This is also called the spb185 for anyone interested. I was debating between getting this and the spb143. It was very close but since i could only get one or the other, i settled for the spb143. Reason this one didnt win for me was the red on the seconds hand, the 4 oclock crown location, and the mix of circles and bars indices. Great review. Thanks for sharing.
Whilst i think I’ll get an SBDC125 - Rob you just prompted me to get a SKX (I’ve been lazy not grabbing one) so i just bought a Pepsi bezel J model. Thanks for the reminder 🙏
I built a $280~ watch using a SBDC125 case and AM dial / hands and NH35 ... I picked the Dial-Maker Blue wave dial.. looks very nice... the aluminum(?) bezel insert is prone to scratching however.. in fact the one in the review has a scratch at 11:55 looks like... mine picked up a scratch at about 12:03
Nice review, Rob. Just going by appearance, think I like the sbdc061 with glossy bezel or padi spb087 with mix blue lume better. But who knows what happens when they're tried on.
I am not a Seiko fan. Not at all. But, that's not a bad looking watch. Love the bezel and it's a nice looking chase. I'll give Seiko some credit for this one. Good job.
Over a thousand bucks and they still can't sign the crown! Nice watch though. Very reminiscent to a Tudor Black Bay Steel, which is a watch I am very keen to own.
The earlier mm200 feels much nicer and of higher quality in hand to me. Mainly because it has a really nice bracelet. The design of the mm200r is better though. Hands are nicer etc. i would like a watch that feels like the old mm200 and looks like the mm200r lol.

2:14 - why is it so hard for seiko to align hour and minute hand...for some reason they can do it on 5kx but not on 1000$+ watch. I saw one at my local AD with same issue...such a shame for great watch.
Man that lume is a disappointment. I own an SLA021J Marinemaster and was thinking of selling it and picking one of these up since it's a bit more slim and trim in size. After seeing that lume shot, I dont know if I can downsize or not.
No, they don’t guarantee timekeeping in single figures until you get into GS I don’t think. Most of them are fine but it’s still a bit of a gamble as I’ve had a great watch (spb143) that was +16sod and two dozen others that have been under 9spd. They’re not too hard to regulate yourself but ultimately the movements are just average.
Will they ever make a NEW watch? If they’re gonna keep upping the prices, give us new designs! It seems like it’s either a re-issue or another marine master!

The MM200 reduced is a lot better looking than the SKX. Even if the SKX is iconic, it looks somewhat goofy.

The 8L movement is so much nicer. The crown movement is great. I wish seiko would put it in more watches.
The arrow hands are definitely better on the new model

its a nice watch but Seikos are getting expensive and they increased the price but not the QC and they haven't made the bracelets and clasps better.

Most Seiko are pressed, not gonna take it apart to check.
I've never heard of pressed in markers. Does the previous model have applied markers or pressed in?
They have been doing pressed for long time

Reduced as in its smaller then the first “mm200” that came out, can’t call it the steel master as there are other models.
