"Denn alles Fleisch, es ist wie Gras,
und alle Herrlichkeit des Menschen
wie des Grases Blumen.
Das Gras ist verdorret
und die Blume abgefallen."
*
"For all flesh is like grass,
and all human glory
like the flowers on the grass.
The grass has withered away
and the flower fallen to the ground."
1 Peter 1,24
"So seid nun geduldig, lieben Brüder,
bis auf die Zukunft des Herrn.
Siehe, ein Ackermann wartet
auf die köstliche Frucht der Erde
und ist geduldig darüber,
bis er empfahe den Morgenregen und Abendregen.
So seid geduldig."
*
"Be patient now, dear brothers (and sisters!),
until the lord comes again.
See how the farmer waits
for the delicious fruit to mature in the ground
and is patient about it
until the morning and evening rain cpmes to him.
So be patient."
James 5,7
"Denn alles Fleisch..." (reprise)
This is a rather dated TV broadcast, so I thought it's okay to post here. If there is any copyright infringement, please let me know and I'll take it down.
Bible translations from Luther to English are my own, though.
The best, most musical performance ever heard with this music. It is just incredible that there are also musicians able to make music so humanly!!
Thanks very much for uploading this interpretation. Finally I can really hear to the true music of Brahms without pains in my stomac. . . They are really singing and not making noise as so often one experiences by the music of Brahms.
