I always loved Titanic, it’s my favourite of James Cameron’s films (yes more than Aliens or both Terminator films), it’s a fantastic slow build with an entire hour of tragedy once the iceberg hits the ship, the music is phenomenal, the direction and production design is top notch, the acting is fluid, and the storytelling is very good with the blending of the true tragedy of the sinking of the titanic
Couldn’t agree with you more. Brilliant film, one of my favourite soundtracks of all time. The way it moves from a period love story to a disaster film is genius. I think it’s underrated these days. 👍👍

Terminator 2 is easily Cameron’s best in my book. Recently rewatched Titanic as well and everything you said is spot on. One of the greatest love stories ever told on film as well. A brilliant study on how dramatic irony works so well.

In my opinion Titanic is number 1 for me. That movie is so so good and special to me and it always makes me cry. I’ve watched it so much and I’ll never get sick of it. Plus I love Kate Winslet so much. She’s an amazing actress

Respect everyone’s opinion on Avatar, but can we please start judging movies as their own thing and what they bring to the table as a package and not constantly be worried about what it borrows from other movies/franchises. I think overall if people were able to do this they would enjoy the film a lot more
8: Avatar (I’ve never got the hype for this film. It made way too much money and it’s formulaic. I still like it, but certainly my least favorite) 7: True Lies (This is one of his weakest, but I love it! It’s peak Arnold action for me) 6: Avatar: The Way of Water (A significant improvement over the OG. The story is a lot less formulaic. This is Avatar fully realized) 5: The Abyss (An under appreciated masterpiece! Thought provoking! Interesting! And for 1989, it looks beautiful) 4: Terminator (The sequel is better, but this film rocks as well. Objectively, might be his best film. Revolutionary for filmmaking as a whole!) 3: Titanic (Never fails to make me cry. This movie is very long, but weirdly rewatchable for me. The first James Cameron film I watched) 2: Aliens (This movie is awesome! Action packed and intense! I love this movie, but one is just THE best) 1: Terminator 2 (One of my favorites! I’m glad I finally came around to watch it. Everything is perfect!)
Haven’t seen Abyss yet, I will sometime soon probably 1. Aliens 2. T2 3. Avatar 2 4. Terminator 5. Titanic 6. Avatar 7. True Lies Aliens and T2 are my two favorite movies ever. I know it’s probably an unpopular opinion to have Avatar 2 that high, but I love it so much, I’ve seen it three times already an am driving an hour and a half to see it in 4DX Wednesday. Terminator, Titanic, and Avatar I all love, and True Lies is still an awesome movie even if it’s last. This is James Cameron, so last place shouldn’t be taken as a negative, he’s made all amazing movies.
I’ve always had A soft spot for titanic! One of only two 3+ hour movies I’ve ever seen that I’m able to sit through and love beginning to end! Titanic and (oddly enough)Ten Commandments starring Charlton heston 😂

My absolute favorite is the Titanic. What James Cameron did in this film, even more so in the 90s, is fantastic, and without a doubt it is one of the greatest films of all time. Sadly, I feel like it's become underrated these days, it seems like nobody cares about the movie anymore. As if it wasn't relevant. This is sad.
My ranking... 1. Titanic - My favourite movie of all time, and I think it's James Cameron at his best. 2. Aliens - I really enjoyed it and I could go back to rewatch it any time. 3. Terminator 2: Judgement Day - My favourite action film ever, and improves upon everything from the first one. 4. The Terminator - Not as good as T2, but a fantastic film nonetheless. 5. The Abyss - Definitely James Cameron's most underrated film, and it has some amazing visuals for its time. 6. Avatar - As much as people disliked it, I thought the story was engaging and the VFX was stunning. 7. True Lies - This is probably Cameron's worst film, but it still manages to be entertaining. I have not yet seen Avatar: The Way of the Water.

True Lies (Haven't seen in a long time but for what I remember it's really good but kinda cheesy) 05. The Abyss (Probably his most underrated work) 04. Titanic (Might sound odd but this movie has one of my favorite third act although it takes quite some time to get there, great movie overall) 03. So glad Cameron's finally back. Since you're one of his biggest fans this'll be extra fun because it'll only be 1 negative and a bunch of other glowing reviews. Sad the state of blockbusters have basically left him, George Miller & the Wachowskis as like the only ones of the old guard left able to make truly incredible action sequences and go bonkers. My Ranking: 9. Piranha 2 (Duh, not even close. Jim was only on set for 10 days and this movie feels like it was made in that long.) Good: 8. Avatar (His clunkiest writing meets his most incredible worldbuilding.) 7. Aliens (Metallic 80s action-horror fun. More of an Alien guy but this is great too.) 6. Terminator 2: Judgement Day (Similarly metallic and corny but Jim finds the heart here and pounds it.) Great: 5. True Lies (Over the top in every way and absolutely glorious in being that.) 4. Titanic (Beautifully romantic & lovingly old-fashioned, with the greatest disaster movie ever made in its final hour.) 3. The Terminator (A work of savage beauty, mindbending mix of slasher horror and action movie.) Masterful: 2. Avatar: The Way of Water (Most of Jim's writing weaknesses become strengths as he can just vibe out with his blue buddies with complete confidence and filmmaking beauty.) 1. The Abyss (Cameron does Spielberg and it suits him perfectly. Just a completely raw, unabashed sentimentality that flawlessly mixes his metal aesthetic and tech fetish. Starting with his 2 movies that I hate: 9.Avatar: The Way Of Water Just saw the movie… fair disclaimer I actually don’t think it’s the worst movie on the list, just the one that I hate the most! the visuals are stunning as expected yet the story is lacking, dialogue is far from perfect and I hate it! Don’t get me wrong, It’s an ok film with beautiful cinematography, but the fact it stole James Cameron from us and that he totally waisted 30 years of his life on this franchise instead of giving us something new, is just insane to me. Not even in my top 20 movies of the year… the fact that some reviews I’ve seen said that it’s the best James Cameron Sequel is just mind boggling to me… 8. Avatar. Never liked the film at all, but as with it’s sequel, I came to resent it because it made James Cameron a prisoner of Pandora. This movie was groundbreaking in special effects, but I never cared for anything else in this film. Acting was decent. Now for the one movie I just don’t like: 7. Piranha 2: The Spawning. It’s dated but I’ll take any day of the week over the two Avatar movies. The actors are ok and it’s got some nice kills. That being said I’ve seen way better sea creatures movies. Now for the 3 movie I really like and can watch all the time repeatedly. 6.The Abyss. I like this movie. Cast is great and I really dig in the vibes and atmosphere. The only thing that Kinda drag it down for me, it’s that I think the movie should have been simpler and sometimes more is less(that’s all I can say without spoiling). 5. Titanic. A great romance film with such a great set up. However, the movie could have been shorte and with a faster paste. 4. True Lies. Such a fun spy movie! I really like Bill Paxton and Tom Arnold in this one. Definitely the funniest James Cameron movie. Now for three movies that all are in my top 25 films of all times: 3. T2: Judgement Day. It’s my 23rd favourite movie of all times. Love everything about it. Sarah Connor is such a badass! 2. The Terminator. It’s my 9th favourite movie of all times! I just love Arnold as this ultimate killing machine! The Police Station scene is breathtaking! Kyle Reese is one of my favourite characters. 1. Aliens. This is my 7th favourite movie of all time. The perfect mix of action, horror and science fiction. Ripley is amazing, the Aliens are great but the real standouts of the movie are the squad: Hicks, Newt, Bishop, Hudson and Vasquez Are all great. Even Burke is a very memorable villain.
Great Rankings! Just FYI: It has been confirmed that Disney will release “The Abyss” to Blu-ray, 4K HDR, and Digital at some point in March 2023. Still no word on “True Lies” even though a TV series based on that movie is scheduled to start on CBS at about that same time.

Great ranking Sean. My ranking of the films I've seen from my favorite to my least favorite Is 1. The Terminator (9.5/10) 2. Terminator 2: Judgement Day (10/10) 3. Aliens (9/10) 4. Titanic (8.5/10) 5. Avatar (7.5/10) I think Terminator 2: Judgement Day Is overall a better made film with better set pieces and better special effects then the first film but I prefer the first one a little bit more because of the horror aspect of the film and it feels more gritty and small scale.
Oh! How I LOVE The Abyss!!! I think it was this movie, more than any other, that made me a Science fiction fan! I had already seen Star Trek and Star Wars before I saw The Abyss but it just hit differently than anything else I had seen till then. Thank you, James Cameron!!!

I really like T2, but I've always had an issue with it since the first time I watched it. After the T-1000 freezes and falls apart they just wait around and watch him thaw out and come back together and then choose to run.

Piranha II: The Spawning-It’s a very bad movie to begin with, but when you learn about the behind the scenes stories about how Cameron got fired, it makes this movie even worse As a point of reference, I would go very positive on the rest of these movies. James Cameron is an amazing director, so even the next movie is still a B+ for me 8. Avatar-Even though it has the template of a bunch of other movies, it’s very well executed for what it is 7. The Abyss-A great, tense underwater thriller with an interesting cast of characters representing how different people would react to this situation 6. Avatar: The Way of Water-It wasn’t worth the 13 year wait, but it’s another very satisfying, crowd pleasing film from James Cameron 5. True Lies-Peak James Cameron + peak Arnold Schwarzenegger + fun concept + amazing action + great comedy = awesome film 4. Titanic-It’s easy to pick on this movie for taking an event where 1,000+ people died and making it a love story about two fictional characters that just met, but the movie is masterfully executed from beginning to end 3. Aliens-An A+ movie that takes everything great about Alien and makes it even better 2. The Terminator-Despite having a low budget, it shows the talent Cameron had (and still has) 1. I love most of Cameron’s films, even the terminators. But box office wise, none of them touch either of the Avatars, Sean’s list is more about his favorites, not how they should be ranked. And I’m not saying both Avatars should be #1 and #2. But off of their success and box office numbers alone, should be higher on the list. Easily both should be top 5 on this list.

I was 11 when Terminator 2 came out. My dad pulled me out of school for the day so we could go to the cinema and watch it. Love it. (However, Aliens is my all-time favourite.)

I always loved Titanic, it’s my favourite of James Cameron’s films (yes more than Aliens or both Terminator films), it’s a fantastic slow build with an entire hour of tragedy once the iceberg hits the ship, the music is phenomenal, the direction and production design is top notch, the acting is fluid, and the storytelling is very good with the blending of the true tragedy of the sinking of the titanic
Couldn’t agree with you more. Brilliant film, one of my favourite soundtracks of all time. The way it moves from a period love story to a disaster film is genius. I think it’s underrated these days. 👍👍

Terminator 2 is easily Cameron’s best in my book. Recently rewatched Titanic as well and everything you said is spot on. One of the greatest love stories ever told on film as well. A brilliant study on how dramatic irony works so well.

Respect everyone’s opinion on Avatar, but can we please start judging movies as their own thing and what they bring to the table as a package and not constantly be worried about what it borrows from other movies/franchises. I think overall if people were able to do this they would enjoy the film a lot more
8: Avatar (I’ve never got the hype for this film. It made way too much money and it’s formulaic. I still like it, but certainly my least favorite)
7: True Lies (This is one of his weakest, but I love it! It’s peak Arnold action for me)
6: Avatar: The Way of Water (A significant improvement over the OG. The story is a lot less formulaic. This is Avatar fully realized)

Aliens and T2 are my two favorite movies ever. I know it’s probably an unpopular opinion to have Avatar 2 that high, but I love it so much, I’ve seen it three times already an am driving an hour and a half to see it in 4DX Wednesday. Terminator, Titanic, and Avatar I all love, and True Lies is still an awesome movie even if it’s last. This is James Cameron, so last place shouldn’t be taken as a negative, he’s made all amazing movies.

My absolute favorite is the Titanic. What James Cameron did in this film, even more so in the 90s, is fantastic, and without a doubt it is one of the greatest films of all time. Sadly, I feel like it's become underrated these days, it seems like nobody cares about the movie anymore. As if it wasn't relevant. This is sad.

2. Aliens - I really enjoyed it and I could go back to rewatch it any time.
3. Terminator 2: Judgement Day - My favourite action film ever, and improves upon everything from the first one.
4. The Terminator - Not as good as T2, but a fantastic film nonetheless.
5. The Abyss - Definitely James Cameron's most underrated film, and it has some amazing visuals for its time.
6. Avatar - As much as people disliked it, I thought the story was engaging and the VFX was stunning.
7. True Lies - This is probably Cameron's worst film, but it still manages to be entertaining.

Starting with his 2 movies that I hate:
9.Avatar: The Way Of Water Just saw the movie… fair disclaimer I actually don’t think it’s the worst movie on the list, just the one that I hate the most! the visuals are stunning as expected yet the story is lacking, dialogue is far from perfect and I hate it! Don’t get me wrong, It’s an ok film with beautiful cinematography, but the fact it stole James Cameron from us and that he totally waisted 30 years of his life on this franchise instead of giving us something new, is just insane to me. Not even in my top 20 movies of the year… the fact that some reviews I’ve seen said that it’s the best James Cameron Sequel is just mind boggling to me…
8. Avatar. Never liked the film at all, but as with it’s sequel, I came to resent it because it made James Cameron a prisoner of Pandora. This movie was groundbreaking in special effects, but I never cared for anything else in this film. Acting was decent.
Now for the one movie I just don’t like:
7. Piranha 2: The Spawning. It’s dated but I’ll take any day of the week over the two Avatar movies. The actors are ok and it’s got some nice kills. That being said I’ve seen way better sea creatures movies.
Now for the 3 movie I really like and can watch all the time repeatedly.
6.The Abyss. I like this movie. Cast is great and I really dig in the vibes and atmosphere. The only thing that Kinda drag it down for me, it’s that I think the movie should have been simpler and sometimes more is less(that’s all I can say without spoiling).
5. Titanic. A great romance film with such a great set up. However, the movie could have been shorte and with a faster paste.
4. True Lies. Such a fun spy movie! I really like Bill Paxton and Tom Arnold in this one. Definitely the funniest James Cameron movie.
Now for three movies that all are in my top 25 films of all times:
3. T2: Judgement Day. It’s my 23rd favourite movie of all times. Love everything about it. Sarah Connor is such a badass!
2. The Terminator. It’s my 9th favourite movie of all times! I just love Arnold as this ultimate killing machine! The Police Station scene is breathtaking! Kyle Reese is one of my favourite characters.
1. Aliens. This is my 7th favourite movie of all time. The perfect mix of action, horror and science fiction. Ripley is amazing, the Aliens are great but the real standouts of the movie are the squad: Hicks, Newt, Bishop, Hudson and Vasquez Are all great. Even Burke is a very memorable villain.
Great Rankings! Just FYI: It has been confirmed that Disney will release “The Abyss” to Blu-ray, 4K HDR, and Digital at some point in March 2023. Still no word on “True Lies” even though a TV series based on that movie is scheduled to start on CBS at about that same time.

I think Terminator 2: Judgement Day Is overall a better made film with better set pieces and better special effects then the first film but I prefer the first one a little bit more because of the horror aspect of the film and it feels more gritty and small scale.

Oh! How I LOVE The Abyss!!! I think it was this movie, more than any other, that made me a Science fiction fan! I had already seen Star Trek and Star Wars before I saw The Abyss but it just hit differently than anything else I had seen till then. Thank you, James Cameron!!!

#1. Terminator 2: Judgement Day
Ya terminator 2 imo is one of the best movies ever made i rewatched it again the other day and it’s incredible that the movie looks better then some that are made today!
I really like T2, but I've always had an issue with it since the first time I watched it. After the T-1000 freezes and falls apart they just wait around and watch him thaw out and come back together and then choose to run.
Titanic will always be my favorite movie of all time!!😁😊

Unpopular opinion after re-watching all Terminator movies this year I have to say I like the 1st one just a little better than the 2nd
The both fantastic movies, don't think it is unpopular there is a clear sci-fi loving group that prefers Terminator over Terminator 2, know if you said you prefer Aliens over Alien then you have something
I was born in 94 and have owned every movie for years and I haven't yet watched a single one even though I want to.

9. Piranha II: The Spawning-It’s a very bad movie to begin with, but when you learn about the behind the scenes stories about how Cameron got fired, it makes this movie even worse
As a point of reference, I would go very positive on the rest of these movies. James Cameron is an amazing director, so even the next movie is still a B+ for me
8. Avatar-Even though it has the template of a bunch of other movies, it’s very well executed for what it is
7. The Abyss-A great, tense underwater thriller with an interesting cast of characters representing how different people would react to this situation
6. Avatar: The Way of Water-It wasn’t worth the 13 year wait, but it’s another very satisfying, crowd pleasing film from James Cameron
5. True Lies-Peak James Cameron + peak Arnold Schwarzenegger + fun concept + amazing action + great comedy = awesome film
4. Titanic-It’s easy to pick on this movie for taking an event where 1,000+ people died and making it a love story about two fictional characters that just met, but the movie is masterfully executed from beginning to end
3. Aliens-An A+ movie that takes everything great about Alien and makes it even better
2. The Terminator-Despite having a low budget, it shows the talent Cameron had (and still has)

terminator 2 is up there with raiders, star wars , empire strikes back, dark knight, and lord of the rings' as some of the best movies ever made

@@barkley8285 All of those except Lord of the Rings are in my Top 15 Favorites of All Time. And I still think that The Lord of the Rings Trilogy is a fantastic set of films.
Maybe Avatar sticks to a story formula because it's less of a risk when the value of the film was really in the cutting-edge visual elements

I love most of Cameron’s films, even the terminators. But box office wise, none of them touch either of the Avatars, Sean’s list is more about his favorites, not how they should be ranked. And I’m not saying both Avatars should be #1 and #2. But off of their success and box office numbers alone, should be higher on the list. Easily both should be top 5 on this list.
I haven't seen Avatar 2 yet :( these first 4 movies are all perfect.

James Cameron is one of my favourite directors of all time so I appreciate your list!
However I still don’t agree with your thoughts on Avatar though…
James Cameron is one of those filmmakers who just gets it!
He can make anything and it’s going to be an experience!
Although I haven’t seen all of his films, including Aliens which I’m very embarrassed about saying…
I also haven’t seen the first Terminator film or his new Avatar film!

Sean as much as hated the first avatar I really liked the sequel because it had positive message about families and dads and do you think it will have strong legs
I was 11 when Terminator 2 came out. My dad pulled me out of school for the day so we could go to the cinema and watch it. Love it. (However, Aliens is my all-time favourite.)

5) Avatar 2- Perfect except for some character development
4) Aliens- Perfect except it's a step down from the original

2) Titanic- Perfect except for some script issues
