He's not wrong...as much as I've enjoyed watching some of the performances under Stokes it does all seem a bit too relaxed and ' nice '. Its good to have an environment where players are encouraged to feel comfortable...but they can also become too comfortable. My concerns started when Stokes said' We are not a results based team'...now I think I know what he meant...they are focusing on the mindset, approach and on their skills...but still...this is international sport, its The Ashes and you are up against a battle hardened, tough Aussie side...time to get real and knuckle down
That statement from Stokes can be interpreted in many ways like : "We focus on process rather than results". Meaning if players are performing according to brief given then result shouldnt matter. This is a good philosophy, but this has to be matched by on-field actions. Bad fielding is putting more pressure on depleted bowling lineup, resulting in abysmal extras.
They win the toss, get good conditions, and look like a pack of medium pace pie chuckers. Two late wickets were very lucky, both got themselves out. Could easily be staring at 360/3 after putting them in.
After watching this i literally remembered what shoaib Akhtar has been saying this from ages that bowlers today has lost an attitude which they used to carry which they used to harbour back in days when batsman used to fear facing bowling he may not show but they would Cricket nowadays has lost charm due to its sissy whimpy environment created by opposition of teams
Kev's right. As a fan of English cricket, I'm glad that someone is talking about and making no bones about it ( I only wish he had avoided getting himself in too much when speaking - 'I've played 30 tests, I did this, I did that ), but he's got the rest of the comments spot on. I was miffed to see Baz and Stokes all smiles and shaking hands after the Wellington defeat in February, inexplicable after a defeat. It all felt too chummy - being unfazed after defeat is one, but being smiles all around ?! Even in the first test a couple of weeks ago, I hardly saw anyone wincing when defeat was near ( except perhaps Broad ). The bowling department ( both spin and pace ) needs an overhaul with sufficient bench strength - only Broad looked like someone that could take a wicket in the first test. The second test isn't turning out to be any different, although I hope for a very different result from the first. Can we have Wood for the next test please?
As far as I know, the philosophy of test cricket is you defend with your bowling and attack with your field, just the opposite of T20 cricket. And this English team is all out attack team, which is not okay for test cricket. You can attack with your bat, but you cant just attack attack attack with your bowling as well... You need to be consistent, especially in these conditions with your bowling & can afford all out attack with your field. Also I feel like Anderson & Broad isnt being used properly.
Completely agreed... plus, what's James Anderson doing out there?? England can't afford to rest a paceman after just doing one or two spells that's insane, the longer he plays the worse he could bring to the fast-bowling squad. JA, it's time to pack up mate...

It just takes some sort of moment to get both teams riled up and be aggressive just like the eng vs ind series which was going with just casual atmosphere but suddenly from the day 4 of 2nd test in lords things got heated and continued throughout the series
If you need a 'moment' to get fired up for an Ashes test, you shouldn't be playing in it.
It was to easy today. Don’t think Ollie’s gonna swear at a centurion again in the series that would do the trick😂
A least glare or walk up to the Aussie batsman - Stuart Broad needs to get involved lol
@@mytwosense9135 true
An Englishman, Irishman and South African walk into a bar, which 2 played for England?
bigger question would be, which ones won them tournaments and cups 😂😂😂😂
Brutal honesty😉
Savage takedown by Ward! KP teed that up
The bowlers taking such a lazy walk when the batsmen were already there was incredible
KP. I definitely agree with every word from a true legend ❤❤
Ever since the first test, he hated the declaration
Absolutely honest from kp.
The loss of Leach has devastated this England side. The non-selection of Foakes is outrageous in its defiance of logic. The unavailability of Archer and Wood severely dilutes the potency of England's seam-attack.
It is outrageous. It was such an easy call too, Bairstow back & Crawley out.
Seam attack medium pace bowlers going thro motions no aggression no spinner its odds on Lyon will get a bagful
No pace
Archer is gone . He is not coming back . Forget about him.
Leach isn’t good enough to play for England
Spot on….too bloody casual by the whole lot….over confidence with this “bazball” ideology. Keep your mouths shut and bloody win!….then take it easy!
KP is looking like a giant next to them
KP, don't hold back tell us how you really feel.
This coming from the guy who was best mates with Warney in 2005. Typical grandstanding stuff from Pietersen. Loves the sound of his own voice.
Well said kev what a vital toss to win was a bowling pitch alday and they have managed to close 190/2 joke and tht declaration was the difference between winning and losing kev has heart and passion and he tells it how it is!simple as tht if they don't come out thirsty 2moro then this whole ashes is going to be a shambles "hawaay england"
KP being KP....❤
Hes spot on ..... 1st time ever but he is spot on
He's not wrong...as much as I've enjoyed watching some of the performances under Stokes it does all seem a bit too relaxed and ' nice '.
@@dashmeetsingh9679 Its a "sounds good, doesn't work" philosophy.
He prefers entertainment than results
@deeznuts169 yep thats one of the interpretation
Well said KP 👏
They win the toss, get good conditions, and look like a pack of medium pace pie chuckers.
Two late wickets were very lucky, both got themselves out. Could easily be staring at 360/3 after putting them in.
After watching this i literally remembered what shoaib Akhtar has been saying this from ages that bowlers today has lost an attitude which they used to carry which they used to harbour back in days when batsman used to fear facing bowling he may not show but they would
Cricket nowadays has lost charm due to its sissy whimpy environment created by opposition of teams
Once Johnson retired, there was no true enforcers left in a pace attack. I agree that we've seemingly lost a truly special part of test cricket
@@mytwosense9135you haven't seen a fiery Chris Woakes bowling bouncers yet!!
Day one of test 2 and Pieterson is already turning on his own hahaha. Love it.
What a genius put down by Ian Ward there
Absolutely spot on. The most exciting thing about England today was when Bairstow tackled that protester.
😂😂😂😂
Well said KP.
the size difference between kevin and the other two is comical
England after losing the 2nd test and going 2-0 down : Well, we still entertained the public 🤭🤭🤭
They prefer entertainment rather than results
Well it is technically entertaining for the public (for the public that supports Straya that is)
Passionate Irish and South African poms, got to love it! 😂
Ian Ward was well proud of that comment to KP 😂
It was a good one tho 😂
Time to check into a nursing home I think
Guess they r trying him to play 200 test matches
Two more test end of bazball u can't replace 200 years old games in t20 format test match is all about keep patience on the field not off the field.
Either the camera perspective is weird or I didn't realise just how much of a giant Pietersen is. Makes the other two next to him look like hobbits.
Australia just showed to England,Bazball doesn't work against the Mighty Aussies.
KP is spot on the declaration in the first test was a absolute joke England missed a big chance how many test are you going to get Warner Smith and Labuschagne out cheaply in both their innings and also Anderson as been class in the past but he is finished sad to say
Except at the time he thought it was brilliant. He’s full of it.
I have to agree on Anderson and I think it's time for him to leave and retire on test cricket 🏏 and maybe next summer tests should be his curtain call being brutally honest
Spot on KP.
Seriously England miss wood and Archer badly
England have to be friendly and inclusive. Apparently this includes Australians.
5-0 loss at home is what’s going to happen
first good thing KP has said. be more like ponting, brutal but honest. it gets respect, andd your bloody spot on, well played kevin.
That's rutheless from Kp and truth 🔥
Ollie Robinson 29 yr old hardly bowls 128kmph 😑🙏
KO is the goat. Always speaks his mind. We love him
Someone finally being honest everyone else kissing stokes’ ass
Agree👍 KP... Absolutely
