Good job on this review. I recently picked up a E-Series Engraved and it is a very good 1911 by S&W. The Engraved surpassed my expectations so I have a full size Performance Center 1911 on order. Thanks for all the work you put into your reviews. Beretta Sr.
Their engraved E-Series 1911's are certainly eye candy. I'll be interested in hearing what your thoughts are on the full-size Performance Center when it arrives.
I will always has a soft spot for s&w 1911's. The craftsmanship has surpassed kimber in my opinion. Can't wait to own my very own in a quality leather holster.
Excellent review! I purchased this gun because of your review. I have been shooying for 40 years and I've owned and fired hundreds of handguns. This SW 1911 is the best gun I've ever owned! It was love at first sight and my first trip to the range was like the first time I...…..well you know. Thanks again for the review!
I love the grips! I just got my new Smith and Wesson 1911 PC commander. I don't care for the stock grip color. Where did you get the cocobolo grips for this gun?
I bought mine used, not sure why anyone would sell there's but i'm glad they did $500 off MSRP I love mine and carry it often. I put G!0 starburst pattern with mag thumb cutout on it
Here is a link for the grips: www.ebay.com/itm/1911-Grip-Full-Size-Red-Cocobolo-Carry-Cut-Ranger-Cut-Ambi-Cut-/252206572792?hash=item3ab8aee4f8:g:irUAAOSwLVZVk-ny
Now that S & W light weight Commander is one more awesome gun and the high quality video is over the top... Meaning I drooled through the entire video Mr. One. I must add the change from the G-10 grips highlights both the class and quality of such a beautiful gun maker work of art...
I own the government pc model and I love it. If they made this bobtail version in 9mm I’d buy it in a heartbeat. I’ll most likely end up with the dan wesson v-bob if I can save up the money before they all disappear.
@@Icarryone yeah 45 just to big and slow, Carry Speer gold dots +p in mine...1220fps! 11rds of those is More than enough to stop a threat! And being a 9mm there's no recoil making the gun so accurate you can't miss!! Literally!! Love mines, just prefer it over my 45cal Sig 1911 carry
Pretty late but looking for a 1911 and was wondering, is a Dan Wesson Vigil or Valor a lot better than this? I would like to get the best bang for my buck and consistency. Should I wait to find a Dan Wesson?
This performance center 1911 is certainly a quality 1911 - as are those made by Dan Wesson. I own both - but what it would really come down to is your personal preference and budget.
Icarryone My budget is pretty open right now, not looking to spend over $2500. I plan on carrying this as an CCW because people from Mass arent so gun friendly. Im hoping I dont run into problems with whatever gun I choose to go with. Thank you for the insight!
OK. The Galco Miami Classic holster hurts my neck. I have an Andrew's Monarch in the works. I really like my PC model (as shown here) and you can usually find it a bit CHEAPER than the standard model on gunbroker.
Noice. I dig it. I'm looking for a good first carry gun and I like it. Other than the stock grips it's a great gun. I like the wood one's your wife picked up. So? Is this a 45. like most 1911's or is this a oddball? I think this may work well with a chest rig under the shoulder type holster I was looking at.
This is a great pistol. I own this firearm and I couldn't agree more with your assessments. I dare say it's "almost" as good as my Ed Brown Kobra Carry LW 🤗Awesome channel
I have mine sitting on the computer table. I do like the wood grips on yours. The only things I would do differently would be better smoothing inside the slide, mine shows machining marks. I'd offer a version without the "lightening cuts" and offer a version with night sights. As soon as my Galco Miami Classic 2 holster comes in (this week?) mine will be carried again at least until winter is over. I have found it much, much easier to put the Briley bushing onto the barrel with the barrel out of the slide and then reassemble. It seems awkward but that's the only way I could get the weapon back together on the first try.
+PotatoGunsRule The "E" class version of this pistol comes without the lightning cuts or Briley bushing. To me it's a little odd that the less expensive E class comes with night sights - you would think it would be the other way around concerning the sights.
I know the lower end version doesn't have the lightening (it's "lightening" not "lightning" since it's for weight reduction not natural electricity. LOL) cuts or Briley bushing but I wish the PC model had an option to keep the extra tight fitting, Briley bushing, and drop the cuts. I actually got my coat cuff caught in my lightening cuts once! OMGosh, thank goodness no one saw that. :-O I've been thinking about getting a camera and actually doing a torture test on mine, seeing if dropping it into the mud, sand, grass, etc, would actually cause a fail due to those openings.
I have the E series version and love it. I recently put G10 crimson trace grips on it. the grips on your wife's PC look like they are intended for a bob cut instead of a round butt, but still looks like a good fit.
Humm the more I look at it I want one. All the other reviews I could find on it are all positive too. Think I'll pick one up. Thanks for the review help me decide.
Of the 40 or more reviews on this gun, yours is by far the most informative and useful. Thank you!
Thanks Michael.
That thing is beautiful
I think so too.

Absolutely a gorgeous gun! Beautiful gun and a very nice review. :-)
It shoots every bit as good as it looks.

best review of this gun
Thanks - I do try.
Thanks - you've helped me decide on which S&W 1911 to purchase next.
Glad to be of help Bob.
I carry one, was my 50th Birthday present time myself! Awesome CCW and a serious tack driver, highly recommend it!🇺🇸
Happy birthday!
I love the grips! I just got my new Smith and Wesson 1911 PC commander. I don't care for the stock grip color. Where did you get the cocobolo grips for this gun?
These are from Fusion Firearms. Bob cut / Ranger style checkering.
I bought mine used, not sure why anyone would sell there's but i'm glad they did $500 off MSRP I love mine and carry it often. I put G!0 starburst pattern with mag thumb cutout on it
Excellent find.
I'm thinking more test by someone other then you and your wife is in order ... address on it's way .... :-)
+ebomey I'll send it "Fred"-Ex. He prefers back door deliveries.
+Icarryone Perfect .. lubing up!

Nice gun 14 hundred dollars well close to 15 with tax and the check
Yep, there about.
Hi , excellent review on the 1911 bobtail pc.I ordered one after your review. One question were can I get the cocobola grips?

Excellent photography, well written narration, thoughtful and detailed analysis. What a pro!
Thank you kindly Nick.
First class video. You sure convinced me!
It shoots as good as it looks too.
Your wife has excellent taste
I think so too!
Very cohesive and thorough review. Nice job.
Thank you Greg.

+Steve Hughey I totally agree.
No night sights for a carry gun?
I make it a point to stay away from dark alleys.
Steel and wood can not be beat.
Agreed.
Where did you get the aftermarket grips from? Great Review!
+Josh Fitchpatrick She bought the grips on ebay. Thanks for watching Josh.
I want those coca-bola grips. I have a collection of 1911 grips lol.
+mrsquishyboots She said you can't have them.
They are beautiful and I would love to put a set on my 1911 Smith and Wesson PC. Where did you get them?
So much want. Damn.
👍🤠
Sir, are there "Commander"-sized 10mm?
Yes, they do. The RIA 10mm Commander is very popular.
@@Icarryone, Thank You, Sir.
Your wife has great taste in 1911s. This looks like the custom 1911i am building in my head...grips included.
Nice!
👍🤠
Nice!! I had My PC 1911 45 for a year now.
Good choice!
@@Icarryone Thanks Bro and Likewise.

I really like my DW 9mm V-Bob.
I have the PC 1911 in the 5" barrel model, Ive been on the fence with this one (Its Brother) Those Grips look nice on this model..!!!
If you're thinking about this one, it would be money well spent.
Nice looking pistol... I'll take my Springfield range officer elite Champion over any other carry 1911 9mm..
Nothing wrong with a 9mm 1911. This one is chambered in .45acp and it packs a bit more punch than a nine.

The E-Series Commander is an excellent handgun.
Extremely good video Sir, and those grips look amazing!

Where did you get the grips they look great
My wife found these on EBay.
VERYGOOD VERYGOOD
@THAILAND
Thanks!
Wife must have some man hands with those thick grips
The grips are actually quite thin. That aside, she doesn't have hands the size of a child either.
Great video.....as always......thanks
My pleasure Chris.
Nice gun & great looking grips
Excellent shooter too.
Wow naman ang sw nice
Good shooter too.
The fuck? It's a carry gun...without Night sights of any sort...don't you feel ripped off in the slightest?
Nope. I sorta make it a habit of not loitering in dark places.

It's everything it should be.
Beautiful pistol seems like a great serious lightweight purse gun for women easier to carry less printing in a holster with the bobtail.
Do the g10 grips not come standard anymore?
+Juan Perez-Gun Fanatic Yes, they still do. You must have missed the part about removing the factory G10 grips in the video.
Special Sale Price at Cabelas. Actually cheaper than E Series.
Very cool!
Nice review Gunny! Thanks!
That's one 1911 that shoots as good as it looks.
Just received mine very happy with it shoots smooth, trigger is one of the best.
Excellent!

Hi , I tried that link but doesn't seem to work.
Try the one in the description box. Both work fine for me.

They work for her.
They look nice too. much better than the original orange G10's
Those grips look just fantastic on it
Yes, much better than the factory grips.
@@Icarryone did you cut/trim the top portion of the grip on the right side by the safety? i checked the link on ebay and they sell "NO AMBI CUT".
I stuck with the moderate looking but very functional factory grips
I share your taste in guns. I really enjoy getting your opinion. 👍
Thank you - I appreciate that.
Especially the 10mm pistols
This is a damn nice looking 1911 - I'm really not liking that white lettering on it though. (check at 4.51) It really ruins the looks of the gun.

what grips are those
Cocobolo wood - can't recall what company manufactures them.
Icarryone thank you for the quick response anyways
a thing of beauty
+Dubglock23 It sure is.
Do you think this S&W Commander has tighter tolerances over the Colt Wiley Clapp Tailo Commander ? :>)
I couldn't say, Frank. Never had the opportunity to compare them side by side.
Yes it is tighter I have both guns.
