    How oddly satisfying is the sound of the rain on the tarpaulin at the end of the video. Lovely job, Oliver. Thanks for having us along.

    As you said Buteifull bit of work. Superb carpentry & joinery skill - a proper "craftsman" - as well as great videography & editing work. A level of care & accuracy often sadly lacking from todays tradesmen.
    It's also great there are clients like yours that are prepared to pay the price for you execute & demonstrate your skill and also allow you to share it.
    Please keep up the great work all the time it is viable for you.

    The verandah looks so good. I honestly was not aware of just how much effort is required to build a structure like this. Can’t wait to see the completed result.

    this sort of roof construction is difficult enough as it is when all the rafters are covered up and never seen again, but to do it where all the cuts are on show and joinery level of accuracy is needed is pretty darn remarkable, fair play lad!

    * cripple rafters
    Jack rafters are on a hip👍🏻
    If you ever have another roof, sketch it out half size or whatever on a bit of ply for your angles, you can get the length to with a tiny bit of development, but I prefer direct measure on a hip from long point to corner of bird’s mouth 👍🏻
    Amazing for Your first crack at it, do you have any woodworking experience? …..😜😂
    Looking great mate

    Looks really good now all tying together. What’s going to happen the wall plates that are extending past each other I’m guessing will they get trimmed to remove the orange paint writing on the end of one of them - think one is longer than the other at the moment too. Great job overall and so interesting to watch someone else how they do it . ThAnks for the videos I look forward to the next 👍

      Thankyou Ben and you are very generous buddy.
      I have several,
      Huepar 6141g is probably the best value and nice for setting out with the rotating dial base
      The one I used there is huepar so4cg great for full 360 line in any direction and close to walls.
      I have similar ones in Hilti too but tend to use the Huepar at the moment

    How much harder was it to use green oak rather than say a soft wood like cedar?
    How do you price a unique job like this, things like the wood getting discolored and needing a days sanding, do you have a contingency? Or is it passed onto the customer? You may have mentioned it before but, will it be left to weather or are putting on a finish?
    My flabber is truly gasted……..!

    • @BradshawJoinery
      @BradshawJoinery  5 місяців тому

      Green oak is pretty easy to work as its green, thats why people like using it, when it dries out though its another story!!! they are going to sand it then put some preservative on it. im not involved but the customer doesnt want a weathered finish
