You could make one of these for every major university in the country and I'd watch them all. There is something incredibly satisfying about watching food prepared on massive scales.
University dining doesn't work like this. Any decent sized college or university will have different food options, including large dining halls (usually buffets with different options), fast food, and convenience stores. Plus, students don't have to eat from campus dining. It's rarely, if ever, as standardized as it is in a military setting.
I actually ate in this cafeteria 3 times a day for 3 days during a sleep away lacrosse camp at Navy. I remember getting the chicken and fries one day and everyone was in love with it. The Naval Academy is an incredible school with a beautiful campus.

lame, wasteful of manpower, shouldve sent them to Ukraine instead, every now and then US would hire other mercenary to fight for them, so no need for enlisted foot soldiers, no one would dare challenge US directly so naval, marine, shipmen are waste of resources.
This was very interesting and I think that the cooks do a fantastic job feeding those nice young people. It is very heartening to see their happy faces.
I served with a Naval Academy Graduate. He was better trained, better educated, and more confident than my measly ROTC training would allow. He was able to work effectively for weeks on end on 4-5 hours of sleep. His shipboard routine was flawless, and I have never seen anyone able to eat so quickly. A large piece of lasagna, salad, and two breadsticks in less than five minutes. And he must have consumed 15-20 cups of coffee a day. His only problem came when we were in port. Hey, Midshipman here! Oktoberfest was a hit this past year, and it always is. Often times when you sit down in King Hall, you’ve got 100s of things you need to do racing in your brain. Just being able to chill with your squad and eat some good food can really make a difference, we all appreciate KH workers so much. Their efficiency is 100% noted and we appreciate them a ton. Also, Dave O’Malley (the guy with short hair in black) who ran King Hall for years passed away very suddenly after Oktoberfest. His years of hard work meant a ton to us, RIP.
I used to work at a 250 bed hospital. And everyone would order Buffalo chicken wraps off the menu. They had to discontinue them because it wasn’t economical viable. Then mangemet just had them Sundays for the few L2K patients because they couldn’t have forks or knives.

They need to bring back the crab feast we used to have on Reform Night in August. I was teaching there from 2017 to 2019 and, to my chagrin, learned that crab night wasn't a thing anymore. Of course, we didn't have Oktoberfest when I was a Mid.

I got to cut the cake at 29 Palms in 1990, I was the oldest E4 in the USMC at the time, I enlisted when I was 29, and I figured the Marines would be a good challenge and change of pace.
A chef who was hospitalized made videos about the food he was served. Unlike some of the comments here, he was very respectful of what the people in the kitchen had to do with what they had to work with.
The best food I ever had in the Navy was on a Unitas cruise of South America in 1973. From Brazil to Uruguay, we had a steak option at every meal. The cooks actually would ask how we wanted it cooked and I would tell them to hit it with a hammer to make sure its dead, sear both sides and serve it up. Still eat my steak that way.
The best food I ever had was at a mess hall at Qatar ( I had a 3 day pass there, this was 2005 and I was in an infantry unit fighting in Iraq ) the food was-AMAZING !!! No other restaurant in america had food this-GREAT-every item was GOOD. And the food service workers were from different arab countries ( so no attitudes or snide remarks like americans workers would do ) LOL. I actually ended up getting an extra day there, because our FOB ( Camp TQ ) was getting hit very hard with mortars and rockets ( heavily ) the day I was supposed to fly back to TQ. I was a very happy camper, one more day of the-GREAT-food there. LOL. SEMPER-FI
Thank you, Tyson to providing one of the worst parts of their product to potential soldiers. Same goes to every other service Academy in the US. But, you love your money...and the people that help contribute.
Do the drummers and pipers get extra time for lunch? It seems unfair for them to only have 15-20 minutes for lunch when they also need to put away their instruments.
It's 15-20 minutes that they're required to be there for noon meal. After 20 mins they ring a bell and people are allowed to get up and leave. The next class period doesn't start for 50 min or so after they ring that bell. If they need a little more time to eat they can certainly sit there and chat, many people stay after the bell dismisses them for 5-10 minutes.
Respects to all cooks serving meals to children in school, military or any big institution! Such an underappreciated service!

I love the sentiment of the staff to make the Midshipmen happy. We have a family member that attended Annapolis. 🎖
The American military is the best!! May God protect and guide each one of them. We pray for them all the time
Thank you for your services
Watching this makes me so glad I’m Army…
I hope the staff is compensated well
Believe it or not this is exactly a video I've been waiting for ...! After watching West Point and AFA videos
Thank you for spoiling our soldiers.👏❤️🇺🇸🙏🏻
Well organized. The family style dining is wonderful.
These young guys must eat a lot of beet and greens too! Great culinary team: Salute to you all!
His years of hard work meant a ton to us, RIP.
respect to all future servicemen
Buffalo chicken in any form is the bomb. This looks particularly good.
I used to work at a 250 bed hospital. And everyone would order Buffalo chicken wraps off the menu. They had to discontinue them because it wasn’t economical viable. Then mangemet just had them Sundays for the few L2K patients because they couldn’t have forks or knives.
Highly recommend touring the Naval Academy campus in Annapolis MD. It is a beautiful campus on the water with so much history.
Most officer from the academy were cool on my sub. USS OHIO blue crew 726
We did run one ensign off the boat. He thought he knew it all and we gave him hell lol
The Navy was Disbanded after the Revolution. For 8 years the Revenue Cutter Service or the United States Coast Guard Defended Our Country. We Are The Oldest Continuous Sea Going Service in The United States. Semper Forgotus 1790!!
They need to bring back the crab feast we used to have on Reform Night in August. I was teaching there from 2017 to 2019 and, to my chagrin, learned that crab night wasn't a thing anymore. Of course, we didn't have Oktoberfest when I was a Mid.
I so much respect for them😢❤❤❤❤❤
I love watching videos of people cooking for large numbers of people, especially the military I think the Navy eats better than anyone.
Some of these Midshipmen will become Marines. This is the best food they will ever have. 😂
crazy that these cadets are feed better then the avg joe in a family everyday but i will say these cadets work hard and are serving our nation much respec to all out vets
They’re fed processed slop, not much different than the average Joe. Average Joe is overweight 30lbs.
It was amazing watching my older brother go through the academy. He is doing quite well these days. Go NAVY!
As a veteran, mad respect!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love Annapolis and seeing the Naval Academy.
I saw on another video that Coast Guard Academy Cadets do not have wait staff. They get their food cafeteria style.
Happy Birthday Us Navy from the Royal Irish Regiment . 💯👌
LOL. SEMPER-FI
The amount of food humans eat is amazing. Just imagine how much food everyone on the planet eats in one day ! Wouldn’t that be amazing to see !
those chicken patties and curly fries looked good
Army march on it stomach after all. Logistic and cooks are often a strong pillar of good army
lunch. the most important meal of the day. matpat would be proud
Thank you, Tyson to providing one of the worst parts of their product to potential soldiers. Same goes to every other service Academy in the US. But, you love your money...and the people that help contribute.
Do the drummers and pipers get extra time for lunch? It seems unfair for them to only have 15-20 minutes for lunch when they also need to put away their instruments.
lol probably not since officers get catered to like children
It goes faster than you think
It's 15-20 minutes that they're required to be there for noon meal. After 20 mins they ring a bell and people are allowed to get up and leave. The next class period doesn't start for 50 min or so after they ring that bell. If they need a little more time to eat they can certainly sit there and chat, many people stay after the bell dismisses them for 5-10 minutes.
The Scottish Bagpipes stole my heart! Awesome video! Thank you.
