On July 7th at Wright-Patterson AFB, Airmen ordered and ate thier lunches in the dining facility. (U.S. Air Force video by Ryan Law, Senior Airman Johnathon Wines, Senior Airman Holly Ardern, and Staff Sergeant Matthew Hester)
The Air Force 'hands down' have the best dining facilities and food. Even today, my oldest son who is in the Army, had his MOS school at a Air Force base, could not believe the service, quality of food and dining facilities. He even said his 'dorm' room was like a super nice hotel room. USCG vet. 76-80, BM2.
I was Army late 90’s to early 2000’s. I do love Army chow. It has come a long way & is probably better than when I was in some years back. Marine & Navy chow is probably similar but never had it. I do know the Army is also improving its dinning facilities.
As a civilian I have basically been working and/or going to school always - point is, you miss the simplicity & structure of it all. You sleep right there & dining facility is close. Breakfast is always my favorite. Nothing neats a big breakfast & it’s nice to always be able to have a mix at breakfast.
But yeah, to your point my post had an Air Force Base base 5 min away. Besides the welcome change & nicer facility, the Air Force did have a slight edge. More civilians working at their DFACs. I do not like to slight my Army chow & food service soldiers who work hard & fed us well. So much respect for all the military cooks & the civilian support staff who are always so nice just like in this vid. The only time I saw civilians in an Army DFAC was at a training base. I did Basic AIT - OSUT at Ft Knox & that was the only post where I saw civilians working at the Chow Hall. Anyway, the Air Force chow hall was nicer than any of ours. The food was generally better too. They cleaned up for us too at Air Force At Army you have to dump off your tray & sort you flatware at a drop off when done eating, or at least you did. Air Force gets spoiled. I love all the services but as Army, I gotta support Army as #1. Again, thanks to all the amazing military & civilians DFAC workers out there & thanks to all who serve.
I believe the civilian contract for the chow halls on Wright Patterson AFB, Ohio is Lenny's Food Service.
MUCH deserved.... NOICE.... I was a tin can sailor in the 70's and we had great grub... due to the awesome MS folks... God Bless the USN.
I am retired Army and I work for the civilian contract for the Army Chow Halls at Fort Benning, Georgia. I see some similarities in this chow hall and my chow hall.
Were you at the chow hall on harmony church or Sand Hill?
The dfac on sandhill was shit lol.
Air Force has some really good food, I was really impressed with the DFAC in Ali Al Saleem and Balad
True, this was my exact thought when I was at that airbase several times in Kuwait.
Wasn’t there long ofc but Kuwait camp beuring was my fav
@@greg-6205 did they finish the chillis resturant at camp buhering. It was being built by the Starbucks when I was there?
smokey puppy yes sir they did
I'll be working at the Los Angeles Air Force Base in May. Hopefully the food there doesn't suck.
you know that mac n cheese gon be fire when auntie is at the back
Thanks for your service.
No one who has ever served wants to hear this.
They have a very nice diner erea I go there a lot to look. At the plains and stuff very nice people. Greats every one with smile. Very polite very respectful
Looking good compared to the army mess halls we had in the 80's. Nice to see some of them smiling, too.
Excellent I have to visit this facility
Damn that food look good as hell
*$800 billion/year budget* : why thank you!
CHEF GORDAN RAMSEY WOULD APPROVE OF MILITARY FOOD :)
It is good. Air Force has the best food.
amazing how food looks awesome when there is a camera around
It's an awful shame that they have to pay for any meal an I know what you mean about cameras
Naw man, the Air Force gets the best of everything. You want gross food? Go to a Marine Corps chow hall; especially at 29 palms.
Dominus Providebit yea. Don’t know how I’ve managed to get though life all these years without a brain. It’s been tough.
Justus Smith SOI/W chow is up there too. Whatever they put in their food makes anyone get the runs.
Air force food kicked ass anywhere I was ever stationed including basic training and tech school.
Damn that looks better than what you get at the local chain places!
As a Army Veteran I live less than a hour away. Before 2020 I used to drive down here to eat now and then. The food is always excellent and staff friendly as ever.
I am a USAF vet and they wouldn't let me on Lackland AFB in 2018. I think they said only retired vets.
There is no such thing as a bad meal in the Air Force.
Nope. Even in BMT the food was killer.
Even from a civilian aspect, all that food looks good.
That man at the drinks station need to chill 😂
Looks like the typical Air Force Dining Facility. At my first duty assignment after BMT and Tech School was Kadena, Air Base Okinawa. At my first time at the dining facility, the Okinawan mess attendant serves me rice. At first I objected - and the mess attendant and his colleagues looked at like I a visitor from another planet. So, in order to not to be a square peg in a round hole, I got used to having rice served at virtually very lunch and dinner!
I actually love eating rice now.
I was a cook in the Tx Army national guard and went to Fort Lee for my training we had a great bunch of guys in our mess hall 1980-1985 C company 249 sign.battlion 49 ad Fort Worth Texas
Actual conversation.
Scene, USAF Chow Hall, Andersen, AFB, Guam, 1972, during the ArcLight missions...(lunch time)
SSGt. Supervisor: "Ok you guys, you need to go to chow now and hurry as best you can so everyone else can get a chance. They're grilling steaks today!!"
Me, A1C Wootie: "Ok Sarge, we're on our way double time for that."
A few minutes later, we arrive at the Chow Hall. A line of flightsuit clad officers is out the door. A sign reads "FLIGHT CREWS ONLY, THIS LINE". So we run to the other side of the building, and there's a line out the door of enlisted. Finally, we get out trays and plates and move into the service line.
Me, A1C Wootie: "Hey, I'd like to get one of those steaks they're grilling, medium rare please."
Cook: "Sorry, steaks are for flight crews only."
Me, A1C Wootie: Oh come on, we stood in line for twenty minutes."
Cook: "Nope, sorry, Mess Commanders orders."
Me, A1C Wootie: *heavy sigh*.."Ok, what do you have instead?"
Cook: "Chili-Mac!"
Me, A1C Wootie: "FUCK!"
Sgt (in line ahead of me): "That's what I said."
I thought the one guy was looking down to say a prayer before eating. Nope, just can't get off those phones!
Best hearty delicious food for you soldiers that service there countries USMC, watching from New Zealand.
A dining facility has coke, sprite, fanta, and ... water?!?! AWESOME!
I was in USAF 1972-75 before I transferred to Air Guard. Our lunch time chow hall was rated the best in USAF. You would stand in line with bird colonels and generals. It was ran by little old ladies. The one at night was ran by air force people and wasn't a good but once a month we got steak or lobster.
All you need is delicious food for a busy Soldiers
Could have mentioned the person that the DFAC is named after, or at least done so in your credits .
Loved the chow hall! Mid rats!
Excellent💯
Wow such a civilized chow hall, or should I say banquet!!
soldiers have to paid for their meal?
From what I saw in the video, the food didn't appear to be very nutritious. There were far too many Starchy and Heavy Carbs to choose from. Cheeses and Cheese Sauces, Gravies are real fattening. The Beverage choices were heavily influenced as Soda's, as opposed to Bottled Water and Fruit Juices. If the two heavyset guys are the Meal Planner's or Nutritionists, it may be time for a change...
I just watched other soldiers getting served 6 day old muffins what the?
better than what the army fed us. I had a stomach virus for 5 days.
Iv had one for 6 years....
Looks like hospital cafeteria food. The same rubber roast chicken served to both employees and patients
Do US soldiers have to paid for their meal? it was free in our army but quality was horrible.
I work in American Cable Company 4 years
That looks so much better than what I eat :D
Why they paying?
Some people go out and kill the enemy. Others have fresh avacodo in a air conditioned chow hall.
Boy, you Air Farce guys really got it rough......
Jeff Spehar No one said we did lol. We live like royalty compared to the other branches
Cool story Grandpa
Whats the lady doing at the CASH register? Are the airmen paying for their meals?
Not surprise of how the Air Force is better than other services. In Vietnam their px and snack bar was better than the Army's. Besides they had air condition.
Not better than the Navy.
Feliberto Martinez you were on a Airbase obviously? Don’t make it sound like you were abused. The Army also had AC in their facility’s.
good old Wright Pat

Marines: 👁👄👁
does the military have to pay for their meals now?
James C Bliss they probaly have food allowance on their pay. Usually married military and their pay come with food allowance so they usually don’t have a meal card compare to single military without food allowance on their pay.
Iirc there's cards you use, basicially like 300 is taken out of your pay, the card is just to make sure you aren't double going for a specific meal.
But idk what I'm talking about I'm just a fatass working so he can join.
Food looks very good.
Goddamn, turns out all the jokes and memes with USAF has the best foods aren't jokes & memes at all
Best food ever when I was in the USAF from 1996-2002
hello sir how are you I need my job no have my job
Soldiers have to pay for their food?
Only the Air Force gets to eat nicely!
SMART CHOICE 1:38
You have to pay for your meals now
Man even the people working the food are smiling and happy? army civilians just gave you a glare or were straight up rude
The culture of the Army has always been angry and miserable. Fort Bragg fits it to a T.
wait they have to pay for the food?! i thought it was free
You have to pay in chow hall, not in army canteen.
@@wetekin690 im sure they get it for almost nothing, right?
It’s free if you’re a service member living in the dorms. If you are any other category, you pay out of pocket.
I am always surprised when I see a group of GIs that are disheveled and appear out of shape.
I miss being in the Military.
Ojo kakean mangan Roti to cah garai lemes wae..mangono segooo gen Kuat lan kokoh kang
no air force fragile egos were bruised in the making of this video
Why would they be?? Have some respect for the military.
@@airmanmahow much exposure have you had with the Air Force in the past 10-20 years? They have it well and the the NCO’s and officers are nice people and if an Airman gets disciplined or a butt-chewing, they run crying to their mama.
air force are pampered pussies - even the coast guard laughs at you wussies@@jondstewart
Why was the soldier paying for his food. Thought they eat for free
That's if their not stationed on that base and thier not automatically deducting BAS from his LES
It looks like they are paying for the food is that right.
Yeah, there is army canteen where food is free and in chow hall you have to pay
I can’t believe all the ignorant and naïve comments I see on this. But I served in the Air Force a long time and I’ve worked as a civilian for the Air Force a long time as well.
And yes, the Air Force overall does have better food and a quality of life than the Army, but you have to remember how the training is. The Army don’t want their people coddled. They need to be ready for combat. And the way they train their cooks is more about work ethic, time management, and quantity. It’s not supposed to be a happy and positive culture, but one that’s crass, vulgar, and ignorant. Air Force is a different mentality. If their food is bad, it’s because the Airmen and NCO’s are unmotivated and miserable and they have no interest in learning the trade.
Wait y'all have to pay for your food? That's fucked up
I wish indian army get food served like this
Wait a minute. They have to pay for their food?
Ya if they don’t have meal card and their pay has food allowance yes they pay at the chow hall
They have two choices when it comes to where they eat. They make the choice that best suits their needs.
Choice
1) Meal Card- military pays for food on base Dining Facility.
A) Not many choices.
B) Repetitive meals.
C) Designated hours.
D) Don’t have to worry about budgeting for food.
Good choice if you’re entry level and single.
Choice
2) Food Allowance included in your pay
A) Budget your food intake.
B) You can eat at other restaurants on base or off base like subway, McDonalds, Pizza place, Chinese food place, etc.
C) Pay out of pocket at the Dining Facility if you choose to eat there.
Good choice (may be obligated) if your married and live off base.
Wow
Navy’s good food 👍👍👍

Where are the Air Force cooks??? Looks
like privatization here.
It depends on what base you’re at. I work at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Alaska. I’m a civilian Cook that works in the federal service, not a civilian contractor. In other words, we’re treated a lot better and get paid better. However, we are fully well expected to do most of the main entrée preparation and The Airmen do the simple fast food stuff, fruit and veg prep, and grab and goes.
