CORRECTION: The mashbill of Parker’s Heritage 10 year rye is 51% rye, 35% corn, and 14% malted barley. We review so much bourbon that I forgot to change the banner template.
I was just checking the mashbill requirements before I saw this comment...I saw the banner and my brain screeched to a halt and said that ain't no rye at those numbers. I have been wanting to pick up a bottle of the JD Barrel Strength Rye but haven't yet.
JDSBBP Rye. If I see one on the shelf I buy it. Easily one of the most delicious and interesting whiskeys out there. And that price! Bottle for bottle this gives ECBP a run for its money as the best valve in whiskey. I like how this video had some twists and turns. I couldn’t tell which was which until till you reveled them. I don’t know about the singing tho…
Not being a huge Rye fan and have been on the fence about trying the JD SB Rye,but the honeysuckle spice note totally sold me…. Thanks for another outstanding whiskey tube video! Cheers
JDSBBP Rye is my current favorite pour. I am not a JD guy. I tried this because I trusted videos like yours. Going to the distillery soon to get a few more bottles.
@@Ona1000 Personally I am not a huge bourbon/rye fan outside of cocktails. Both Scotch and Irish whiskey are my preference for sipping neat, but Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Barrel Proof Tennessee Whiskey is an exception, I think it is a world-class sipper (with some added water to my tastes). When I visited Jack Daniel's, I got to sample their standard Single Barrel Rye and was blown away, so I'd imagine the barrel proof version of their rye is also a world-class whiskey.
@@bobczarnecki6097 Awesome! I'm in Chattanooga and believe it or not the first bottle and only I have of the SiB Rye BP I had to drive to the distillery to get lol. It is great but I desperately want the Coy Hill but probably won't ever see a bottle.
Thank you for recommending the Nashville crab bottle!!! We crushed it in ATL but today I sipped it and OMG!!! Is so sweet and delicious! I know this comment has nothing to do w the video but I wanted to thank you for taking time to give me recommendations!!! Thank you both!
I’m happy to see this outcome, I wasn’t able to grab a Parker’s Rye from last year, but did acquire three different JDBP SiB Rye’s and I love each one for different reasons. So I’m not sad 😂.
4:53 I can relate. I'm 30 and whenever I say something that sounds "old" I have to tell people I was raised by people born in the 30s. I can't help it 😂
100% JDSBBP RYE is the best out there got several bunkered ranging from 130 - 133 still looking for higher proof. Good luck for Matt maddness. Great channel Godspeed
Josh, that's a good Foreigner song, but the best version of it I ever heard was back in the 80s by - IIRC - the New Jersey Mass Choir. In fact, that tape was the first place I heard the song. 🙂 7:57 "Alone together" reminds me of when George Thorogood sang, "You know when I drink alone, I prefer to be by myself." 😂🥃 17:33 I don't even try to keep up with what who's saying. I say things my way, and if that doesn't fit the latest trend, so what? 🙂
Just cracked a four roses barrel proof oesk... and despite being the lower rye mashbill... its the closest thing I've tasted to the jdsb rye. I doubt it's quite as good... and its more pricey at 110ish, but worth a try if you're a fan of the jack.
I’ll never get a Parker’s but I’ll agree that the JD SBBP rye is a fantastic pour. However if you’re sick I found the flavor goes way off I drank a JD BP rye and it tasted like horseradish luckily I like horseradish but it was strange getting that note. Has since gone back to what it was when I drank it previously. Which is spicy and herbal and vanilla. One of my favorite rye’s.
I’ve got two bottles of JDSBBP at 135.2 proof. One of my absolute favorite ryes. I’ve been on the hunt for it for about 18 months now. I’ve only seen it where I live (for a reasonable price) one time. Luckily I work in another state, so I’ve been fortunate to get it there. Also got the JD heritage twice barreled rye there. Now I have to compare those blind. Great stuff (and whiskey) as always.
Spent a month trying to find a 140proof bottle of this... Never did. But I have a couple different 136proof bottles. But on vacation, after a blind tasting (at a bourbon club: Watch Hill Proper), they poured us this just cause the host liked it so well.. And it was 139.8... It was So DAMN GOOD.
Yup - JD SBBP Rye is stellar. They have NAILED the mashbill which I think is about 70% rye - it's unique and absolutely killer and I drink tons of Sagamore, Michter's, other other rye offerings. I tell my whiskey group - "all rye roads lead to JD SBBP....."
For anyone who wasn't on the last live, there is now a drinking game, where a shot is taken whenever Erin sings... problematic if you're watching this while working in the a.m......
How is the Parker’s labeled as a rye? Is the small print on the screen wrong?? 51 corn/35 rye/14 malted barley would make it a bourbon no?? Nevermind!! Saw the correction!!
The rye. The bourbon mashbill is very good but the rye is exceptional. Rye matures faster than bourbon in general, and at the ages that Jack releases these single barrels, the rye definitely feels a bit more well-rounded.
i love when hype loses out to regular old bottles. suck on that, Taters. and for the record, the single barrel barrel proof rye is ABSURDLY good and probably the best rye in my bar as well. Very close to the OF SiB BP Rye, and I think it's actually slightly better.
Some of the single barrels can be quite hot. Always helpful to add a little water to tame things down if that's the case until you get it to the perfect sipping point for yourself.
That's a great impression of yourself, "Thanks I practice 😂😂😂. Jack Daniels are always unique but they have such an overwhelming banana and for some reason I think they give me a little bit of a headache. I think all whiskey companies should use good quality water not tap water when they are making bourbon. Or really any other whiskey. When you can smell chlorine there probably is chlorine in there
How do you mean? We've since tried these non-blind and the results were the same. I think blinds "don't work" when there's no quality control to the process, but as long as the person doing the blind makes sure their palate isn't out of whack before the blind, there's really no better way to remove the bias of labels and hype.

Came for the blind stayed for the singing!
Erin, your manifest restraint at about 7:40 was at once admirable and entertaining.
7:31 IDK how Josh kept a straight face through all that
JD SiB BP for the money is extremely tough to beat. I could drink that and EC C923 for the rest of my life and be content.
100% agreement here!

I wasn’t a JD guy until I started trying their “better” offerings. Now JD is my favorite distillery

Did you make it back to Jack? Interested in knowing what is in the shelf at their bottle shop right now.
I did make to the distillery. I currently own 6 bottles. Love the variety of single barriers. This bottle is finally a shelf bottle in Wisconsin !

JDSBBP Rye is absolutely untouchable! Parker's is very good but can't compete. Great video.
“Close but clear”. I love this! Gonna pick up the JD SBBP some day very soon.

I always carry 2 handkerchiefs. One for using, if necessary, one for loaning. My wife always appreciated that.
You guys just crack me up. Seriously, actually laugh out loud.

I did a side by side today with that JD Sib BP and 13th Colony Southern Rye it was fun too I wish it was a blind though
Just got JDSBBP Rye since it's hard to find in Central Cal and was like wow. Such a great pour for the price.
I’ll never get a Parker’s but I’ll agree that the JD SBBP rye is a fantastic pour. Totally agree that JDSBBP Rye is amazing. I have a store pick and three shelfers currently opened. Cheers!

Michter’s Barrel Strength Rye beats the normal JD SBBP releases. That special BP rye release beats everything tho.
Have a chance to get a bottle of a store pick of the Jack Daniels SBBP Rye and now I really need to get it before gone. Cheers 🥃
you guys are the best on utube
This episode was wild. Loved it.
As soon as Josh said "I want to know what love is" Erin would break into Foreigner.

Godspeed to all who attempt this feat. 😂
I'm waiting for you guys to go full in on a blind tasting and karaoke format for future content.
That bottle “slaps” 😂 you young souls
Great blind! Have you tried The cask strength ry3? I had a chance to try a pick of the ry3 against the JD and I liked the ry3 even more. Thanks🥃
We haven't tried that RY3 but have heard good things about what they're doing.
How is the Parker’s labeled as a rye? Is the small print on the screen wrong?? 51 corn/35 rye/14 malted barley would make it a bourbon no??

Do you prefer the JDBP rye Or JDBP bourbon more often ?
The rye. The bourbon mashbill is very good but the rye is exceptional. Rye matures faster than bourbon in general, and at the ages that Jack releases these single barrels, the rye definitely feels a bit more well-rounded.
Please make this a standing opening bit!
JDSBBP rye is next level
Josh is on an 80's kick, and its great!!!
"pool water up the nose"...just what I am looking for in my whiskey!
😂 😂
Those JD SBBPs are soooo good. Rye or bourbon

My daughters would say that JD ate it up!
Wow wow wow. Cold open for the win!
Is that a White Rabbit JDBPR?
Standard shelfer from a store in Knoxville but we've got one direct from JD as well.
Best intro 😂
Great, now we won’t be able to get JD SBBF rye! 😂😢😂
They're making a boatload of it thankfully!
Wait a minute...a rye is by definition at least 51% rye. Parker's Heritage 10 is a bourbon right?
oh just saw your correction...nevermind
Thanks for watching! 🥃
Kids today would say “W Rye” 😂
Ummm... i might prefer the sound of silence.
When I have the JDSBBP Rye, th heat overwhelms the flavor, so it's not my jam.
Some of the single barrels can be quite hot. Always helpful to add a little water to tame things down if that's the case until you get it to the perfect sipping point for yourself.
@@stuffandwhiskey I can see that. I still have half a sample. I’ll add a little to get actually get to the flavor

Josh lead singer …ummm…nope! 😘
100% accurate. NOBODY wants that to happen.
Yes, "the breast rye". Honey of the gods.
