Wild Amazon - Rainforest soundscape

  • What do the remotest parts of the Amazon rainforest sound like? The soundscape is incredibly lush, diverse and immersive, even on a hot afternoon when humidity is almost 100%. The insect chorus is constant and piercing - cicadas, crickets, flies, bees, wasps, beetles and many others are constantly making noise. The bigger ones sound like miniature (or full size) engines at times. The small ones that get close to you might be looking for blood.
    The birds are a bit lazier during the day but their calls can be heard echoing on the rainforest floor, from various distances and elevations. Toucans, pihas, macaws, parakeets, antbirds and scores of other species form a beautiful and talented ensemble. Sometimes mammals join them too, if not with calls then with movement in the canopy and water.
    Lastly, non-living things also make sounds. Fruit falls from the trees on the ground or in the water. The river itself is a living being, making pleasant flowing sounds all the time. Soft wind and humidity dripping from vegetation can sometimes be heard. Every once in a while, a big branch will break and drop from a tree making a lot of noise.
    Recorded with Sony PCM D100 and Clippy EM172 microphones in Madre de Dios region, Peru. Enjoying the videos I upload on here? Feel free to support me by:

      I spent 2 weeks there, as well! Specifically the Marañón River for an Aya journey. I listen to this track to take me back to the experience. Love the Jungle! It’s such an amazing biodiverse, place.

      @@GeorgeVlad If only branches! :D When I was in Adolfo Ducke reserve, it was trees that were falling down regularly. We heard the noise each 1.5-2 hours, and one tree fell right near us. This actually made me think how big this factor could be in Amazon ecology, comparing to SEA where there the rate isn't so high. Of course, some selection bias might be in place.

    Hello, Firstly, Amazing work!
    I am writing a flute album currently with handcrafted flutes I have made. I was wondering about the copywrite and if i bought your amazon soundscapes from your website would I be able to use it in the background of some of my flute music?

    Was that a gunshot at 59:32?

    • @GeorgeVlad
      @GeorgeVlad  2 роки тому

      It sounds a bit like one but that was a branch breaking off from a tree and falling to the ground. This happens much more often in the rainforest than you would think.
