It's the presence of God on the music, the Anointing of the Holy Spirit, the same thing happened to me. I was drawn to worship music, secretly listening to it, and a few weeks after God connected the dots for me, and showed me through saving my life, His powerful goodness; and I received Jesus in the hospital.
I love so much seeing your transformation through these songs. To see your heart and understanding is beautiful. I always believed in God but never understood the importance of Jesus. I do now within the last couple years and I am so thankful.
As a baby Christian, I couldn't understand how people could cry when speaking of God. Now I have a relationship with Him and I am a consistent cry baby now. His words, music, creations-all the things that His hand has touched-affect my soul. I cry when I pray, see someone who needs help [I help them as we all should], a beautiful flower when Im gardening etc........... The depth to which your soul is touched makes me cry. Yess. I love this song. I used to feel some type of way about Hillsong especially with all the things people have said about it. But this song was an eye opener for me. We are all Children of God and believe the same thing. Hillsong is doing Gods work. And we shouldn’t defile that.

The scandal had to do with the adultery of a pastor at the actual Australian church, the physical building. Tainting everyone in the church because of one guy, is that really a very, clear, reality-grounded view of everyone connected with that church? Before agreeing with any gossip, I advise taking the time to investigate the situation yourself. You'll find it worth it because you'll have a firmer footing grounded in what is REAL. Leonardo, can I take you one step deeper? You talked about how Jesus went to the cross knowing He would rise again. But I believe that while He knew it intellectually, He couldn’t feel it. Near the end of the song, the lyrics switch to Hebrew, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani, which means “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” God didn’t forsake His Son, but Jesus felt like He had. I believe He went to the cross feeling like that was the end. That He’s never see His Father again. And He had to cling to the promises of resurrection just like we do.
I’ve really enjoyed watching your journey. I would like to recommend a song. But I would like to share a little bit about the song and the song writer first. Heartbreak gives birth to great songs. Love lost, loved ones missed, and even tragedies elicit the emotions and that can best be expressed in the medium of music. These songs move listeners and stir up memories bringing about feelings of nostalgia or melancholy, that sort of sadness that leaves us feeling better. But how often do we encounter a song of worship and gratitude that was inspired by heartbreak? The classic hymn “It is Well with My Soul” is just such a song. Horatio Spafford (1828-1888) was a successful lawyer and real estate investor in Chicago. He and his wife, Anna, had one son and four daughters and lived a life of philanthropy and service in their church, until 1871 that is. In that year they lost their four-year-old son to scarlet fever and a few months later the great Chicago fire wiped out the majority of their property holdings. They made it through the next two years until, in 1873, tragedy struck again. The Spaffords had planned to visit Europe as a family, but business kept Horatio behind. On the voyage, the ship Anna and their four daughters were traveling on struck another vessel and sank rapidly. Only Anna survived; she sent a hauntingly brief telegram to Horatio bearing the words “Saved alone.” One can only imagine Spafford’s grief upon receiving the news. It must have been paralyzing. Leonardo, can I take you one step deeper? You talked about how Jesus went to the cross knowing He would rise again. But I believe that while He knew it intellectually, He couldn’t feel it. Near the end of the song, the lyrics switch to Hebrew, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani, which means “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” God didn’t forsake His Son, but Jesus felt like He had. I believe He went to the cross feeling like that was the end. That He’s never see His Father again. And He had to cling to the promises of resurrection just like we do.
I’ve really enjoyed watching your journey. I would like to recommend a song. But I would like to share a little bit about the song and the song writer first.
Heartbreak gives birth to great songs. Love lost, loved ones missed, and even tragedies elicit the emotions and that can best be expressed in the medium of music. These songs move listeners and stir up memories bringing about feelings of nostalgia or melancholy, that sort of sadness that leaves us feeling better. But how often do we encounter a song of worship and gratitude that was inspired by heartbreak? The classic hymn “It is Well with My Soul” is just such a song.
Horatio Spafford (1828-1888) was a successful lawyer and real estate investor in Chicago. He and his wife, Anna, had one son and four daughters and lived a life of philanthropy and service in their church, until 1871 that is. In that year they lost their four-year-old son to scarlet fever and a few months later the great Chicago fire wiped out the majority of their property holdings. They made it through the next two years until, in 1873, tragedy struck again. The Spaffords had planned to visit Europe as a family, but business kept Horatio behind. On the voyage, the ship Anna and their four daughters were traveling on struck another vessel and sank rapidly. Only Anna survived; she sent a hauntingly brief telegram to Horatio bearing the words “Saved alone.”
One can only imagine Spafford’s grief upon receiving the news. It must have been paralyzing. But on his own voyage to meet Anna as his ship neared the place where his daughters had drowned he was inspired to write the lyrics for hymn “It is Well with My Soul.” Unlike many heartbreak songs, it focuses less on what what was lost and more on where hope can be found. No doubt Spafford was shattered by the loss of his daughters, but his heart turned to the faithfulness of God in the midst of loss and the work of Jesus. The hymn does not diminish or gloss over pain and tragedy but rather proclaims that God is present in them and greater than them.
The music for “It is Well with My Soul” was composed by Philip Bliss, a songwriter and gospel singer. It is one of the most beloved and commonly sung hymns in churches across America.
