got a new piece of equipment and the company didn't even include a compatible midi cable...so I had to resort to buying 3 different types of cables before I finally said screw it and would make my own. messed up a couple times, but got it at the end thanks to this in-depth tutorial. thanks scott!!

Good point about the Korg USB midi driver - that has driven me bonkers several times. Synth specialist Tim Shoebridge has the best video on that issue.

Yes, his video does describe it very well - far better than the dismal Korg documentation. He doesn't cover the misery caused by the RNDIS driver nightmare introduced with the Wavestate/opsix/Modwave, but that's another issue altogether.

You can find a cable like that when you purchase a Korg SQ-1 helps a lot.

It's crazy that Korg didn't include one with the NTS-1!

Thanks a lot ,just found one in the box of my SQ-1 without your comment I wouldn't have been any wiser n probabley made a cable or purchased one , odd that they never supplied one with the SQ64 that's why I'm here lol, gonna still make one with this tutorial and one with a 5 pin male midi din connection. 👍🏻

What meter setting do you use to test the cable for TRS connections?

Genial…..muchas gracias………espero no tener que fabricarlo…….lo intentaré comprar……..es increíble que korg no te regale el cable si tan difícil es encontrarlo……..

Why didn't you go with a male DIN connector instead? Just wondering if there is a technical reason. Thanks for the great video and information

Because cables get broken with use. By using a jack, I can use any length of any MIDI cable, and if it fails, I can just replace it and plug the new one into this jack.

Cool I am doing that my self but why use a panel mount than actually one with the shell a strain relief ?

Very common problem, unfortunately. Korg might help if you contact them?

Спасибо Скотт! Что у Вас есть еще интересного, например как синхронизировать Korg Volca Sample с KORG NTS-1 по портам - Synth in and Synth out - какие шнуры применить и как настроить при этом Korg Volca Sample с KORG NTS-1? С Уважением - Андрей из Казахстана!

For example, if i've stupidly bought a Type B MIDI-to-TRS cable instead of an A.. could I just hack it and twist the cables inside to get a Type-A? Actually is the second I've bought and I'm losing my patience 😝

Sure, just open the cable up and swap the wires.

@@ScottsSynthStuff Yessssss!! I've done that and it WORKS!! Thanks!! This is huge, the synth gets really really fun when you start using via midi, more while controlling the parameters with the Midi Implementation! Another thing that came to mind now is that you could create an aux "inverter" cable, and that could be really handy to use with other 3.5 midi devices (like .. lthe microfreak!)

I’ll never understand how Americans came to pronounce solder as ‘sodder’.
Hint : it contains the letter L.
