My idea for why Shanks was in the chest - Garland put up his child as part of the bet (like a gamble - "I bet I can beat all of you! I'm so confident in fact, that I'll put up my own son as the prize for 1st place!") The Celestial Dragons take baby shanks, put him in the 1st place chest, but then the Rocks incident happened and, in the commotion, Roger got the 1st place chest without realizing there was the bay inside. Garland, for his part I imagine, was pissed but ultimately shrugged it off with the mindset of "I can make more".
I like to imagine that Shanks being found in a treasure chest is just how they treat all Celestial Dragon babies. Just letting them sleep on gold and jewels because they need to get used to that wealth or something.

The only thing we know about God Valley is what we heard from Sengoku, who said that Garp teamed up with Roger at God Valley to protect the Celestial Dragons, and more importantly, their slaves. If Rocks rolled up wanting to kill all of them, they could both be evil.
Do you think that Crocodile was a slave on God Valley? This would be his big secret and also how Ivanovo knows it. It also adds some context to why he wanted to become the pirate king. He saw Gol D Roger fight at God Valley.

Rocks may have not expected as much resistance as he ended up getting. It may have been a "resource raid" where he was there for the prizes, kill some of the CDs along the way, and free some of the slaves to join his crew. He may have not expected Roger to be there, nor as many of the Marines.
Doubt it. It's more likely he went to God Valley because he was aware of the event that the Celestial Dragons were doing & saw it as an opportunity to wipe them out. It is confirmed Rocks use to target the WG specifically.
One thing that's been bugging be about Roger's involvement in the God Valley incident, is that he supposedly reached Lodestar/Roadstar Island, the last island on the Grand Line, that same year. It makes me wonder which he reached first, but in a way, we can surmise from the likeliness. Unless they 1) had a reason and 2) could pass the Calm Belts to reach God Valley and then return to the Grand Line to finish their journey, they would've had to have reached Lodestar (possibly finding the All Blue where all Seas converge?) which allowed them to make their way to the West Blue (where we first hear rumor of the legend pop up btw). No one else seems to be trying to make sense of these two events, and I don't have a comprehensive enough understanding of events or lore to figure to out. I'd love to hear what others think!

I dont know the exact number of days in the One Piece world but it is certainly more than 100 days... So lets say Roger reached the last Island at the beginning of that year and realised he had to gather all 4 Road Porneglyphs and he happend to start his search in the West Blue... Imo that could explain things
I believe Dragon was a young marine and he helped free Kuma, Ivankov, Jinny. The celestial dragons were going to kill Dragon for being a traitor and Garp offered himself to save Dragon. Someway somehow Garp promised to take on Rocks to save Dragon. Roger being a friend to Garp same way Koby is to Luffy fought along side Garp in order to save Garps son Dragon.
You know, 20 years ago was when Bell-mere found Nami and Nojiko on an island which had been devistated "by a war". She immeditately quit the Marines right after as well. It fits with the every 3 year timeline. Could Bell-mere have seen the Hunt? Could Nami actually be a Celestial Dragon?
I have a feeling oda’s deceiving us into thinking garling is shanks’s dad. I think it’s more logical that his parents were people native to the island. In order to protect him from being slaughtered in the tournament, they might’ve hidden him in a treasure chest.
I don't live there, but i have been to Monument Valley. That was what you kept showing images of. It was also a popular place to film westerns back in the day. A lot of John Ford and Marion Morrison films were shot there.
Saturn takes note of Luffy's crew being cooperative when Franky did his save and the Rock's pirates were notorious for not being able to work together. I wonder if Saturn was in the war on God Valley and took advantage of that when battling Rocks.

I doubt that the gorosei would ok an invasion of either nation, both are military powerhouses with Yonko backing them up. But it's a good reason for Luffy to start a war

Something that’s interesting is that back in the day there was no good reason for rocks to be in the grand line. since he didn’t know that the one piece was there piracy was just equally lucrative everywhere. And then when roger revealed the big location of the one piece that when the grand line became the big important location.
The only issue with garling giving whitebeard the scar is the oden flashback. We don't see whitebeard initially with the scar and after the scuffle with the roger pirates it is implied he got the scar there based on the bandage. I wouldnt mind if they retconned this but it would still be a retcon

If they do these games every 3 years, then that would indicate that one of these games was held either during or just before the beginning of Luffy setting sail. This is because the God Valley incident was 38 years prior to the Egg Head incident. It also implies that there will be another one soon as the length of the journey they have taken so far (including the time skip) is approaching the three year mark. The next of these games is going to be one of, if not the final stage for one piece battles.

When you think about it, we haven't had a person revealed yet that was half "human" half celestial dragon. I got a feeling that the reason Shanks was in the treasure chest was because he was a prize. His father didn't care about him because his mother was a human, but he still had celestial blood which means that they couldn't just kill him off.

Maybe God Valley was the original homeland of the Figarland family before becoming Celestial Dragons. Then at some point the family that took over decided to break away from the world government.

I think Roger always wanted to be the pirate king and was threatened by how strong Rocks was so he just jumped on the opportunity to help his rival Garp take him out. I don't think it's some morality thing on Rogers part I just think it was an opportunistic move to take out his biggest competition. And obviously Garp was just called in because he was probably the strongest marine closest at the time when Rocks swoops in for whatever his plan is, presumably to take out the Celestial Dragons all at once so he can be the "king" of the world and not them.

Also no one from the west has the D initial - Why? There's so much more. The sun sets in the west, and rises in the east (with luffy, the new dawn, the sun god).
I was really hoping Fisher Tiger attacking Mary Geoise was going to be on that time line. Would explain why he was able to sneak in so well, attack successfully and none of the God's Knights going after him. Fisher Tiger would know these killings would go on, and take advantage of the fact the Celestial Dragons being away to rescue most of the slaves.
I know that, it being on the timeline after the events of God Valley doesn't change anything. It's under the impression that even after God Valley, the Celestial Dragons would still be holding these killings every 3 years.@@mabellyndon5321
The major theme for egghead and god valley will be no matter how strong you are, you need allies and a crew that works together. It’s why Kid and Law failed who respectively had no allies, we’ll see Rocks was strong but his crew will betray each other, and why Saturn commented on Franky saving his captain despite the overwhelming enemy.

What if this was the “great cleansing” the gorosei & imu were referring to.. if it’s supposed to be next year in the OP world, that could be why imu is so eager to use the mother flame weapon and just skip straight to the eradication. Hmm 🤔
I feel like the treasure chest rewards for the competition at god valley is gunna be some of the most iconic Devil fruits ever. My ideas are the Phoenix fruit, the buddha fruit, kaidos fruit, DRAGONS fruit, Nika Nika fruit, and my favorite guess…. The paw paw fruit. I think everyone is gunna take a fruit at different times during the chaos. And to top it off, I believe someone is gunna see a baby shanks, try to take him to ransom off later, but ends up finding the chests. They see they are all empty BUT ONE!!! it has the Nika fruit and they think it’s gunna be worth more than a baby celestial dragon and leave shanks in the same chest the fruit was in. This comes with soo much symbolism. -Shanks being left in the chest of the df he was searching for later on in the story. - rodger and his crew surviving the battle and hoping to get a reward from one of the chests to find shanks in there instead. Perhaps rodger knew the Nika fruit was there and knew it was important. -kuma I feel HAS to get his df from god valley after everything he went though there. It MUST be in one of those chests. Only thing that doesn't add up is why did roger(and his crew) help garp? If rock's crew was there to kill celestial dragons and no one is touching the slaves. Why would roger go out and save celestial dragons while putting his crew in danger. Did rock's do something just more than trying to kill celestial dragon?

Maybe it was un-ripe when Roger found it, and its now waiting for someone to pick it and it will turn their "Desire" into a fruit power. The big space laser takes 3 years to recharge, it was used to clean up after the tournament. After god valley the tournament was stopped but laser was still consistently used to eliminate islands. The recharge is why it wasnt used for ohara. Isnt the reverie every 3 years? And right after the reverie, the laser was used again. The mother flame from vegapunk would let them use the laser without the 3 year recharge
Buccaneer race are the 3rd and final race big Mom was referring to as 3 races outstanding in totland, chances are there are no more pure blooded buccaneers, lunarians only one left king and lola messed up the marriage which would have sealed the alliance with the giants

Tekking you're really fixated on garling being garlic aha! Shanks is a ham shank then? I thought garling figarland together sounds closer to a garland which to be exact is a circular or spiral arrangement of intertwined material (such as flowers or leaves)
Imo Rocks was a good guy (just because WG says he was the worst) and maybe even he wanted to free the slaves, Dragon saw how awful Celestial Dragons were and couldn't stand that Garp helped them, and that's what pushed him to become a revolutionary.
The final war will be the yonkos kaido, big mom, shanks, buggy lol, plus King of the pirates Luffy vs WG 5 gorosei plus IM luffy makes alliance of former enemies.

I was really hoping Fisher Tiger attacking Mary Geoise was going to be on that time line. Would explain why he was able to sneak in so well, attack successfully and none of the God's Knights going after him. Fisher Tiger would know these killings would go on, and take advantage of the fact the Celestial Dragons being away to rescue most of the slaves.

I feel like the treasure chest rewards for the competition at god valley is gunna be some of the most iconic Devil fruits ever.
My ideas are the Phoenix fruit, the buddha fruit, kaidos fruit, DRAGONS fruit, Nika Nika fruit, and my favorite guess…. The paw paw fruit.
I think everyone is gunna take a fruit at different times during the chaos.
And to top it off, I believe someone is gunna see a baby shanks, try to take him to ransom off later, but ends up finding the chests. They see they are all empty BUT ONE!!! it has the Nika fruit and they think it’s gunna be worth more than a baby celestial dragon and leave shanks in the same chest the fruit was in.
This comes with soo much symbolism.
-Shanks being left in the chest of the df he was searching for later on in the story.
- rodger and his crew surviving the battle and hoping to get a reward from one of the chests to find shanks in there instead. Perhaps rodger knew the Nika fruit was there and knew it was important.

Only thing that doesn't add up is why did roger(and his crew) help garp? If rock's crew was there to kill celestial dragons and no one is touching the slaves. Why would roger go out and save celestial dragons while putting his crew in danger. Did rock's do something just more than trying to kill celestial dragon?

The big space laser takes 3 years to recharge, it was used to clean up after the tournament. After god valley the tournament was stopped but laser was still consistently used to eliminate islands. The recharge is why it wasnt used for ohara.
