    :::About This Episode:::
Here's we go with Episode 3 of the Scott's Bass Lessons Podcast!
This week I sit down with the phenomenal Hadrien Feraud - bassist for bands and musicians such as John McLaughlin, Chick Corea, Billy Cobham, Jean Luc Ponty, Bireli Lagrene, Dean Brown and many more...
I know this sounds like an exaggeration, but when I first got to watch Hadrien play live (at Manchester Bass Day many moons ago) it literally changed my life. I'd never seen anyone do what he did that day - and still to this day no one has ever affected me in such a way. It simply blew my mind and I'll certainly remember that day forever.
In this episode we discuss his past, how he found the bass, how his father introduced him to many different styles of music - right through to been viewed as one of the most talented and sophisticated bass players of our time in terms of technique and improvisation.
In this Episode You're Going to Learn
    Who Hadrien's biggest influences where
Why Hadrien had to give himself a 'crash course' in harmony
Hadrien's appoach to 'playing the right notes'
How he approached writing his new album
    And much more...

I've had several conversations with Hadiren, and what really stands out is how humble he is, and how he is never satisfied with his own playing. A true artist.

I am hugely impressed...Hadrien is so humble, honest in explaining his thought process. He said 2 or 3 sentences that inspired me and motivates me.

As a young bass player, I listen a lot of musicians -not only bass players-. Sax, Keyboard, Drums, Guitar, etc. Everything I'd find on the road. I listen a lot of Bireli Lagrene, he's my inspiration too. Hadrien has a lot of talent and he knows how to explain where his talent comes from. Thank you so much, Scott. You are a great teacher.

Awesome work your doing here Scott.
Great to see Hadrien so candid about his 'simple' approach, really appreciate his humility, and offcourse an absolute monster of a bassist! Incredible!
Keep up the quality work Scott 👍🏼

I remember listening to Hadrien's music about 5ish years back and thinking, although seriously impressed and inspired (and of course a bit disheartened), my thought was that he seemed to throw EVERYTHING into his playing bar the kitchen sink. Hence I couldn't listen to him for longer periods. To me - and it might be that I've developed a better understanding of harmony - I now I listen to him and I think, he's playing is so much sweeter, like he doesn't have to impress anymore. Anyway, that was a lovely, lovely interview. Hats off to you Scott.

Hadrien - 'I don't really have a harmonic approach other than playing the right mode or scale over the right chord... there's no approach but playing *in*'
Every transcriber on the internet - 'Alright guys, so the first thing you want to do to get that Hadrien Feraud *essence* is to become really familiar with the Melodic Minor and then substitute it often over standard Major Harmony'
    Me - 'SOMEBODY HELP!'

Scott, I have a really bad problem with sweaty hands, which is really irritating because it rots the strings really quickly and makes it difficult to play because of the slippery neck. Do you know if there's anyway to make life a bit easier? Would gloves be an option?
