We're guitar people man, there's no need to explain yourself. We are just as crazy about accumulating guitar stuff with no REAL need for it. Just a strong want for it lol. Lets see what you got and don't feel weird about it.
24:37 Back in the Summer of 1977 I was 15 years old and mowing lawns like a madman, I was able to save up enough to purchase a brand new Gibson Les Paul Deluxe. Cost with case was $585, the music store knocked $200 off that price when I traded in my 1975 Fender Mustang. Lots of nice guitars and amps Sir, thank you for sharing with us all the tools of your trade. I wish I still had that '77 Les Paul Deluxe, I do however still own and use the the Twin Reverb amplifier I purchased in 1976!
The economy has been so bad the last few years I thought I’d never be able to get quality guitar. I’m hopeful now I’ll be able to get an awesome guitar!! Great video guys
You can also check with zzounds. You can make monthly payments on a good guitar with no credit check. You will wind up paying more for the guitar than you would if you bought it straight out. A good guitar would be around $100 or so a month give or take. Im paying for an SG through them now and i have bought several guitars and ALOT of equipment through them that way.
The cherry LP double cutaway is the coolest, imo... My first guitar was a 1968 Melody Maker in the SG shape (also came in a double-cut LP shape). Previous owner stuck an American flag decal on the back which was worn out in a cool way. Got it when I was 16 (1977) at Al Nalli Music in Ann Arbor- I think it was $200- and it got stolen a year later. Sad! Would love to have that one back.
I’ve been subscribed to your channel for a while now and always enjoy the content you know your stuff Alex and it shows you are passionate about it 👍 Great personal collection Happy new year to you and your great team 😊
Recently discovered your channel and subscribed. I really enjoy your videos and your general vibe of you and the whole crew (chill and informative without any dumb gimmicks/click bait). Beginner bass player here but love seeing all the guitars too.
I loved this video, I had a lot of fun with the photos and anecdotes 🤣. I think you have an interesting collection because of the stories behind each guitar. Thanks for sharing a part of your daily life, greetings!
+1 shoutout DGD +1 "Ol' Smoothie" style pickup on the 'Ray (would love to try a triple single coil Big Al someday) +1 for proving yet again that sometimes the only way to improve some guitars is to "reset" the headstock lol I really enjoy my old Starfield Cabriolet LTD and I also want more semi-hollow guitars now. There's a few floating around as they tend not to get snapped up as fast because they don't really come up for less than a kbuck+ like other Starfields. Finally got a play an LTD Eclipse and it's really nothing like a LP but I did enjoy it as a new to me type of single cut. Next time in Japan keep an eye open for 80's Ibanez/Aria/Alvarez/[sub brand] flame/birdseye maple, koa, and occasionally walnut acoustics - not well known and to be fair/honest zilch for resale but you can find something you'll never want to sell for a couple/few bills (and it's a deep mine to dig in, they just keep coming available - if I had more room I'd own more).
Thanks for showing us your collection Alex. I also love Specials and Juniors. I Have a 96 Gibson Les Paul Special in Cherry. Would love a video about them. Great entertaining content as always.
Cool collection man 🤙 I love Gibson Specials too, LP’s & SG’s but I just gravitate towards the SG’s more because of their light weight and fret access.
A man after my own heart. I too love the Les Paul JR's and Specials in the Double Cutaways. I treasure my 2007 Gibson Guitar of the Week #41 Double Cut Nashville JR in Satin White. As the expression goes, 'take care of the ones you love'. Nice set of axes you have there.
Ya that’s a lota sgs and jrs but damn good ones to boot. If I had the type of business you have I’m sure I’d have a boat load of guitars and amps all over the place too. Actually I have quite a lot of gear and it is spread across town in a few places. I should probably do an inventory but probably won’t. lol… anyway nice collection you have, out does mine by miles. All my stuff is low budget or partscasters that I built or assembled and just about everything has been modified in one way or another. Thanks for the tour.
I'm right there w you on the JR wagon. I recently acquired 3 and I think i may have an acute case of G.A.S.! 😂 Love your collection! Please do an episode or 13 on the jr.'s.
I love the Japanese Fenders. You have some nice ones. Just an observation, but have you noticed a lot of your guitars are black and white? Sometimes we don’t notice what we gravitate towards until we see them all at once.
Love seeing all your guitars. I didn't take it as showing off or anything a man showing his guitars. That's all it was. You do have some very nice guitars coming from a man that has one. You got a couple telecasters there I'd love to get my hands on. Thanks for showing! Them to us
HAPPY NEW YEAR 2025 to you sir. Make 2025 the year you complete your collection with a Rickenbacker 12 string. Every collection needs an electric 12 string guitar. And is that a Juno 6/60 I spy in the keyboard rack at 14:21? Fond memories of having one of those back when they were brand new. Cheers from the Land Down Under - where we are always at least 13 hours into the future of you guys there on continental USA.
I had that Telecaster Delux same color and all way way back. It it is the suckiest guitar I ever owned very front heavy so you had to support it from not tipping forward to the point that it was impossible to play it relaxed. I love Fender guitars but not that one lol. I think it was in the late 70 early 80 ies (I forgot) or so in a guitar store called Italienska Musik (Italien Music) in Malmoe Sweden that I bought it. I traded it in for a Guild acoustic (steelstring) in the same store which I then sold down in the south of Germany (in a town I forgot the name of) when the money had run low while a friend and I was out hitch hiking. That is how it can go lol.
You should keep one of or both of the Vintage Yamaha acoustics you have for sale on Reverb. I'm sure they are great! I would love to purchase them, but unfortunately, the CAD is crap and the shipping price is insane in order to get it across the border to my location. 😞
@@stevebernard221 more than understand! And yes, love those Yamaha acoustics! I always enjoy spending some time with them when they come through the shop
I have what is now an inexpensive acoustic guitar, but my Yamaha FG-340T sounds amazing for 45 years and actually sounds better now!. It is the guitar I've had the longest and it's been though some stuff! Lol
@@HoneydewOz haha! I enjoy the wrap around bridges as well, but the tune-o-matic just allows for more precise intonation. The proper vintage wrap around ones also go for a lot more than the versions I have so that helps too 😂
It’s kinda of sad you have to give the disclaimer that nothing sits in cases and you use it all. Social media commenters are insane with jealousy over that stuff. “How dare you own several high end guitars”. “Every single guitar should be played all day everyday”! Otherwise you’re a hoarder and driving up prices!” Btw my $160 Harley Benton beats everything you own” 😂

I bought a bunch of guitars since the pandemic hit, unemployment rate is super low so plenty of jobs. Just gotta work and save.
@ that's the best answer. If you can save and buy something outright it's always a better choice than to take on debt to obtain something.
The economy is will never be good for you
You have no concept for how the economy is doing

I love the look of the Ernie Ball Reflex that Alex shows at 18:23. I've always dug the look of those guitars..I just wish they weren't bolt-ons.

I really love those double cut Specials. Especially with the P-90s and tune o matic bridges.

where in the world do you store all the cases.? and how much do you spend a month on strings?.
Storage racks of various varieties! I also don't keep everything in the same place so stuff moves around a bit. As far as strings go, too much lol
You store cases wherever you can and if you use Elixir strings you spend 0$ per month on strings
