You’ll be pleased to know I actually had a little chat with the guitars after filming. We met up at a cozy little bar downtown-classy place, dim lighting, live jazz in the corner. The Stratocaster ordered an old-fashioned, the Telecaster went for a whiskey neat, and the Les Paul-always a diva-demanded a top-shelf bourbon. We spent hours reminiscing about the day. They told me they appreciated the way I handled them, even complimented my “firm but caring” grip. At one point, the Strat started cracking jokes about being more photogenic than the Tele, and we all burst out laughing. Honestly, if there was any disrespect in the air, it got drowned out by good drinks and even better company. By the end of the night, they were leaning against each other, singing Hotel California slightly off-key, and I was left with the bar tab. But hey, it’s all in good fun. Rest assured, the guitars felt respected, admired, and maybe just a little bit buzzed.

John Frederick Lewis RA (1804-1876) was an English Orientalist painter. He specialized in Oriental and Mediterranean scenes in detailed watercolour or oils, very often repeating the same composition in a version in each medium.[1] He lived for several years in a traditional mansion in Cairo, and after his return to England in 1851 he specialized in highly detailed works showing both realistic genre scenes of Middle Eastern life and more idealized scenes in upper-class Egyptian interiors with little apparent Western influence. Flea market out here in Ohio is a substantial one but we only see maybe 1 or two guitars each market. They’re usually overpriced and not anything you’d want to pickup. Lots to look at over your way!!!
@@IAM_Reedyagreed. Way too little profit to tie up that much capital. Between eBay fees, taxes and operating overhead it would be easy to lose money on that deal.
@@CampingGearReport I see them listed for prices like that on Reverb but I have a hard time believing people will spend that much on a truly low end short scale guitar. If ebay takes 13% of a sale, $3K for that guitar is a $110 profit buying it for $2500. There are Les Paul Studios for $1000-1250 or LP specials for $1500---massively more guitar than a Duo Sonic.
To my knowledge, D'Armond never actually made any guitars. The D'Armond (originally a pickup maker) name was purchased by Guild, and used on their cheaper overseas made guitars, much like Fender/Squier or Gibson/Epiphone. Also to my knowledge, BB King never played a D'Armond guitar. SO the $7500 D'Armond was worth around $3-400 or so. BTW, I used to love the Alameda Flea Market!!!
I considered it. The seller and I had a good back-and-forth though...I hit him with a generous $8.7 million offer, but apparently, that was 'insulting' 😔. He thought I was just trying to lowball him so I could flip it, but in hindsight, glad I did pass on it. The painting just wouldn’t vibe with the neon beer signs and vintage guitar wall in my man cave. If he still has it next month at the flea market, I might bump up my offer to $8.8 million. Maybe that will move the needle a little bit and he'll consider selling it to me. 🙏🙏🙏 I just hope the painting will fit inside of my Prius if I do end up buying it.
Dang sorry to hear that. This Alameda Flea happens once a month and is the "upscale" flea market. Most all of the sellers at this flea market are veterans in the resell game and own shops or do this full time. Stuff that gets sold off quickly for nefarious reasons usually happens at the other weekly flea markets in the area with a lot of fly by night individuals that sell in Concord or Oakland or Stockton.
I was on the fence about that painting. I thought it looked "cool" and would look nice in my man cave....but I wasn't sure if he was going to accept my offer of $9,000,000 and I didn't want to lowball him. He might have gotten offended at my offer.
the trouble with ebay, and it's not ebay's fault, but you can never tell what will sell and what won't and what will fetch a good price and what doesn't, i've had some pretty nice guitars sell for less (auction) than their true value just because - luck. i've bought and sold at least 50 guitars since 2013, most between then and 2018 when i was down to six "keepers" and i only made a profit twice, fees, postage, packaging, they all eat away at the price, you might sell at the market value, but you lose on the fees.
Ugh. EBAY comps. I have to tell people all the time, this is what big cities ask, this what I ask. And your item needs everything which means hang it on the wall or accept all the risk as a seller for lowball offers. I know Burger King.
I don’t know anything about guitars, but I will tell you this if it’s a BBQ guitar if it ain’t legitimate authentication and don’t matter who it’s from it ain’t worth what he’s asking and second a $14 million painting why in the world sit out at the flea market? Because if it’s really worth $14 million you think you’d be smart enough and sold it at the auction already not bringing out at the flea market. I think that guy was full of it. You know he’s the type of person you’re fine on eBay or people can ask all day long what they wantbut very seldom ever get it anyway thanks for the information. Your flea market is obviously a lot better than the ones we go to here in Ohio will never see that kind of quality of stuff here.
At a flea market I feel like the expectation is to have things priced on the lower end of the scale because you don't necessarily want to take back all the unsold inventory at the end of the day. The Duo Sonic guy sold on eBay so he was definitely thinking about eBay prices. The only problem with eBay pricing is that it involves fees and risk of return, etc. but I'm glad the seller was ultimately able to sell it for $3,000 on eBay. He did well for a guitar that was unplayable 😅
Don't hate the player... hate the game. UA-cam advertisers don't like nudity... So I have to play their game and censor that section 🤷 Boobies are bad in their eyes. 🤷
You screw up on the case, to many repairs on the guitars unless you got a repairman in your pocket. Which I do, bought a 1976 J200 Artist with foot thru the sound hole for $1400 and the repair cost $2000 but that guitar sounds and plays and is not for sale. Too bad I can't show you the picture before and after. Hard to find somebody now days, that a real guitar repair man. keep looking, I am watching. I found white 1966 Jazzmaster and going to seal it for $2500 with the white case. Somebody needs the money. It' also not for sale. Just collector.
Those De Armonds are awful. I had one, worst guitar. The neck bolts kept coming very loose because the screw holes were stripped. Wasnt even worth the parts in it

Also to my knowledge, BB King never played a D'Armond guitar. SO the $7500 D'Armond was worth around $3-400 or so.
BTW, I used to love the Alameda Flea Market!!!
I smashed the like button when you asked
I miss the old flea market prices before everyone had eBay in their pocket lol
I enjoy this video thanks 👍
Wait.... so you didn't buy the painting?
I considered it. The seller and I had a good back-and-forth though...I hit him with a generous $8.7 million offer, but apparently, that was 'insulting' 😔. He thought I was just trying to lowball him so I could flip it, but in hindsight, glad I did pass on it. The painting just wouldn’t vibe with the neon beer signs and vintage guitar wall in my man cave.
If he still has it next month at the flea market, I might bump up my offer to $8.8 million. Maybe that will move the needle a little bit and he'll consider selling it to me. 🙏🙏🙏
I just hope the painting will fit inside of my Prius if I do end up buying it.
@GuitarFinds I'm pretty sure BB King used to paint on that painting.... his security guard told me about it.
I think that guy with the Duo-Sonic had a friend buy it at that price just to spite you.
I start sweating when I don't find a deal and then I end up buying something stupid like a replica route 66 sign
Seems odd to me they leave $6000 guitars out in the sun leaning up against the fender of a truck in only a gig bag.
To the people whose job it is to clean out storage units / estate sales, a guitar is just another thing to sell for them at the flea market.
More BASS please!
Vintage guitars are hard af to sell lol
I would have fired back $200 on the Gretch. Prolly $600 anywhere. Lol
Some people asking way too much for guitars. And why would someone bring a $14 million painting to a flea market?
I know right? When he said $14 million, I was just like....then why is this here???? 🤔🤔🤔
Love the Fender Duosonic , that desert sand finish ! Thanks !
14 millions paintings right on the concrete 😂😂😂😂
I'm pretty sure my beautiful telecaster ended up there after my car got stolen and all my gear in Richmond
$7500 for 90s dearmond m75, guys is tripping
I always have a spare $14,000,000 to buy a flea market “original” painting
I was on the fence about that painting. I thought it looked "cool" and would look nice in my man cave....but I wasn't sure if he was going to accept my offer of $9,000,000 and I didn't want to lowball him. He might have gotten offended at my offer.
Dream on
the trouble with ebay, and it's not ebay's fault, but you can never tell what will sell and what won't and what will fetch a good price and what doesn't, i've had some pretty nice guitars sell for less (auction) than their true value just because - luck. i've bought and sold at least 50 guitars since 2013, most between then and 2018 when i was down to six "keepers" and i only made a profit twice, fees, postage, packaging, they all eat away at the price, you might sell at the market value, but you lose on the fees.
Thajt'Z it im digging up a bunch of ole heads and building s guitar outta thier dusty bones, yes Dig'M up. Hi Yaw!!!!
No way
Ikr? 😬😬😬
@08:25 - If that was a 14M painting you wouldn't be selling it at a car lot sale...What is this guy sniffing
His valuation was highly optimistic. Emphasis on the "high" part. 😏
Ugh. EBAY comps. I have to tell people all the time, this is what big cities ask, this what I ask. And your item needs everything which means hang it on the wall or accept all the risk as a seller for lowball offers. I know Burger King.
Asking 7500 but I’ll take 1500 😂
Shrewd negotiator 😅
Markets like those are there to fleece the gullible. Seriously how many who go to those are knowledgeable buyers?
That’s no flea market that’s
an outdoor auction.
$14m painting at the Alameda flea market 😂
jokers at the market who think these guitars are worth a fortune !! the duo sonic is probably worth $1500
BB King Guitar 😂😂😂
WHAT THE F ARE YOU BLURRING OUT IN THE PAINTING JEEEEEEZ
Don't hate the player... hate the game. UA-cam advertisers don't like nudity... So I have to play their game and censor that section 🤷
Boobies are bad in their eyes.
Wasnt even worth the parts in it
Huge pass. 🤘
Cool website, great personality. I think I will check you out by subbing.
