Caravana did this and sold alot of cars ahead of getting the title. So many consumers waiting months for the title or getting the wrong car/title. No one got arrested at Carvana. because you can't arrest a corporation.

Fun fact: Corporations are made up of people that are criminally responsible for said corporation. There's literally no such thing as a corporation without at least 1 human that is named as the responsible party.

Actually Craig isn't smart enough to know what's going on.This isn't about title delays ,or just waiting on a title and selling the car first. This is about money not being be paid paid off. It's a Ponzi scheme in the works.
Not siding with Carvana ,but it's a different scenario

I bought a clean 1 owner high mileage trade in. Had to wait over a month for a lien release because the bank he had it financed through doesn’t clear online and never sent him a lien release although it was payed off for 4 years. Same thing. Was told i cant buy it because the title with lien release had to be submitted within 10 days.

Private party title jumping is a huge issue.
Unsuspecting buyers can potentially be purchasing a vehicle from someone who is not authorized to sell it.
Say the actual owner is out of town, in the hospital etc, upon their return they contact law enforcement about a "stolen vehicle".
Now the new owner is in a lot of trouble.
I've never bought a title jumped vehicle.

I don't know how NH is but, when I did Finance in Illinois we had the Illinois Secretary of State Police. All they did was drive to dealers and do Tax Form and Temp Tag Audits. It was a fine if they weren't voided properly or you couldn't account for them. They would also go to customers' houses and pay a visit if they wouldn't produce a title within I think 60 days. The one that was for our district was a total 10 so, I never minded her stopping by!

This happened to me twice in the last few years. I bought a used Toyota Tacoma from a dealer in Austin, TX about 3 yrs ago. It took about 3 months to get title and that was after I complained to the state. Dealer claimed title was held up by the auction. The 2nd time was buying a new jeep from a dealer in Castle Rock, CO. They had the jeep transferred from another dealer in the state. They claimed the other dealer lost the title and the had to get a new one issued. Both times, the dealers kept issuing new paper tags each time they expired even tho state law says it’s illegal to issue additional paper tags. I would’ve enjoyed seeing someone arrested but I guess TX and CO don’t do that

My lot always passed inspection other than maybe faded ink on a price sticker from the car sitting too long. Craig is awesome, but I wish he would have spent more time explaining why this law exists. The reason the State takes the absence of titles seriously is because if a dealership takes a customer's money and doesn't give them a title, then the dealer has not conveyed ownership to that customer. Without a title, the car (which the customer just traded a lot of their money for) is worthless to the customer. That is basic consumer fraud. I can tell you from experience that customers were very attracted to the cars I had marked, "Not ready for Sale" (if I did not have a title). I'm sure Craig knows exactly what I'm talking about, regarding that. People want to buy what they cannot have.

That makes alot of sense and I know of atleast one of the dealers on there. Last year I bought an Impala to fix up from a dealer in Manchester, NH and they told me the title would mailed out and be there in a week. A week went by and no title. I had one of the managers contact me through email following up. Let him know everything went well overall but still didn't have the title yet. The car was drivable at that time so I was playing the hurry up and wait game. He was cool and got it overnighted to me the next day. I'll admit I would have been rather pissed if I got everything fixed and waited on the title. I can see the mistakes but it would be wrecking with peoples livelihoods.

In my opinion, title jumping is the root of the problem here. Craig waves it off as a common practice, and dealers may legally title jump in some states, but it’s a crime everywhere if an individual does it. If dealers didn’t jump titles as a standard operating procedure, there would never be a reason to bust a state title transfer deadline. I won’t buy a car with an open title - I assume all the risk as a buyer.

Where I live I can go and buy a car and own it at the same day, just some mouse clicking and typing on the computer from the dealership or private person required.

  • @dlessard2369
    @dlessard2369 4 місяці тому

It's called Jumping titles! This has been going on for many decades where you buy a vehicle from XYZ and have them leave the title open by just signing in the seller name and leaving rest of the title blank. In N.H., Arizona and a few other states where there is no sale tax is not as big of a deal to do this correctly by signing the title over to an individual having them get a new title in there name, ect for less then $100.00. Otherwise this could cost you in lets say Massachusetts or any other state that has sales tax for the same vehicle over several thousand $ where you have to pay sale tax only to get a new title in your name to resell.
Anyone on the first 5 vehicles can do this then the state will require you to apply for a use car dealer license, dealers Insurance coverage, a Surety Bond where it varies from state to state as to the amount needed in your state. There other expenses in getting a Use Dealers Tag to buy and sell as many vehicles you want to sell in a year.

Hi Craig of Flying Wheels all that you explained about the title issue are what you should be asking the Troopers about to get a clear answer from them because i see how it can hamper you from sales and then put you in trouble with the said law that does not take in account the delays in the issuing of titles if for any reason it goes against normal operations i have learnt a lot looking at your show keep up the good work

Just buy some Not For Sale placards and put them on the inside windshield until the title comes in.

I just paid cash for a 2018 Silverado LT Z71 crew cab. The dealer took a loss on it as he had it for over 8 months. He showed me what he paid for it and then he paid to transport it from VA to PA so it has no rust. kind of high miles. 148k miles. New transmission on carfax at 110k, new oil pump at 140k. I got it for 15k cash plus tax, tags, transfer. and the dealer paid like almost 18k for it plus transporting it to PA. It looks like that white one you have there but yours looks like a double cab.

I remember from prior videos you guys are talking about how cars need to be inspected and you guys have to sell cars cheap without inspections. In Iowa we don’t have to deal with that a lot of these cars at auctions and your videos. In Iowa they would be ready to run for several miles we use rust as weight reduction also I want to add that many of the car crashes in our state are not because the car was mechanically deficient it’s driver error

Not much sympathy here. I'm 80 and I've owned about 60 autos in my life time, the majority used when bought. I bought one car from a used car dealer early on who severely screwed me so I never bought another one from a used car dealer.

Private party only and long time owner not a flipper. It's much easier to get a deal from someone that doesn't want something anymore that from someone selling specifically to make a profit!

@@carlgruver695 The car was a 69 SS 396 Chevelle bought in 1974. It looked great and the price was full retail or higher. It ran great too or appeared to. A valve was clicking a little but that engine had adjustable rocker arms so I wasn't too concerned about that. This was in NC where cars don't rust. After buying it I tried to adjust the clicking valve and found out that a camshaft lobe was worn off almost completely, the lifter was worn into the fluid chamber and it was working as a solid lifter. The car was from Maryland and had serious rust issues underneath. The dealer would not help at all on the expense of the camshaft and lifters replacement. So yeah I got cheated. I have bought several used cars from new car dealers and got ripped off once. I have had good luck buying from individuals.

How can you not know which vehicles have titles, etc ?
Each vehicle is a PROFIT CENTER
Profit Center: A unit of an organization that generates both revenue and expenses. Its goal is to have revenue exceed expenses.
You have a folder that lives with each vehicle (PROFIT CENTER)
It contains a summary of where it came from and its cost (expense)
It contains a summary of everything tha touches the vehicle - parts, labor, time spent on it, marketing cost, ads, etc (expense)
It contains a photocopy of every person that has test driven it
    It contains the title
    Treat it like the military
NOTHING TOUCHES THE VEHICLE UNLESS IT IS LOGGED
    25 vehicles = 25 folders
Every vehicle is also listed in a spreadsheet, specifically to track titles
Vehicles without titles have a YELLOW background and are sorted to appear at the top to make it easy to follow up on any problems
Vehicles with titles in house have a GREEN background
Vehicles without titles have a tiny YELLOW sticker on the windshield
Vehicles with titles have a tiny GREEN sticker on the windshield
A box of folders and 1 spreadsheet.
I saw your previous money video. You already know this.
    Please explain

10 Days is stupid. We have 30 in Idaho. What happens if you have it floored? Why aren't the banks held to the same standards as well when handling titles. If a dealer gets in trouble for not having a title a bank should as well for holding it for an excessive amount of time.

I traded in a car with a balance the dealer was to pay off. Well he screwed up and forgot to pay it off and my former lender put me out for collections because the payments were missed. It messed up my credit rating for six months until I threatened to Sue the dealer who then called the credit bureau to get it straightened out. Oh by the way he sold the car with out a title a got a large fine from the state. Lesson here ,make sure you check that dealer really pays off old loan!
