudgingly agreed and thats why they are embarrassed to talk about it and covered it up as to them it seemed like many pirates besides the rocks pirates were catching onto the poneglpyhs, Rocks was particularly erased since he was from an era before roger that sought after the poneglpyhs first and roger wasnt erased since the WG didnt think roger could do anything with one poneglpyh that he cant read and gave roger clout as the pirate king when he found the one piece to give a reason to explain to the world why he had to be executed. Now as far as shanks is concerned what of instead of having half rocks blood he had half nerona blood, so hes half nerona half figarland, it would explain why he was abandoned as everything surrounding imu is shrouded in the void or not knowing he exists and would explain why after Shanks stole the nika nika fruit that shanks still has the privilege of being a celestial dragon while the donquixotes were punished for less
I like this theory because of its connection with Blackbeard. Blackbeard and Shanks are rivals and will likely clash by the end of the story. If Shanks really is the son of Roxs then it’s humorous that Blackbeard, not Shanks, is the one that’s following in Rox’s footsteps and idolizes him.
its possible that Shanks was thought to be dead as the destruction of an island kinda has that vibe, but i do think that he is of normal person lineage as well as celestial dragon descent too. but my thoughts are that the mother was from west blue and was married that whole thing we know from Charlos that celestials take women from husbands and marry them regardless, so i think this happened she was kidnapped and made to have the baby of the celestial dragon, but at God Valley she took advantage of the chaos and put the baby inside the chest knowing a pirate would take it away from them. and as the island was destroyed they wouldn't see the need to give the baby back and raised him. by the time they (CD) realised it was already too late he was with pirates too long and didn't try to go near Roger because it was dangerous, that could have been what Roger told Shanks which made him cry & how he was able to know that his mother was from west blue so therefore he called it hometown so to speak. the CD knew he would find out and probably thought it would be best to give him certain liberties. this could have been a deciding factor in him becoming a Yonko cause that was only 6 years ago allegedly. otherwise he would have had a massive fight taking the spot from someone(unless the Yonko system was only created 6 years ago). but never has that been mentioned. it gives Shanks a lot of weight on both sides. there is more i could say but i'll leave it at that lol. Roger kept the secret to protect Shanks and it also kept the CD from having a blemish to their name.
Xebec collects the strongest pirates for his crew via Davey Back Fights. With Shanks recruiting the weakest of the weak to protect them like against Kidd. Very much a parent and child being polar opposites.
I think they didn’t care about him because he had been “poisoned” by being touched by a regular human(Roger and his crew) so they didn’t see him as a celestial dragon anymore just like the Don Quixote family

Celestial dragon would have killed him as a baby. Roger saving the baby is logical but Roger and Garp fought against someone who came for his baby is illogical. There is no way that happened. They would have allowed him rampaging through God valley and even helped him. I don't think Rocks was stupid person who simply wanted to kill all while risking his own child. The idea is inconsistent and full of holes.
not at all, from all the information we have abou rocks, he was the most violent, unreasonable and ruthless pirate ever, besides even in his crew they were not supportive of eachother ot the point there was no team behaviour , thats the mentality of their captain. So if anyone would private him to see his child or even kill his lover in an act of defiance, this man would be on horse back killing every single person he meets on that valley.
First point, maybe by abandoning it they thought they already dealt with the baby. Or maybe the mom actually hid the baby and they never found it, so that's not something that invalidates the theory at all. Second point, maybe they never knew that was the reason of the invasion. Roger seems surprised to see a baby in a chest when he found Shanks. They may have seen a person way too strong with a bad rep destroying an island and simply went to take him down because he was causing way too much destruction in the middle of his quest. Third point, Rocks does seems to be the kind of person that would do that. Specially against celestial dragons. That baby was probably his best shot at becoming "the king of the world". A baby celestial dragon with his blood might've been his plan at ascending to the point he wanted and they were taking him away from him. He might've rampaged to this island out of interest, and not love for his child and wife (?).

My question is if they abandoned baby Shank's for being a taint on their "pure blood" then why would they care about uta potentially holding the same blood. If anything that would make them want to kill her more because she is another taint on there image. Is possible that they decided to abandon baby shanks because they wanted to cover up Rocks. Something like if they bring to light that Rodgers has a baby celestial dragon. It would bring up the question of how he even got his hands all on one in the first place.

I think that's not the case because I feel like they would've hunted Shanks more actively if that was the case (after Roger's death, ofc). We saw what happens to a Celestial Dragon that also has D. blood in their veins. Cobra was killed because he had too much info, but Vivi is being hunted simply because they confirmed she is Nefertari D. Vivi. If he was confirmed Figarland D. Shanks I think they would've done the same. It's almost like if a person had both celestial dragon's blood and D. clan blood that person would have the will to destroy the World Government with the means to do so, and that's why they want to erase that possibility. But I still can't deny that it is in fact a good theory and would be pretty happy if it were to be true, I just don't believe in it yet.
I hope Buggy was the child of a slave. Like some random tribe of people that have nothing special about them except for red noses that the Celestial Dragons enslaved and turned into jesters. That would make it funny that the tribe's sole survivor fails upwards and turns the tables on their establishment leading to it's downfall.
The only thing I'm left wondering with this theory is why was Roger on God Valley and why did he sided with the marines. I mean, it could be as simple as a Luffy kind of thing, he arrived there by chance at that specific moment, he befriended someone and when Rocks went rampaging through the island he defended his friend homeland. But as valid as that would be it seems a little too simplistic.

My theory - I think the D. is a fallen Celestial Dragon family name. One of the initial 20 kings, who wanted a free world and didn't believe in what the rest of the World Government wanted to do. So they broke away, and over 800 years, their descendants include Trafalgar D. Water Law, Monkey D. Garp/Monkey D. Dragon, Monkey D. Luffy, etc. Rocks D. Xebec might've been one of the earliest descendants of the original 'D' Celestial Dragons, which is what that fight on God Valley might've been - to fight for his family's right to freedom. His ambition to be 'king of the world' rings different in this context. His family was mistreated, shunned and hunted - and he wants to destroy the existing hierarchy so that his family takes their place at the top of the chain (he's either a radical who has seen his family destroyed by the dragons, or actually a Luffy-esque freedom-loving free-spirited character, who just wanted the world to be free and was painted badly by the WG because duh). Shanks is not a part of the D. family, but he descends from a different Celestial Dragon family. BlackBeard is envious of these Celestial Dragon ties, and wants to ascend to the level of the Gods himself (he knows about the D. and Shanks history, but I'm not sure yet how. Perhaps the knowledge stored within the Yami Yami no Mi?). I think the final climax will have the D. family finally achieve their true dream of abolishing the WG and placing a more liberal, free system in place - just like their ancestors wanted 800 years ago. And the One Piece is something which aids in that conquest - perhaps something that is a weakness of the current WG. Maybe a Devil Fruit, maybe a weapon, maybe information. One thing's for sure - I CANNOT wait to see how Oda spins this. It's finally reaching its conclusion!
My only gripe with any god valley/shanks origin theory is with how Buggy fits into the picture as he almost certainly had to have been picked up there as well
Rocks asked Roger to go find the chest and raise his kid. Just like Roger asked Garp to do. Also the picture of shanks in the chest he literally has celestial bodies on his cloth's.
Maybe Rocks was told or found out or even assumed that his baby would be executed. And that's why he did all that. And then after battle Roger found Baby Shanks and put it together.. Or maybe Xebec asked Roger to raise Baby Shanks like Roger asked Garp for Ace.. Good thing Roger better at child-rearing than Garp 😂 Shanks would be a donut too by now!

If you look at the current Elders naming scheme, it follows the roman pantheon. I have this theory that the ancient kingdom all possessed Godlike devil fruits or perhaps the were actual Gods with latent special abilities (seems a very Oda like thing to symbolize humanity killing their Gods out of greed). The twenty kingdoms created the ancient weapons and used them to take their devil fruits for themselves or to just end their reign, or steal technology. If they were in fact gods it would be pretty cool also if Nika, realizing their defeat, used their kingdoms immense technology to implant their lineage factors into Devil Fruits, almost sending themselves through time until they can beat the World Government and that's why the World Government was looking into creating them so much, because they knew it was possible. How Vegapunk talks about lineage factors is almost like how we know DNA in our real world. Eating a devil fruit changes a person's lineage factor/DNA to give them those abilites and Vegapunk also said Zoan type fruits were the only ones that can be produced artificially. Is it such a stretch to think that when a Zoan awakening happens, your DNA is identical to the gods themselves? Just the name and the way the elders talk about the Hito Hito no mi made me wonder alot. "Human Human Fruit Model: Nika", the word model makes it seem like they were manufactured doesn't it? Perhaps the world government has hidden the true name of these fruits on purpose as well. God God fruit perhaps? Always found it strange that Sengoku is a giant buddha but his fruit is also called the Human Human fruit.

The thing I LOVE about One Piece is that now that we're at the point in the series that we're starting to get some big answers to big questions we still have the biggest surprises over the horizon.
And since Oda kept our attention for 1000+chapters, he was able to set up so many story lines and let certain things marinate.
It feels like a dream that we are finally going from dripfeed of Shanks information and appearances to a constant river, and soon a waterfall in the Elbaf arc. I can’t imagine how it must feel as a 20 year reader.

What makes this even more compelling is that shanks protects Elbaf the land of the giants, in the bible Nephilim or GIANTS are essentially demi-gods born from an angel and human. If this theory bolds true this would make shanks in his own way a giant.
The theory does have a major hole in it though. If the CDs wrote Shanks off because he wasn't pure, then why does the fleet admiral and Gorosei make exceptions for him? Even Doffy was turned back when he tried to return to the holy land. It makes more sense that they didn't know Roger had him until he already spent many years as a pirate. So now they respect him as one of them from a distance as long as he doesn't break any of their taboos. Sengoku didn't end the war because Shanks is so badass, he stopped the war because a CD (Shanks) ordered him to.

He hasn’t formally stepped down, and I imagine you cannot revoke one’s celestial position for anything short of personally choosing to, since that would set a precedent most of them do not like (that their absolute power can be take away). They have to obey their rules and respect his heritage by letting him into mariejois and avoiding fights with him, but they don’t want him there, so they don’t ask for him back.

I really like this idea of Shanks being the child of two vastly different groups. It only adds more mystique to Shanks, and it's a great way of tying Rocks back into current events. Plus, Roger raising his greatest enemies child with Garp later raising Ace is a cool callback.
i dont think he was abandoned. As corazon said, pirates can't resist when they see a chest, the will always take it. Thats why i think shakns was placed in that chest deliberately, propably to escape from the destruction of the island.

It’s crazy how oda not only has foreshadowing in his conversations but also his scene and clothing choices, shanks as a baby being in a onesie that has sun, moon, and star shapes doesn’t seem like a regular throw away design, going based on the theory it would make sense he had sun, moon and star shapes all over his body given he’s a physical representation of what combining both of his lineages would look like, As well as giving way for why the elder (stars) would give council to either shanks himself or a possible twin we have yet to see outside of that meeting.

We even made many videos similar to this one explaining why Rocks is his father and how he married a Celestial Dragon which made him an even more dangerous criminal. It was also how he may have learned the importance about God Valley
The pirate chest IMO proves Shanks has pirate heritage as it is the most piratey thing aside from maybe a Jolly Roger. It's possible Xebec also tried to steal Shanks from the Celestial Dragon but I'm more confident it's a clue to his heritage.

I really like this theory. Ace took his mother's name instead of Rodger's, which could be the same here for Shanks as his mother would have to be a Figarland. This ties together nicely when you consider they wanted to erase Rock's name from history.
Now that I think about it, Shanks got his name from Roger (probably). That means he actually has another, true name. The one he was given at birth. Unless he had the name on his clothes or something.
This theory of Shanks D. Figarland sounds a bit like Game of Thrones: specifically Rocks is Rhaegar Targaryen, the unnamed Figarland woman is Lyanna Stark, and Shanks is Jon Snow. As well as Roger being Ned Stark 😉

Another supporting idea showing the possible parental contrast is that Rocks built a crew around all of the strongest pirates he could find. Meanwhile Shanks, outside of his main crew, has a bunch of famously weak allies that he protects with his reputation.
Ever since Whitebeard mentioned his scar to shanks, I’ve always thought he was referring to Rocks as the man who scarred him. Roger being the man makes no sense for many reasons with the biggest ones being
- why refer to him cryptically as ‘that bastard’ then to go on and reminisce about him fondly in the next panel?
- why would *Shanks* of all people remind him of Roger when Roger’s literal flesh and blood was his second division commander?
WB also goes on to name drop Roger, Garp and Sengoku. What do Whitebeard, Shanks, Roger, Garp and Sengoku have in common? All were present at god valley, and even though it doesn’t seem that Sengoku was there, he’s the only one in the series to actually explain what happened. And why would looking at Shanks’ face specifically remind him of the scar? Oda specifically wrote “face” (顔) in that panel, so it’s not like that was a liberty taken by any translators. Implies that the person who scared him looks like shanks. If we rule out Roger, who’s left that genuinely intimidated or at least posed a threat to Whitebeard? His former captain, one of the most violent men he’s ever known and _still_ resented even in Wano. Whitebeard cryptically warned Oden about how too many ambitious people can’t share a ship, saying he knows from experience. Obviously referring to Rocks and the crew. And as if we needed any more hints about how brutal Rocks is, *he* made Kaido’s top 5 threats along with Roger, WB, oden and Shanks. Over big mom and any marines.
All that always suggested to me that Shanks is related to Rocks and maybe his son. The introduction of Garling also still works anyway though if we assume Garling is Shanks uncle or something, they may still look very similar (Zoro and Ushimaru). So even if Garling was the one to scar Whitebeard, the resemblance could still be there
Love this idea. I’ve been saying for awhile now that once we fully understand Shank’s origins that some of the most significant context of the whole story will be delivered upon.

The main contrast between Dragon and Luffy is based around the concepts of freedom and binding responsibilities. Luffy strives to be the freest person and believes that’s what it means to be the pirate king, not bound by any higher authority figures or moral obligations. Dragon, on the other hand, while it may seem like he is also a free spirit at first, is more like his father Garp than he is like Luffy in that he is bound by a greater purpose of toppling the World Government, to which he has devoted his life. Garp also has devoted himself to his duties, except unlike Dragon he believes the best way forward is to work through the established system of the marines instead of overthrowing it, in spite of his disdain for the celestial dragons. Rocks was probably erased because of his ambition to become king of the world. If the public knew that such a strong guy like that accompanied by so many, even now, strong figures seemed to almost succeed in becoming king of the world, then there would be imitators. Whitebeard and Roger saying that their dreams were possible was enough to start and restart the golden age of pirates. If something looks possible, then people will rally around it. If Imu was revealed, then there would be no shortage of pirates attacking Marie Geoise and trying to take his spot.
i just realized something that might mean that Doflamingo is an Anti-Shanks. Not only celestial dragon turned pirate but also they have inspired others and have different treatment towards them (Bellamy & Luffy).
Im with the theory that Shanks is the Son of Rocks but im leaning more on the Rocks is the Celestial Dragon and not the mom. He must have thrown away his real Last name Figarland due to the digust, he had a relationship with a commoner and like you said it is taboo so that caused him to "wanting" to change the world causing him to become a pirate and waging war in God Valley. I actually think Roger probably told Shanks he was a CD, and thats part of the tears in the flashback. Shanks grew stronger and then went to go confront his lineage, reveals it to the WG, they confirm it, and now they have this tense relationship because Shanks has been someone that maintains the status quo for the most part, a useful gatekeeper. Thats now changed it seems.

I think the god valley incident was the rocks pirates went to god valley for a rio poneglpyh and was destroying the admirals,vice admirals and god knights but some god knights and admirals wasnt present at god valley i.e. sengoku, the roger pirates showed up also looking for the poneglpyh at god valley and only promised to help if they could get a copy of it, the WG begrudgingly agreed and thats why they are embarrassed to talk about it and covered it up as to them it seemed like many pirates besides the rocks pirates were catching onto the poneglpyhs, Rocks was particularly erased since he was from an era before roger that sought after the poneglpyhs first and roger wasnt erased since the WG didnt think roger could do anything with one poneglpyh that he cant read and gave roger clout as the pirate king when he found the one piece to give a reason to explain to the world why he had to be executed.
Now as far as shanks is concerned what of instead of having half rocks blood he had half nerona blood, so hes half nerona half figarland, it would explain why he was abandoned as everything surrounding imu is shrouded in the void or not knowing he exists and would explain why after Shanks stole the nika nika fruit that shanks still has the privilege of being a celestial dragon while the donquixotes were punished for less

I like this theory because of its connection with Blackbeard. Blackbeard and Shanks are rivals and will likely clash by the end of the story. If Shanks really is the son of Roxs then it’s humorous that Blackbeard, not Shanks, is the one that’s following in Rox’s footsteps and idolizes him.

its possible that Shanks was thought to be dead as the destruction of an island kinda has that vibe, but i do think that he is of normal person lineage as well as celestial dragon descent too. but my thoughts are that the mother was from west blue and was married that whole thing we know from Charlos that celestials take women from husbands and marry them regardless, so i think this happened she was kidnapped and made to have the baby of the celestial dragon, but at God Valley she took advantage of the chaos and put the baby inside the chest knowing a pirate would take it away from them. and as the island was destroyed they wouldn't see the need to give the baby back and raised him. by the time they (CD) realised it was already too late he was with pirates too long and didn't try to go near Roger because it was dangerous, that could have been what Roger told Shanks which made him cry & how he was able to know that his mother was from west blue so therefore he called it hometown so to speak. the CD knew he would find out and probably thought it would be best to give him certain liberties. this could have been a deciding factor in him becoming a Yonko cause that was only 6 years ago allegedly. otherwise he would have had a massive fight taking the spot from someone(unless the Yonko system was only created 6 years ago). but never has that been mentioned. it gives Shanks a lot of weight on both sides.

Celestial dragon would have killed him as a baby. Roger saving the baby is logical but Roger and Garp fought against someone who came for his baby is illogical. There is no way that happened. They would have allowed him rampaging through God valley and even helped him. I don't think Rocks was stupid person who simply wanted to kill all while risking his own child. The idea is inconsistent and full of holes.
not at all, from all the information we have abou rocks, he was the most violent, unreasonable and ruthless pirate ever, besides even in his crew they were not supportive of eachother ot the point there was no team behaviour , thats the mentality of their captain. So if anyone would private him to see his child or even kill his lover in an act of defiance, this man would be on horse back killing every single person he meets on that valley.
First point, maybe by abandoning it they thought they already dealt with the baby. Or maybe the mom actually hid the baby and they never found it, so that's not something that invalidates the theory at all.
Second point, maybe they never knew that was the reason of the invasion. Roger seems surprised to see a baby in a chest when he found Shanks. They may have seen a person way too strong with a bad rep destroying an island and simply went to take him down because he was causing way too much destruction in the middle of his quest.
Third point, Rocks does seems to be the kind of person that would do that. Specially against celestial dragons. That baby was probably his best shot at becoming "the king of the world". A baby celestial dragon with his blood might've been his plan at ascending to the point he wanted and they were taking him away from him. He might've rampaged to this island out of interest, and not love for his child and wife (?).

My question is if they abandoned baby Shank's for being a taint on their "pure blood" then why would they care about uta potentially holding the same blood. If anything that would make them want to kill her more because she is another taint on there image. Is possible that they decided to abandon baby shanks because they wanted to cover up Rocks. Something like if they bring to light that Rodgers has a baby celestial dragon. It would bring up the question of how he even got his hands all on one in the first place.

I think that's not the case because I feel like they would've hunted Shanks more actively if that was the case (after Roger's death, ofc). We saw what happens to a Celestial Dragon that also has D. blood in their veins. Cobra was killed because he had too much info, but Vivi is being hunted simply because they confirmed she is Nefertari D. Vivi. If he was confirmed Figarland D. Shanks I think they would've done the same. It's almost like if a person had both celestial dragon's blood and D. clan blood that person would have the will to destroy the World Government with the means to do so, and that's why they want to erase that possibility. But I still can't deny that it is in fact a good theory and would be pretty happy if it were to be true, I just don't believe in it yet.
God valley was a rescue mission for rocks to rescue his celestial wife that was going to be out to death
Yeah I like this theory.
I hope Buggy was the child of a slave. Like some random tribe of people that have nothing special about them except for red noses that the Celestial Dragons enslaved and turned into jesters. That would make it funny that the tribe's sole survivor fails upwards and turns the tables on their establishment leading to it's downfall.
Has anyone commented on shanks being found wearing suns and moons?
With luffy and dragon the contrast is that one commits his life to living free while the other binds himself to freeing others
The only thing I'm left wondering with this theory is why was Roger on God Valley and why did he sided with the marines. I mean, it could be as simple as a Luffy kind of thing, he arrived there by chance at that specific moment, he befriended someone and when Rocks went rampaging through the island he defended his friend homeland. But as valid as that would be it seems a little too simplistic.
Would Shanks choose his mother’s last name over his dad’s just like Ace? Figarland D. Shanks vs Rocks D. Shanks?
Also a similar story can play out for Luffy, where Dragon the revolutionary is actually the son in law of Garp

My theory -
I think the D. is a fallen Celestial Dragon family name. One of the initial 20 kings, who wanted a free world and didn't believe in what the rest of the World Government wanted to do. So they broke away, and over 800 years, their descendants include Trafalgar D. Water Law, Monkey D. Garp/Monkey D. Dragon, Monkey D. Luffy, etc. Rocks D. Xebec might've been one of the earliest descendants of the original 'D' Celestial Dragons, which is what that fight on God Valley might've been - to fight for his family's right to freedom. His ambition to be 'king of the world' rings different in this context. His family was mistreated, shunned and hunted - and he wants to destroy the existing hierarchy so that his family takes their place at the top of the chain (he's either a radical who has seen his family destroyed by the dragons, or actually a Luffy-esque freedom-loving free-spirited character, who just wanted the world to be free and was painted badly by the WG because duh).
Shanks is not a part of the D. family, but he descends from a different Celestial Dragon family.
BlackBeard is envious of these Celestial Dragon ties, and wants to ascend to the level of the Gods himself (he knows about the D. and Shanks history, but I'm not sure yet how. Perhaps the knowledge stored within the Yami Yami no Mi?).
I think the final climax will have the D. family finally achieve their true dream of abolishing the WG and placing a more liberal, free system in place - just like their ancestors wanted 800 years ago. And the One Piece is something which aids in that conquest - perhaps something that is a weakness of the current WG. Maybe a Devil Fruit, maybe a weapon, maybe information.
One thing's for sure - I CANNOT wait to see how Oda spins this. It's finally reaching its conclusion!

Maybe Rocks was told or found out or even assumed that his baby would be executed. And that's why he did all that. And then after battle Roger found Baby Shanks and put it together.. Or maybe Xebec asked Roger to raise Baby Shanks like Roger asked Garp for Ace.. Good thing Roger better at child-rearing than Garp 😂 Shanks would be a donut too by now!

Maybe the scene with Roger telling shanks before he was executed was him telling Shanks the truth behind his heritage, since he was raised aware of the D clan and celestial dragons from supposedly Roger. Makes Shanks reaction make sense, being told he has cursed blood for rocks too. Solid Theory 👍
If you look at the current Elders naming scheme, it follows the roman pantheon. I have this theory that the ancient kingdom all possessed Godlike devil fruits or perhaps the were actual Gods with latent special abilities (seems a very Oda like thing to symbolize humanity killing their Gods out of greed). The twenty kingdoms created the ancient weapons and used them to take their devil fruits for themselves or to just end their reign, or steal technology.
If they were in fact gods it would be pretty cool also if Nika, realizing their defeat, used their kingdoms immense technology to implant their lineage factors into Devil Fruits, almost sending themselves through time until they can beat the World Government and that's why the World Government was looking into creating them so much, because they knew it was possible. How Vegapunk talks about lineage factors is almost like how we know DNA in our real world. Eating a devil fruit changes a person's lineage factor/DNA to give them those abilites and Vegapunk also said Zoan type fruits were the only ones that can be produced artificially. Is it such a stretch to think that when a Zoan awakening happens, your DNA is identical to the gods themselves?
Just the name and the way the elders talk about the Hito Hito no mi made me wonder alot. "Human Human Fruit Model: Nika", the word model makes it seem like they were manufactured doesn't it? Perhaps the world government has hidden the true name of these fruits on purpose as well. God God fruit perhaps? Always found it strange that Sengoku is a giant buddha but his fruit is also called the Human Human fruit.

Rocks apparently wanted to kill random "innocent" celestial dragons whereas Shanks needs a VERY GOOD reason to kill somebody and even protects random weak people.
Rocks D Xebic is probably still alive.. I reckon he is in a prison/Dungeon on the same island as the Celestial Dragon, where their is noway too escape because of the powerful people and personal bodyguards of the Celestials located there
