Coming from Liverpool you should have known or guessed to fit the new style diff seals according to “red = port (left)” and “green = starboard (right)” …. but you bottled it ! 😊
Being a fellow scouser who has not lived there for over 50 years, it was to fun to hear the accent again. I applaud you on your knowledge of motors. If I am ever in Liverpool again, I will keep a lookout for a black and/or red roller corniche. 👍
Just a thought when winding in the oil seal with a vice try using a couple of pieces of aluminum plate on the vice jaws just to protect the oil seal. A fabulous video so pleased the red one fired up, looking forward to the next installment. Thank you.
Hello, Back in 1971, when I was 12, my uncle bought a new 71 Silver Shadow, black sides, and a beige top, black vynil top. I think he said the paint was called Sand over sable. I remember riding with him and his family from Palm Springs to LA, to buy it. It was an absolutely gorgeous car. And the leather interior was beautiful and smelled so nice. When I was 15 he taught me to drive with it, and at 16 I took my driving test at the DMV with it. I would help him hand wax it about every 3 months. He sold the car in 1978 , and I believe it had about 50.000 miles on it. He sure loved that car, it still looked brand new in and out. He had misgivings about letting it go, but had his eye on a new Porsche. And so he did trade it in. I sure do hope its still around and owned by someone who loves it. If its still here in Southern California, theres a good chance it is. Great guy my uncle, and great memories of his beautiful ROLLS.

Impressed -- always, Gary -- how well versed you are across a whole litany of things from mechanical, electrical, body/paint, upholstery, brakes, etc. Black Corniche looks stunning once more and even though red is not my color, looking forward to see the other corniche come back to life, ready to both drive and impress along the way. Thanks for putting all of this on video,
Just found your channel Gary. I really like where you take the time to film with the camera static wherever possible. I have a SAAB 900SE but nowadays as soon as I pick up a spanner I can hear all the bolts tighten so any work now is left to a trusted specialist. You clearly have so much knowledge and expertise and good knees! You spend so much time showing us layouts and parts from the floor. Don't know how you do it?!. Keep up the good work.. Love the Rollers!
I‘m chuffed that you got the red Corniche running again! Now, just paint it Willow Gold, and you‘ll be a happy camper! Thanks for the lovely upload, and Merry Christmas to you! Happy motoring!🌲🥂❤️😊
Can’t believe I’m sat on a balcony overlooking the ocean in Koh Samui and excited to see there is a new episode. It’s still raining worse than our city, gods own city, Lpool.
14 years or 16years off the road - not used at all, yet fired up as soon as fuel was delivered, no nasty mechanical noises or issues to be alarmed about , you’ve got to give theses cars credit , Rolls Royce knew what they were doing . Now just gently on their way.
Okay, your "office chair" would run about $5k here in Canada. I can't imagine what your living-room set looks like, lol. That wingback should be next to a stone fireplace and a side table with a decanter of scotch. Great videos!
What size is your garage? I’m amazed at the work you get done in the garage without a ramp. You hear so many saying you need this and that, to get things done and you put them to shame. Happy Christmas
The red one looks as if it has a lot of potential. Does this mean having to fabricate another soft top? You did an incredible job on the other one. Good to see you back where you belong - in the UK!
Always a joy seeing you working Gary I saved to see your video on christmas day, and what a good day it was. All your knowledge wiil stay here for ever. Just waiting for the new vídeo
Another great video Gary. I'm always impressed with the quality of your workmanship. Your paintwork especially on the black corniche would put a lot of bodyshops in the shade. Now we are in 2024 I wish you a very Happy New Year. From Geoff
What I'd like to know is who is doing your camera work, whoever it is, he/she is a great asset to you videography. Brings a professional touch to your videos!
The credits for the camera woman are at the end of each video. She's amazing with the shots and angles she gets throughout Gary's videos. Takes this channel to paramount status.
Excellent video I loved it, the smoothest V8 I’ve ever experienced is the engine in a Lexus LS 430 and amazing piece of engineering in my humble opinion.
hey gary - Great to see you grinning like a cheshire cat when the Rolls fired up ! These motors are just amazing .....The Black Corniche is looking absolutely splendind but cant believe that its been bumped again !! Looking forward to seeing the Series 2 take shape in future episodes . Merry Christmas from George & Stew
Thanks Jon! If you’re new to the channel there’s a lot more to catch up on with varied, interesting cars to keep you busy!! Appreciate it and thanks for watching!
I love old Rollers, especially the corniche but they are totally ridiculous to own unless you have unlimited cash to burn to keep them running. Nice save👍👍 well done.
so loving all your videos Gary, I've restored a few classic S1 Land Rovers and Austin 7's in the past (with simple mechanicals!) and now own a Corniche Convertible which does not require any restoration, but does need maintaining and Ive been a little scared to get too involved, but your Videos are giving me a lot of confidence, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. I will be really interested to see the dashboard coming together on the Red Corniche..
Very pleased to see you put mineral oil in the system and NOT 363 brake fluid. Expensive mistakes were often made especially when the SZ Spirit / Mulsanne range hit the markets. Twin SU's carbs were the proven way to go with this era of cars in my opinion and surprised when they change for just a short run of cars.
Runs so well after all that time. The handed seals need the shaft rotation pushing the oil back so easy to see the flutes are either guiding inwards or outwards like a lhd or rhd screw thread.
My uncle had one of these new in about 1970. He was known as the magician because he was the best five pound note forger in the UK! from Brockley, south London. He used the car at my brothers wedding.
Hi Gary, I honestly think your vids are exceptionally high standards , you actually make it look easy to work on,no matter what you are doing . Keep it up and more subscribers will appear 👍Well done you 👌👌👌
Really enjoy these videos, might get me inspired to work on mine. Have a question: do you know of anyone who makes wiring harnesses for older Rolls Royces? I have a 1980 Silver Wraith ll that is in need. Cheers, Doug
Gary lovely videos, detailed and informative. I have a question if I may, is the 2 pack base and clear you are using not contain isocyanate as you are using a mask without forced air?
No. The isocyanate was taken out from 2k a few years ago I believe. It’s all dangerous as we know and after all, we only get one set of lungs to last us through life. I know that only too well losing both my parents to the dreaded mesothelioma. Regsrds
Those slightly dull rear tail lights can be improved. Simply put them in the dish washer and make sure you have rinse aide, then look for the sparkle when you put them back on, as good as new!
Just about the finest one-man restoration shop there is!
Totally agreed! He's amazing with his talents.
refreshing to watch a real mechanic. No drama No trauma.

Absolutely superb Gary, you are super talented and a really top bloke. Love watching your videos, keep up the great work !
I once had the opportunity to work at the rolls Royce factory 🏭 in crewe and like you all the workers treated each car as though it was special 😊
A time when people took pride in their work and really cared about the end product.
Such a pleasure to watch and learn. Greetings from across the pond in St Augustine Florida USA.

It wouldn't happen with some of the fuel around now = it turns to jelly and gums up the fuel pump.
