Is this shower going to change my mind on the Bristan brand….. watch and see what I think…. Honest genuine view on a company’s products that I have previously not liked……. But as always this is REAL WORLD PLUMBING Get subscribed to the channel and help me get to 40k by the end of the year….
Squeaky bum time with that toilet, no leaks. Very tight getting the feed connected. Those tile drill bits work a treat, I’m on my second set. Great work again Mark, well done. REAL WORLD PLUMBING rocks 😊
Thanks for that, Mark. To be fair, Bristan stuff seems pretty decent for the price, especially now they’ve given up on electric showers. It was just the customer service where they really shat in the bidet. I’ll bet that sawn off warranty has ended up costing more than it ever saved them.
Funny how all plumbers and chippies on here.. hold a spirit-level vertically ... And say " let's get that nice and level; and mark it "... whereas.. "plumb" is vertical .. "Level" is horizontal ... Best wishes from an old school Bricklayer (retired yrs back)
Another fiddly toilet Mark to be fair the Bristan shower looks good quality you had no choice but to fit it as it was supplied by the customer but would you have supplied and fitted it ?
Ok maybe I’m missing something, why not just buy a longer cold feed pipe and connect that first using locktite 55 string then connect the soil (old and disgusting looking and visible) and then push back....? The cistern is at an odd angle to the pan and wall, looks tipping forward? Did anyone flush out/inhibit, that old refitted towel rail……? Ok shout out the ❤for the 2/4 holes rubber seal, not to split the tile🙈care and attention and common sense. Bristan, don’t know why the previous hating… but sound like they were a bit hastily slated (“workman and tools rtfm”). Shower screen are a mare both to clean and now I see to fit alone….why not get lighter?! Thankyou for this vd. I’ve liked and subscribed and hope to do my first ( mini project) swap out refresh, shower toilet and sink, tiles for walls and flooring (not tiles on floor, engineered planks with extra, as want 1stfloor access incase of future leaks) when my new (old) house buy comes through. I’m old I’m decrepit I’m a female but I’m keen!👍🏻❤
Thanks the video mate. 👍🏻 I've fitted a few of those Bristan mixers with the iso valves. Like you, I like the idea but not really sure I understand the point. But it's for the customer I guess. Did you ever go back to the basin feeds or didn't you bother in the end?
Very informative video as always, would it work if you put the pan connector on the pan first then slide it into position, I’m not a plumber but interested as I’m renovating a house at the moment 👍👍
Hi Mark, another great looking bathroom there. Remember with the bristan problem, even if the product is ok to install etc, the warranty is the thing that lets you down. It’s states two years but they try to worm their way out of it if any problems occur ?????? Have a great week and as always take care, regards Chris. 👍👍👍
Hi Chris, just to confirm our Bar Mixer Showers have a 5 year warranty which includes 1 year labour and 5 years parts. We're always happy to help with any issue you may face, please get in touch!
Haha been there with shower screens had one a while ago we where putting a massive screen in a bathroom but it was pre fabricated in December in a cold unit and it just randomly exploded without hitting it we could only think that our body heat and the -5 weather did it pain in the ass when it happens
Great movie Mark. You’ll be having nightmares about that toilet pan leaking 😂. That shower screen looked heavy, I could see you struggling with it. Great job done 🙂👍
If that was a back to wall toilet in an upstairs bathroom it's crying time when you see it and praying time when you test it... horrible jobs to do...the side entry pan screws are another bloody nightmare having to lift toilet up and connect pan connection is a nitemare
As always a fantastic job , hope u don’t mind me adding but been watching a utube video from stud pack there currently doing a bathroom where the cistern is in the wall and a hanging pan, thought u might find it interesting mark , thks again and stay safe and well, Gary
Will you be able to easily swap the shower mixer for another valve when it goes wrong a little after the guarantee runs out with using those unusual isolating valves🤔
@@MJTiffPlumbingnot sure about the isolation valves on the shower valve, unless you know there there you could be none the wiser, also can see them leaking if they even see a slotted screwdriver🫣😬
Excellent informative video as usual Mark!! Not in the trade, but did a 2yr plumbing course 15 yrs ago. Just refurbed my bathroom, took about 6 wks as work f/time and some fittings were delayed. I had a few 'moments' re leaks and an issue when i could only squeeze a couple of tissues between floorboards and new bath waste as new bath was deeper. Coulnt take out bath to cut hole in hoards for waste as already used CT1 around edge .... I didnt put the bath panel on for weeks afterwards as i kept checking for leaks and if the waste started touching the floor! With battening around the bath no movement and seems ok few months down the line 😅
Ive had nothing but great experience from Bristan. Any warranty claim has been sorted no problem, Also Franke taps and sinks.. Top service from both. Definitely worth paying a little bit extra .
Such a poor job of connecting toilet always bin the plastic through bolts, if over tightened they can eventually snap and flood, stainless steel ones won’t and pan can be removed without fully draining, also a longer flex pipe and the filler valve can be fitted before pushing back, i also always use filler valve with brass shank, you never use pipe wrench on plastic ones again too much strain on thread
Not a port job at all mate, it’s perfectly fine. Can’t use a longer flexi if you look at the distance I had to work in… a good tradesperson will of seen that. No problem using a wrench on plastic if you know what you’re doing…. As seen in the video…
Always use full bore isolators plus a decent mixer valve with a proper chamber for a top shower experience. Those tiny ones are a good match for that crap bar shower mixer though - absolute rubbish. But many customers haven't got a clue, so hey-ho! I try and educate them as to the principles so they don't buy this crap.
Let me know as soon as you find an alternative to them knepex waste pipe cutters i feel so let down by the brand on these.....Have you had them cutting in spirals on you ??
Great video as always. Deffo tight toilet that one. Well done as for shower glass do you put any faith in them glass suction handles or have you had a bad experience with them 👍👍

Well done Mark showing you fitting that glass shower screen that looked heavy and awkward you made it all look easy
Thanks mate… always fiddly
Thanks for that, Mark. To be fair, Bristan stuff seems pretty decent for the price, especially now they’ve given up on electric showers. It was just the customer service where they really shat in the bidet. I’ll bet that sawn off warranty has ended up costing more than it ever saved them.
Completely agree mate……
Those pipe cutters are terrible, you need to get the knipex dp50. Best thing for cutting waste pipes
So bad ain’t they
Would be intresting to see what the flow was like coming out of the shower heads ?
Didn’t film that as I had just sealed up the screen…. It was very good👍🏼
@@MJTiffPlumbing thats good 😊
Hi mark . Im fitting the same screen tomorow diy style . Is it right to only silicon the outside ?
Yes mate just the external upright and clear along the bottom
Thanks Mark I'm shitting myself about it. Its for my son 🤣🤣@@MJTiffPlumbing
Any shower screen/enclosure is only sealed on the outside.

HHahah very good point that 👍🏼👍🏼
A 500mm flexible hose would have helped?
Not on this one mate, no room for the connection parts of that to work alongside the bend
Another fiddly toilet Mark to be fair the Bristan shower looks good quality you had no choice but to fit it as it was supplied by the customer but would you have supplied and fitted it ?
Well that’s a very good question……. Tbh after fitting that I may supply and fit another if need be
👍

always hand ✋ access
and isolation valves (for showers - anyone got any Tips or ideas 🤔
Completely agree

Thanks for your comment….the soil pipe is the issue, not the cold feed😉
Thanks the video mate. 👍🏻

Thanks mate…… customer wasn’t too bothered with them as I asked
Is the floor tiled ? It looks like your just screwing straight down to the floor for the L brackets , and it’s blowing my mind 😂
Not tiled mate, tile style boarding
Very informative video as always, would it work if you put the pan connector on the pan first then slide it into position, I’m not a plumber but interested as I’m renovating a house at the moment 👍👍
Thanks mate…. Sometimes it works that way and sometimes it doesn’t…. Trial and error
Thank you for useful tips & tricks. Do you come to south of London? :)
Thanks mate…. Unfortunately not but know some very good guys that was if you need anything
Them shower iso's 100% gonna leak 1st time you want to rely on them!
Hopefully not

Was it a Bristan electric shower you had justified issues with?
Yes it was…. And now Bristan do not sell electric showers anymore
Checking that toilet numerous times 'Plumbers Anxiety '🥴😂 lol,I've been there lots of times, good video
Thanks mate… we’ve all done it
I always say - "just keep your eye on it for a few days" They never do!! 🤣
😱😂😂😂😂 New Bristol rep😂😂😂 love the video keep it up with me I swear a lot not pc
Hahaha thanks mate
Bristan nooooooo
Hahahahahah yep
Good video. I always solder caps on shower pipes. Then the holes around the pipe will be closer….
Good point that 👍🏼👍🏼
Or turn off water pull caps off fit tiles and replace afterwards

Scary stuff mate
Great movie Mark. You’ll be having nightmares about that toilet pan leaking 😂. That shower screen looked heavy, I could see you struggling with it. Great job done 🙂👍
Yep it was bloody heavy and awkward mate
Glass suckers are great for the larger shower screens 👍🏽
Yep I had mine in the van aswell and forgot 🤣🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
Nice work Mark
Cheers Terry 👍🏼👍🏼
Glad am not the only one with the toilet problems 😭
They can be a right pain sometimes

Agree with all that Jim👌🏼👌🏼
rubber seal probably also helps with people not over tightening and cracking the the tile.
Very good point

Brilliant video Mark. I'm starting a plumbing course tomorrow and I'm looking forward to it!
Oh brilliant mate….. let me know how it’s going
@@MJTiffPlumbing will do mate
I've fitted a few of those shower valves, and they seem okay. No weight in them anymore, so won't get much scrap when weighing them in.
Hahaha good point
Did you silicone the screen to the shower tray as you did not mention it, but as usual great video
Yep as always a clear head of silicone along the front edge and up
Hi mark im subscribed but dont usually comment. Youre a top man all the best to you and the family 💚
Thanks Jake… really Appriciate the comment mate…. Glad you enjoy the channel
good stuff Mark. Do you use any silicone around the shower screen or is it designed to not need any?
External silicone on these mate
Plumbing in this situation is all about feel !
100% mate
How did you get a spanner onto that flexi on the toilet you barely got your arm up to thread it on!
Very very small adjustables mate… and a lot of luck
Putting the awkward toilets in your almost waiting for it to leak I find 😂bloody things!! Great watch as per mate 👌
Yep….. not if but when
That's a nice bit of tiling, great colour👍🏼
Looks great
Squeaky bum time when you do your first full flush . I always test 5 or 6 times before I’m satisfied .
Yep… always 🤣🤣
5 or 6 flushes, then a dump for the final test for me.

Not if you had a warrenty claim after 1 year on an electric shower from them….😉
I say the same thing about drywall.
Hahaha…. Always something
Hi mate. Where the link for those tile bits?
Just added into description….. I forgot 🤣🤣
Nice job treat yourself tp some suction cup glass carriers there a god send
I have a set in the van however always find the way they feel when lifting a bit off putting….. how do you find them?
@MJTiffPlumbing ye pretty good first few times is nerve racking but we use them all the time fitting double glazed unit and they can be really heavy

Yep new one on me aswell….. but very handy if they work ok in years to come
Great video as always Mark,

Thanks Tony🙌🏼🙌🏼
Good guarantee on that Bristan Mark 😂
We will see….🤣
Top tip; Get yourself a suction lifter for those big screens. Job must have been bad, it's made your hair fall out.
Hair went 20years ago 🤣🤣….. and the suction cups I left in the van🤣🤦🏻♂️
you're like me Mark i've had that many leaks from pan connectors that it's now effecting my mental health 🤪🤪🤪

4:11, I use two screws also but I use penny washers between screw and bracket so the screw doesn't suck in to plastic
