    Commanders, now we're talking! Next to revolvers the 1911 and Commanders are my favorites.My very 1st handgun was a Colt Combat Commander in satin nickel. Some will say the Commander is too heavy for carry compared to the plastic guns but, I never felt that way. They are a timeless classic. Thanks for the video.

      +Bob Kopchik Great to hear from you Bob...I have no problems with my lt. shoulder carry at all with the bigger guns or while out at the ranch in my Mitch Rosen.

    Great review! Those Smith scandium pistols and revolver are scary light especially the 44mag.
    Thanks for sharing.

      +The Green Man The 30 ounce is just fine but going down to the 12 ounce or so .357 Scancium revolver just will not work for me. I barely can tolerate the 13 ounce LCR38. Thanks for viewing and commenting.

    That S&W is really nice. A little pricey for my budget but it looked like a great gun.

      +MrBulletpoints It really is but there are a lot a really good options out there for a better price. Thanks for viewing an commenting.

    FYI ----- I have several different ProMag magazines and all work great.
    Cannot go wrong ordering ProMag's via CheaperThanDirt.
    Very reasonable prices.

    Hi there. Thinking about this SW 1911SC model but my concern is that it may be snappier (or more recoil) due to the lighter weight scandium frame. What are your thoughts?

    I have the 1911 bug at the moment. I'm trying to decide between the Ruger SR1911 and the Springfield mil-spec. Decisions decisions!

      +GrapeApeFTW Both great. I really like my SR1911. Great shooter and Ruger stayed pretty true to the overall Colt structure with some great upgrades. Thanks for viewing and commenting.

    Excellent video. How is the finish quality on the Ruger compared to the Smith? I've looked at the Smith 1911's and they appear to have really good attention given to the fit and finish from the factory.

      +arcflashed The Smith Scandium is finished nicer for sure. I do not know about double price nicer. I really like my SR1911 and look forward shooting the aluminum frame SR1911. Thanks for viewing and commenting.

      +RealGuysReviews Do both of these 1911's have the Colt style guide rod spring assembly? I have a Kimber that is a very nice gun but it has the full length guide rod. I like the Colt style much better.

    • @RealGuysReviews
      @RealGuysReviews  8 років тому +1

      They went with the full length rod in the Smith and Ruger stayed true to Colt with their rod. Basiclly Ruger stayed true to most of the Colt design except for the few things as the firing pin that I noted. Thanks for viewing.

    Very Nice ! These are the 2 -1911s I am considering buying. I like the Smith scandium commander except for that blasted full length guide, and the takedown process it mandates. I wish you would have spoken or shown that. I would gladly pay the 1250.00 for the bobtail scandium Smith over the 750.00 for the lightweight aluminum Ruger which doesn't have the bobtail grip. (If it wasn't for that guide/takedown system). As of now I am leaning toward Ruger. This will be my 1st 1911 and after a few hundred rounds of breaking in. it will probably just reside on my nightstand. But who knows I may get a leather shoulder holster and carry someday. Both beautiful guns, both great companies. Thanks for the comparison Real Guys Reviews

    Have you considered dealing with CheaperThanDirt for larger 1911 magazines.
    ProMag has 10 round and 15 round magazines available. I currently have one
    of each ordered and on the way !

    You didn't mention if there was a difference in the felt recoil between the 2 pistols. Being all steel did the Ruger SR1911 CMD have less of a recoil?

    • @RealGuysReviews
      @RealGuysReviews  8 років тому +2

      +R Fulton Right ..I actually was having so much fun that I forgot. The recoil difference was minimal if any. When you get up over 30 ounces loaded, it they all seem to handle the recoil really nicely. I now want to get my hands on the SR1911 aluminum frame. Thanks for viewing and commenting.

    I've not had much dealings with the 1911. Not sure why. Any crappie in that pool? Here in NE Texas we once had jackrabbits, horned toads, roadrunners and ground squirrel. The jackrabbits and road runners have came back but no horned toads and ground squirrel.
    Never did get that cap.
