  • Got an Arturia Beatstep pro and a Korg NTS-1. If you dont have a conversion cable from TRS type A and type B, then you may find this video useful.
I am pretty new to the whole electronic music scene but i am enjoying it. Hoping what I learn on my journey will help some others.
MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) connectors come in two main types: 5-pin DIN connectors (commonly used for MIDI in/out on hardware devices) and 3.5mm TRS (Tip-Ring-Sleeve) connectors, which are smaller and more common in consumer electronics. Within the realm of 3.5mm TRS connectors, there are two variations: Type A and Type B.
    3.5mm TRS Type A:
Tip (T): Left channel (usually MIDI Out)
Ring (R): Right channel (usually MIDI In)
    Sleeve (S): Ground
    3.5mm TRS Type B:
Tip (T): Right channel (usually MIDI In)
Ring (R): Left channel (usually MIDI Out)
    Sleeve (S): Ground
The key difference between Type A and Type B is the assignment of the left and right channels on the tip and ring connections. The choice between Type A and Type B is important when connecting devices that use 3.5mm TRS connectors for MIDI, as it determines the directionality of the MIDI signal flow.
