I’d say that Hot Fuzz would loose a lot of what made it great if you cut it down to get to the action sooner. It’s not just a send up of action films, it’s a send up of police procedural films and the mystery of who’s behind the killings that takes up the first three quarters is genuinely very compelling.

The early parts really show off the personality of the town and the people in it. Some of my favourite parts. Hot Fuzz is definitely my favourite Edgar Wright film. 👍👍
I actually like they first half way more than the second half so DON'T THINK ABOUT CUTTING IT 😂

It’s a shame that his Ant Man film didn’t make it out of production… he’s a great director!
He’s too good for marvel movies
you can see a lot of edgar wright in antman such as luis' explanations and a lot of the comedy but yeah i feel like it couldve been amongst marvels best if he stayed on
I'd say its better since we may not have gotten Baby Driver and on top of that marvel has kind of been making directors feel generic E.g Sam Ramie.
Edgar Wright is one of the best directors out there!

Don’t get me wrong, Shaun of the Dead is an amazing movie, and I think all the films in the Cornetto trilogy are great. I just enjoyed The Worlds End a little more then Shaun of the Dead, if that makes sense
Such a fun and rewatchable movie. Me and my day have probably seen it 20 times it feels like. Absolutely love it
I absolutely _adore_ baby driver and just all of edgar wright's work, it's all so perfectly crafted and so much detail is put into every shot and joke. Glorious!

Baby Driver and Hot Fuzz are interchangeable but I love them both so much. I really loved Last Night in Soho. Not a huge fan of The World’s End. I thought it really paled in comparison to the other two films in the cornetto trilogy as well as Wright’s three standalone movies.

I’d give The World’s End a rewatch. It has a lot of heart and is still funny.
Interesting ranking. I really enjoyed Last Night in Soho, and I think that’s one of my favourites. Interesting to see you put it last.

Funnily enough, I have the exact same list as you! Baby Driver is probably one of my favourite movies of all times.
I love Edgar Wright, my favourite director and despite letterboxd and those sites I still think he's very underrated. I do think Hot Fuzz is best, but your top 3 are all in my top 10 favourite films. I love learning new little facts about his films, like how all Baby Driver's car chases were practical, and seeing new details on every rewatch. Great review on a great director.
1. Hot Fuzz - one of my favourite movies of all time, if only for the Angel/Danny bromance and Timothy Dalton’s scene chewing performance. Seriously, Dalton looks like he’s having the time of his life in this movie ❤️
2. Shaun of the Dead - an amazing homage to Romero’s zombie movies
3. Scott Pilgrim vs the World - the cast and movie as a whole are so good, it’s just hard to put this one higher than Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead, two of my favourite movies
4. Baby Driver - love the choreography and song integration, but I’m not a huge fan of the ending with the trial. The bank teller defending his character because he gave her a look saying “Don’t go into the bank” was a bit too ridiculous
5. World’s End - I agree that the story was better when it was just a bunch of mates hanging out after decades with one of them having a very distorted view on life. I think I would have preferred it as a psychological thriller rather than an alien invasion

HF and Scott Pilgrim are very close, so I could see them switching around. I also think BD will improve for me on second viewing, as I loved the style. I just didn't like where they went with the story and characters in the second half, so if I could get over some of that, I'll love it too!
Fun Fact about Baby Driver: Did you know that in the script for Baby Driver the first line in the script is a note saying ‘This film is driven by music’

Baby Driver, Shaun of the Dead, and Hot Fuzz are among my favorite films of all time and I could watch them nonstop and never get tired of them. I loved Last Night in Soho though I understand why it’s a little bit divisive amongst people. I love The World’s End but it doesn’t have the same replay value has some of the other ones. Not a big Scott Pilgrim fan personally (sorry).

I loved Last Night in Soho but there was a couple plot threads I didn’t think ended up satisfying along with the ending not being bad at all, but it was revealed too quickly and they rushed it all together. The second act is Wrights best imo so it would rank at least 4 out of his movies
@J D I agree with your points on Last night in Soho I’d hoped they expounded upon couple of the plot threads that felt in my eyes got glossed over a-bit. Despite the nitpicks still enjoyed it plus Edgar Wright knows how to tackle different genres of Cinema!

Ellie almost kills her and then you never see her again.
And like I said, the twists and ending are in no way bad, I just found the twist with Sandie very underwhelming with how it was handled even if I had A feeling Sandie was the housekeeper

Scott Pilgrim vs the world is one of my fav movies of all time! It's one of the best videogame movies that's not even based on a videogame and it's also one of the best live action anime movies that's not even based on one 10/10.

You know what's sad? I thought that Last Night in Soho was the best film I saw all year.
1. Baby Driver (a car movie I absolutely LOVE)
2. Hot Fuzz (true action BRILLIANCE)
3. Shaun of the Dead (how his foreshadowing was learned about)
4. Last Night in Soho (his first psychological horror)
5. Scott Pilgrim (one of THE best video game-themed films to date, just couldn't believe the love story but it CLEARLY inspired Into the Spider-Verse)
6. The World's End (I'll never relate to drinkers)
I haven't seen Last Night in Soho, so this is my ranking (this is practically impossible, as I love nearly all of these films)
5. Worlds End- I just didn't find it that funny. I thought the fight scenes were exceptional, the story and comedy just needed work (except Bil Nigh at the end, he made me laugh)
4. Baby Driver- I really like the car chases and the character, I just like the others more
3. Shaun of the Dead- not familiar with zombie films, so I didn't get the many references, but I still love the comedy and action.
2. Scott Pilgrim- one of my favourite films ever visually, so entertaining and funny in fight scenes and style.
1. Hot Fuzz- probably one of my favourite comedies of all time. It's a great mystery, a hilarious police procedural, an exciting action film and a heartwarming buddy film.

Absolutely agree re. The World's End, I wanted the story of their reunion to just continue and play out. Once the action kicked off I switched off a bit and the cast didn't shine nearly as brightly as the first half.
But the action is so good...

I was honestly surprised Matt Smith, the 11th Doctor is in Last Night In Soho.

I doubt it will happen honestly.
@@nms7872 It will, originally, Sony is the one to come over to Wright to make a sequel and he has already made three drafts of the movie so I'm 99% it'll happen.
@@somecallmejeremy On the interview he said he dont know since its all on Sony and now Ansel Elgort has basically got cancelled. Wright has numbers of project in development and I doubt he will made Baby Driver 2 anytime soon unless They went into new direction
