Greetings George, i have a question about the gibbon calls... / when the male gibbons do not become alpha males, i read that they then become solitary, and alone. Therefore... do the calls of the group gibbons differ from the calls and songs of the solitary gibbon? ( it reminds me of a Taoist Mountain Recluse...) maybe this is also a difference between species of gibbons. Maybe some are monogamous while others just have basically the one alpha male with his female horde. And the other males must be alone. It's fascinating to me....
@@mandys1505 Thanks so much for the generous tip, Mandy! I don't know enough about the various gibbons species and their social structure but I agree it's a fascinating topic. In case it helps, these are Müeller's gibbon (Hylobates muelleri).
@@GeorgeVlad Oh cool :D Thanks, George; I'll look it up and see if some males make different calls when living in solitude.....must be interesting if they do
Man, your channel is awesome. I dream of going to places like this and just sit in silence and record. Your videos take me closer to these places, thank you!
This sound bring back my memories when i was kid...i live in land of borneo Sarawak😊😊 but now im move to kuala lumpur...i miss this kind of sound...so relaxing..may i know which place you record this sound Sir?
I never perform noise reduction on my soundscape recordings because it is very easy to notice it and it tends to suck the life out of the ambience. There were a few planes during the day and very occasional distant traffic. This is why I like to record for 24 to 48 hours at a time so I have enough material to work with.
I've heard similar calls in several parts of Africa too. I think it's an easy way for certain species to make themselves heard so they evolved these calls separately in a convergent way.
An absolutely STUNNING SOUNDTRACK. I love your rainforest sounds, they are absolutely amazing!
Thanks for listening AJ
Wonderful, it's like all those animals are making a music composition together :)!
Exactly my thoughts, Hafdis!
I didn't know that gibbons could sound so adorable.❤
They do indeed!
This brings back memories of my Sabah trip... One of the most memorable.. thanks for this masterpiece

Ya! masterpiece!
Thank you for this. Spent time in the rainforests of Borneo and these sounds always bring it back for me
My pleasure, happy to hear that Lauren.

Most welcome 😊 This was recorded at Maliau Basin.
Beautiful! Did you have to remove some background noise or wasn't there any? There probably aren't many planes in that area I guess :)

@@GeorgeVlad thanks. do you have a video where you show us how you edit your material in post?
Amazing recording! What is the siren-like sound that starts around 16-minute mark and can be heard the most around 18 minutes?
Those are some species of cicada that regularly call at dawn and dusk.

👏👏👏👏👏
Wow, one of these sounds is SO similar to something I heard camping in Bolivia.... bird or new world monkey? Sounds like a timebomb ticking off.
I've heard similar calls in several parts of Africa too. I think it's an easy way for certain species to make themselves heard so they evolved these calls separately in a convergent way.
@@GeorgeVlad a likely hypothesis. thanks for sharing these soundscapes with us!
